Rangers confirm Kevin Thelwell as new Sporting Director
CammyF replied to BEARGER's topic in Rangers Chat
So we should be more patient even if it's obvious a "project" isn't working or isn't likely to work? We were patient with Gerrard as there was evidence that it "could work" and it did. Regarding the potential takeover, we were left with no option as currently we can't operate, nevermind improve. It was the ONLY option for potentially moving forward and becoming successful. That's not down to patience, just cold hard facts that the current board were unsustainable -

I wonder if we are in a position to plunder the likes of Man City, Liverpool, Bayern, PSG, Barcelona or Real for their sporting directors? -

Rangers Rumours mentioned him last week so I did a little reading about him. He was well thought off at Wolves initially and he is very well thought off at Everton both within the club and the fan-base. Source - Everton's official Reddit feed. IIRC he's "spent" £140M in transfer and recuperated over £225M. There is also a couple of good articles about him in The Athletic. Overall, seems he'd be a positive appointment. -

Tony Mowbray sacked by West Brom - just saying.......😀 -
West Brom losing at home to Derby - another season in the championship awaits the baggies.

I would like Safe Standing, does that mean I'm pandering to the trouble makers, or trouble myself? There is an apatite for safe standing that is outwith the singing section. Let's not deny that during most games, a large section of our support stand, and not just in the UB section. I'm in BF4 and have to stand rather than sit most home games. With dedicated safe standing areas those who want to stand can without inconveniencing those who want to sit.

I've used this site a few times, never been disappointed https://www.blueroomart.co.uk/category/canvas

No they don't, but they hire those who are in charge of those decisions. When we replaced Beale, the board chose to ask for some input from "footballing" people. Then, the board promptly ignored their input and chose Clement. In hindsight, probably the worst of the 3 candidates.
-
Ironically the commercial side is one of the very few success stories in recent years.
-
Again, not true. If this board hadn't wasted £11M on NEH we'd be far closer to sustainability than we are now. Now, thata just one example, there are lots more, purely down to this board that have NOTHING to do with the previous boards. The sooner you accept this board are incapable of running a football club the better. Will the 49ers be any better? Only time will tell but as others have said, the answers to some of our issues are simplistic and easy to implement. Get those correct immediately and we have a fighting chance.
-
You could argue they got lucky due to our poor appointments.
-
100% but we have to admit and acknowledge that the sustainability of the club is 100% responsibility of the board. If we aren't sustainable or showing signs of becoming sustainable the board take FULL responsibility for this. It's really that simple.
-
Being sustainable is a fundamental barometer of how the board are running the club. Last accounts showed an income of circa £95M - that alone should see us as a sustainable business. The huge question is whay aren't we? The simple answer (unless someone more intelligent than me can point it out) is we are overspending, losing money through poor decisions and somehow, unable to plug the hole. All of the above is the responsibility of the board to fix, and even after slashing player wages, we are still losing money. We have a simple choice. Stick / support a board who've shown over a number of years they are incapable of running a football club or we push / support the sale of the club. Option 1 will see us either go out of business or become another Motherwell. Option 2 may see the same outcome, but we'll never know unless we try it. The only opportunities in life that you should regret are the opportunities you didn't take.
-
We don't need to wake up to anything. All we need to do is cast an envious glance over to the East End of the city. Are you suggesting that the 49ers are akin to the Spivs? What makes you believe that? This board are taking us into the same choppy waters SDM took us and that's not the fault of the fans. It's ALL on the board and not the fans and to suggest otherwise is naive and bordering in insulting. The quicker they are gone the better.
-
That's exactly what Buster has been saying for months if not years!!!! Us, the mainstay of financial input to the club, who have stick with the club through the relegation, the barron years, the spivs amd now this current failure of a board are "unreasonable" and "impatient" and that's why the board make incorrect decisions! You couldn't make it up. On reflection, we may have found Graeme Park's Gersnet log-in........
-
Hahaha And I'll leave you to wallow in crap dished by a board who've taken us to a point where we can't operate and our only chance of improving is to sell to new investors. Our underlying sustainability issues are ALL the fault of the board.
-
It has NOTHING to do with the current situation. We are where we are due to the current board. For all his faults we can't blame SDM for the catalogue of woeful decisions served up by this board / shareholders. Unless SDM is secretly pulling the strings in the boardroom If you can't understand that, then there is no point continuing this discussion.
