The Summer 2022 Rangers Transfer Window Rumours and Deals - Thread
Rousseau replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
It's also the case that different types of loans are needed at different times. Ojo and Ejaria were needed at that stage in the journey, when we couldn't quite go out and sign players to win championships; we needed a step in between. Of course, they were not title-winning players, but they played a lot of games and moved us forward. You can argue that they were successful. We don't need those types of loans any more. We're at the stage where we need to build title-winning teams, capable of competing in Europe. Another type would be when we need to plug a gap in the squad, like with Diallo. We were short out wide, but we're not able to get someone in permanently, so you plug the gap with a loan. And then you have the try-before-you-buy types, like Sands; a loan with an option to buy. As @ranger_syntax said above, it is a successful loan even if you realise they are not good enough, like Coulibaly. -

Wasn't Defoe a loan? Ianis Hagi was a loan. Ryan Kent was a loan. -

I really want to see Lewis Mayo get a shot. He played a lot of games for Partick last season. -

Yes, he's dependable. I agree that that's not a bad move. -
We'll just close this thread. We can all agree that Bassey is a beast!

FFS, Hamburg... I watched the last minutes tick by. With around 6-7 bodies in the box, their wingers, rather than whipping it in, kept trying and failing to beat their man.

But he'd only just come to by the Monday, so... -
From what I see, he's only played against Liverpool once, in the FA Cup, against their second string... He was phenomenal against Man City and Arsenal, if I recall correctly? But it was only a couple of games, through necessity. I know he's a good player - you don't need to sell him. I just don't want him on loan. I would take him on a permanent, though.

I think he's been rather inconsistent at Norwich, when I would've expected him to be a regular starter. He's spent a third of the time on the bench. He might just suit a better team, though. I stand by my point: I don't want him on a loan. (I would bite your hand off for him on a permanent deal, though.)

You had 2-0 initially, didn't you?

In all seriousness, I would sell Bassey. We keep missing opportunities to sell.

Ramsey wrote on Instagram: “To the blue sea of Ibrox- I want to thank you all for your overwhelming support through the highs and lows. You are some of the most passionate fans I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and playing for. Once a Ranger always a Ranger.” In another post, he wrote: “A nice way to finish the season especially after the big disappointment Wednesday. Thank you to everyone for making me feel so welcome. It’s been an incredible few months and I’m proud to be a small part of this clubs rich history. Thank you Rangers.”

According to Transfermrkt, Simms' Everton contract expires Jun 30, 2024. I've jumped the gun, there. -

Oh. He's p*sh! Who's wanting him? -
Running onto the pitch, though? Tin pot.

I can't stand Citeh, so I wanted them to lose it. It's not my team, though, so meh. Stevie has slipped up again - I take a wee bit a pleasure in that, but I don't know why... I'm pleased to see Leeds stay up. And Burnley going down pleases me. I'm quite sad, eh?

I find it unlikely that we could ever get Gilmour on a permanent deal, but if so, I'm all for it. (Like I've said, though, I did think the Ramsey move was highly unlikely...) I think Simms only played in the last couple of games against us. Yes, about 1 goal in 3/4 games? He's not prolific. But he looks like a good physical presence with a bit of pace. And, he's only 21. I'm just saying, I wouldn't mind picking him up on a free. It would give us a physical presence up front.
