  1. We need Ross Wilson and his team to unearth more Calvin Bassey' s. Bassey' s rise, attitude, fitness and skill shows there are bargains out there. All transfers have an element of risk, that risk multiples in the market we are shopping in, so Ross Wilson has his work cut out. Can only hope that Gio and his management team have a list of talent from their time in Holland that we can attract and develop.
  2. All about opinions but on the night, I thought Franfurt were the better team. Our goal and only real chance, as Kent's would have been ruled out by VAR as ball had crossed bye-line, came from Frankfurt mistake. They had three or four decent opportunities and Greegs was the far busier keeper. I also thought we were lucky not to concede a penalty when Goldson tripped their forward. Thought it was a stonewaller. I said last night, and stick by it, if game was over 2 legs (home and away) I think we beat them. Agree 100% regarding injuries, Hagi, Roofe and Alfie were 3 huge losses in Europe. The board haven't "gambled" in the last two windows, will be interesting to see what sort of budget Gio gets in the summer.
  3. sometimes it's easier to admit the opposition are better than you as was the case last night. No shame in losing a European Cup Final in penalties to Frankfurt - huge shame in losing to Raith in The Ramsdens - they are not comparable
  4. Yeah, he maybe but I'm hoping he stays. As I said, just my opinion and not based on anything "concrete"
  5. You do understand we were playing Franfurt in a European Cup final and not Raith Rovers in The Ramsdens Cup Final? The team can hold their heads high, this season's European run has been phenomenal
  6. A little synopsis of our team from last night both on domestic and European form this season and where their futures may lie. Just my opinion... Greegs - did nothing wrong last night and produced some decent saves but will be disappointed not to get close to any of the penalties (given how high his standards are). Domestically he's had a few howlers but in Europe he has been outstanding. Future? Retire as one of the great Rangers keepers. Tav - he looked either injured our burnt out last night. Was unable to affect the game. Domestically and in Europe has been outstanding. His goals and assists are world class. Future? Stays as captain. Borna - didn't do anything wrong last night, but has been up and down domestically and in Europe this season. Future- if an offer comes in we have to sell. Goldson - will wonder what would have happened if he'd attempted to cut the cross out. Domestically sound and a colossos in Europe. We won't appreciate how good he is until he's gone. Future- leaves on a free in the summer. Bassey - one of the best players on the pitch last night. Been the standout domestically and in Europe this season. Future - he won't finish his career at Rangers but we need to get him tied down on a long term contract so we make as much as we can when we sell him. Jack - didn't affect the game last night and looked like his injuries are starting to take their toll. Injuries have hampered him this season and wouldn't be sad to see him leave. Kamara - like Jack found it hard to affect the game last night. Domestically and in Europe he has been a great signing for us. Bought for £50K so would sell this summer for whatever we can get for him seems to have run his course. Lundstram- midflied were overran and missed out last night. However, after a shaky start to his Rangers career, he's an automatic starter nest season. Wright - some sympathy for Wright. He is a SPL player trying to perform at elite level. Been in and out of the team, and can see him staying. Aribo - scored for us last night and sacrificed himself for the team playing as a striker. Been in and out of form this season but think he has a huge part to play for us. Kent - can't fault his work rate but his end product isn't consistent enough. However, he is one of the few players who can create/score out of nothing. I think he'll leave if a suitable offer is received but wouldn't be devistated if he stayed. That's the starting 11 from last night, and think after Saturday, no matter the result, it'll be the beginning of the end for SGs squad. Huge window for the club, Wilson, Gio and the board.
  7. As weird as it sounds but if the final was over two legs, I think we'd have won it! Manchester was a great experience but I think the majority of us knew Zenit were going to beat us. We can say Walter was to conservative in the final, but those were the tactics that got us there. Tonight, after knocking out Dortmund and Leipzig, we thought we had a chance, and we did. I'd say Frankfurt were better team than Leipzig and remember are unbeaten in Europe this season - that is some achievement. Off course players make mistakes, managers select the "wrong players" and wrong tactics, that's football. It's hard to accept domestically but at this level, we are punching way above our weight. The way European Football is structured and financed, Rangers aren't meant to be anywhere near the final. Time to dust ourselves down and get behind the team on Saturday - it's gonna be a tough and after tonight, but we need to go again. Thanks for the memories in this season's EL I for one will certainly cherish them.
  8. 2 finals in my lifetime (I can't remember Barcelona 1972 - I was only 4!), I hope I live to see a 3rd and may be a victory! Huge financial disparity in European Football means Rangers getting to finals isn't happening every year no matter how much we'd like it to. That shouldn't stop us dreaming tho.
  9. Played a European semi and final without a recognised striker. We managed a way to defeat Leipzig over two legs without Roofe of Alfredo, tonight was one step too far.
  10. Devastated - so much to pick the bones out of, but tonight is not the time. Proud of the players, can't underestimate the achievement of getting to the final but that was probably out best ever opportunity to win a major European Tourniment.
  11. So its down to penalties - cannae watch this...
  12. Aww man, cannae handle this - come on Rangers
  13. Very even 1st half - one last push Rangers
  14. I have never been this nervous / emotional and I'm not even in Seville. No matter the result this evening, we can be extremely proud of the players/club/fans. This has been some run, one more step Rangers.
  15. Thought Sands played very well
  16. I'd expect more. Patterson went for £16M and Bassey is further ahead development wise than Patterson. £20M and not a penny less IMO.
  17. Either at home or in my local Masonic Temple (If someone can show me the required "knock") Oh, and I ain't no "Nationalist" either.......
  18. I don't think it's set up to save the club a fortune, it's set up to make the club a fortune. Lowry is the standout at the moment, King looks assured both at centre-half and left back. McCann could make it, Weston scores goals but looks behind the players mentioned above. Devine has looked a very good full back both at B Team level and when he has played for us. McKinnon has had a brilliant season for the B Team and is a goal-threat every time I've seen him play. However, the hard work starts now for them. They've had a taste and need to ensure they continue to impress. Also, at the moment, none of them are at a level of Patterson was.
  19. Very decent performance from a 2nd / 3rd string team. Great goals from Itten, Lowry and McKinnon and thought Divine and Sands were excellent throughout
  20. Think you'll find many do care, hence the backlash.
  21. Lack of what staff? Security, Police, food outlets are not Rangers staff. What other staff are required? Another alternative is to outsource to an events management company. Beam-back is lower priority than the game but we managed both on 2008, absolutely no reason we couldn't manage both this time around either. Every other club involved in a European Cup Final are managing to facilitate a beam-back so why cant we? Another huge own-goal by the board.
  22. We managed to have a beam-back in 2008 - can see no reason not to have one this time.
