  1. Currently domestic success will guarantee CL group stages so we also get the financial benefits. However, this could change if European success isn't maintained and our coefficient drops.
  2. But is domestic success more important than European success? I don't think both are achievable, it's one or the other. What's most important to us? Money or SPL title / Scottish Cup / League Cup?
  3. Getting to the later rounds and enhancing our reputation / coefficient.
  4. Who's been one of our better players this season. But hey...
  5. Outwith PSV at Ibrox, he hasn't. He has looked out of sorts and that may be down to the positions he has been asked to play. Butland and Borna have been our most consistent players so far this season.
  6. Utter nonsense - imagine the outcry if he had continued with an injury and was out for a season? Anyway, he was having a decent game prior to being injured. Why would he "shit it"? If he was going to "shit it" he'd have done it earlier. More undeserved, over the top and sensationalist, unfounded claptrap just to have a pop at a player.
  7. But historically, that has been beyond us even with a legend as a manager and great players like Gazza, Laudrup, DeBoer etc. So given we got absolutely battered in CL last year but made loads of cash, was it a success? Financially yes, reputation and football wise, no. Arguably you need to consistently qualify for the CL for finances and maybe yearly participation will make us perform better. Whilst EL and Conference offer less financial rewards, they offer better football rewards? Or have the last 3 or 4 years been the exception to the rule?
  8. What constitutes success (and / or failure) for us in the European context? Prior to SG taking over, we were dismal in Europe for the best part of 4 decades with a couple of notable exceptions (1992/3 and 2008 both under WS, who largely failed in Europe).
  9. It was but I'm struggling to see what Raskin has done so far this season to be an automatic pick for Sunday. Same could be said for Cantwell, but get him in the position(s) and in the correct formation, I'm sure he'll hurt Celtic.
  10. Decent enough group that all things being equal offers us an opportunity to progress into the knock-out stages. Will be interesting to see how Rangers price the 3 match package given they went top dollar in last seasons CL.
  11. It's two - Jack and Lundstram OR Raskin.
  12. Butland Tav Goldson Souttar Borna / Yilmaz / Sterling Jack Lundstram / Raskin Cantwell Roofe / Danilo Dessers Matondo However, I have a feeling Cifu, Sima and Lammers will start
  13. Another positive from Zagreb not qualifying is that there are only now 2 teams who can stop Rangers from qualifying for the new Club World Cup - Bruge and Shaktar. Match or better their coefficient points and we will be going to the Club World Cup.
  14. Why would you care? Not our player or problem now. Can't we not just accept the £5M profit?
  15. Turning £50K into £5M is a great deal and wish Kamara all the best in the future. Was a great player for us.
  16. Especially in Europe.
  17. Your perogative- but jeez....
  18. All players signed over the summer and in January stated it was sitting talking to MB about his vision that excited them and helped make them sign for Rangers.
  19. 8 trophies including 3 league titles (which should have been 4 if we'd been given help during the run to Manchester) and a UEFA Cup Final with Kirk Broadfoot in his team should have been sufficient for Walter Smith to be knighted. I could have mentioned many other games like winning 4-2 at Parkhead (amongst many victories there), 7-0 semi-final victory over DUFC, winning a cup with 9 men, beating DUFC 7-1 at Ibrox with 10men and many other drubbings we handed out (3 and 4 goal victories at Tynecastle and Easter Road). No team can win convincingly ever week playing like Prime Brazil. It just doesn't happen. I wish, over the last 15 years I was as "bored" as you were watching WS and Rangers dominate Scottish football and get to a European Final. Boring indeed.
  20. Yes, in the Europa League and he got us into the CL group stages. He took over when we were ahead in the league and 55 still fresh in the memories, so far ahead that he should have won the league. He then fell way behind Celtic and got pumped in every game in the CL. Beale has taken over a squad of "serial losers" who were so far behind it was almost impossibly to catch them. He did lose a cup semi and final. One down to his team selection and one down to Sakalas inability to score an open goal from 6 yards out. Different circumstances and should be looked at and treated as such
  21. I said in the MB topic that he gets this season. It isn't just blind hope. We are 1 point adrift in the league, still in all domestic compitions.
  22. The football was boring? Was watching us win 5-1 at Rugby Park to win the league boring? Was watching us win 3-0 at Tannidice boring? There were games under WS that were boring, as there were games under every successful manager that were boring but there were games where we destroyed teams. Why you focusing on the negatives?
  23. It's not, I've criticised him and will continue to do so if I feel it merited. However, there is a perception that he'll fail. But what if he doesn't?
