  1. There is a possibility that Celtic might be able to persuade Keane to stay. Its a slim chance you might think but if they can offer him a long-term deal (say 4 years) on say £45k per week + bonuses, who's to say he might not be tempted? He's knocking on 30 now and hasn't won anything of note (that I can remember) so he might see it as his last chance of winning some silverware.
  2. Hat-trick for the Potato Hunter...
  3. Don't believe all you read in the press!
  4. Anyone got stats on the net spends of our last few managers?
  5. I was just making the point that we don't actually know how close we came to administration and there are plenty of facts that we just don't know. That aside, I agree wholeheartedly that DJ is a numpty and not worth bothering about.
  6. How do you know that he isn't right? We were in cricis mode not too long ago until the bank negotiated/ forced us into a new business plan.
  7. No surprise there... There should be no fees involved until they reach the age of 16 is my view. You could possibly even do it so that retrospective payments are made to compensate clubs, but not until they are 16. Maybe then players wouldnt be discarded for being 'too small' when they are 15.
  8. This would appear to confirm that Ellis has entered a period of due diligence. Not something I was aware had been confirmed so far.
  9. Just noticed this one myself so apologies if its already been posted... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/r/rangers/8562345.stm The group considering a possible takeover of Rangers will decide in about two weeks' time whether to make an offer for the Glasgow club. RFC Holdings (Guernsey), fronted by Andrew Ellis, are entering a period of due diligence, during which they will examine the club's finances in detail. The Scottish champions are £31m in debt and have been under pressure from Lloyds Banking Group to cut costs. A group of Rangers directors will consider the implications of any offer. The independent committee comprises chairman Alastair Johnston, John McClelland, Martin Bain, Donald McIntyre and former Ibrox captain John Greig. Sir David Murray, who relinquished his chairmanship and place on the board in August, controls about 90% of the shares in the Scottish Premier League leaders. News broke last weekend that Ellis, a former director at Queen's Park Rangers, was preparing to make a bid. BBC Scotland learned that two other parties were also considering bids to take over the Ibrox club but Ellis is thought to be the front-runner. The Ibrox club are homing in on their second successive SPL title, currently enjoying a 13-point lead over second-placed Celtic. Rangers have previously confirmed that principal shareholder Murray International Holdings has opened discussions about a possible takeover of the club.
  10. If we were looking vulnerable with injuries and suspensions stacking up I would share your concern but I'm actually quite confident we'll take care of business. Its ra sellik that should be worried about dropping points!
  11. Put me down as a back up if peeps don't have time.
  12. If Ibrox has the possibilty of future increases in value as a result of regeneration, would it not be in MIH's interst to retain its holding? For all the debt held at Rangers amounts to, as a proportion of MIH's overall debt, there must be better ways of improving the balance sheet?
  13. Dear Timmy, Bougie was perhaps a bit fortunate and maybe the Brown red card could have been a yellow. Your team is shite. Get over it! Regards, stewarty
  14. Ah, just re-read that and its still the same as the October statement. Cancel my previous post, nothing has changed!
  15. Just deflecting from the reality and pandering to the paranoid element of the Sellik support. And on the evidence of this week, that would appear to be the majority.
  16. Just speculation until we see something concrete. I guess the official statement saying that the Board will keep the fans informed as and when there are developments does suggest that something is in the offing. Not counting any chooks though.
  17. Good platform to build on for levein. Some encouraging performances including boydy up front on his own
  18. Cant see Wilkins combining his role at Chelsea with being a scout for us....
  19. Funny how there's been a whole load of these things happen in recent weeks. No surprise to me really given how far we are in front.
  20. I'm sure Dougie McDonald believes that he will not be affected by all this and that'll do for me. I just hope that no-one from Rangers makes any statement on the matter other than to say something along the lines of... "that's a matter for Celtic and the SFA". That way, when we hammer them out of sight on Sunday, Walter can get tore into them after the game.
  21. Welcome chaps
  22. Your not a Lafferty fan, fair enough. But just because your older than most on here, doesn't somehow mean your opinion holds more weight. If you made your point and responded to debate without the confrontation, folks wouldn't get on your back so much.
  23. True but Wilson is a capable deputy and you would still have Davie Weir marshalling the troops so I think we could cope. As I said, it would be something unexpected which might catch them off guard. They're going into the game with two inexperienced centre halfs and a defence who have played no more than a couple of games together. Having someone like Boogie tearing towards you would be pretty daunting.
  24. I'm sure if he did decide to return and was appropriately contrite and apologetic about it, the TA would soon get over it.
  25. I'd like Walter to throw a bit of a curve ball in this one. I'd like to see Bougherra at right back with a bit of license to push forward and put their defence under pressure. We can always put Whittaker at RM with the remit of covering Bougherra's nomadic runs and providing support where appropriate. I see this doing a few things: 1) It would give us a bit of width - something which has been lacking recently. 2) It would allow Davis to play CM where he is more effective. 3) It would force their wide players to play more defensively, thus blunting the threat posed by their playing 4-2-4 4) If their wide players DON'T track back, this will drag their central defenders and central midfielders out wide which will create more space for Boydy and Miller to exploit.
