  1. Agreed that it was initially a good signing as it put the Tims back a few years, but given Ally's scoring record, before, during and after MoJo was sold on, I think the McCoist Hateley partnership was a better bet than MoJo Ally or MoJo and Hateley. Also, I'll never forget (or even forgive?) MoJo for headbutting Stuart Munro during a Skol Cup Final and his actions directed at the Rangers fans that afternoon. In saying that, he got my support whilst playing from Rangers but in hindsight (and yeah, its a great thing), I believe his signing could have resulted in us missing out on one of the greatest goal-scoring partnerships in our history. 2. I phone home from a 'lads holiday' in Kavos from my old man to inform me that Rangers had signed Mo Johnston. I didn't believe him and continued drinking myself into obvillion. It wasn't until I saw a copy of the Sun a few days later that I realised that it was true... The day that rocked / shocked Scottish Football? A good or bad signing? Discuss.....! Cammy F
  3. As someone who used to religiously purchase both the match-day programme and the Rangers News (I have programmes dating back to the 50s and 60s as well as most home programmes from the 80s and 90s) and Rangers News (I have most editions from 77 until the early-mid 90s), I would like to see both publications give space, if not all control to the fans. This would mean the Programme and News would raise and address the issues that currently face our club. Currently, neither tackles any issues that we face and with no disrespect meant, I for one do not want to read about someones dog who barks the theme tune to MOTD whilst wearing a Rangers top. Our club publications should be written by the fans, for the fans. It should address topics like the recent UEFA investigation / fine and allow the fans a real insight as to what went on there and what the club are planning to do about this in the short, medium and long term. They should also carry in-depth interviews with the new manager and his staff along with the captain and players. The Chairman should also be questioned regularly on things like debt, transfer budget and process, the youth development fiasco etc, etc, etc. I am sure most fans are more interested in the above than they are of what Burke and Boyd prefer for breakfast and what was the last tune that they downloaded. The Rangers Historian is a sporadic publication that gives great insight to the history of our club and IMO, would be ideal for the programme and News. Robert McElroy knows more about our club than most and would be ideal for writing his thoughts etc in the official publications. Same goes with fanzine contributors, these guys are fans and talk about issues that are fans minds. The official web-site also needs an overhaul and The Rangers Historian MUST have a place on any official on-line site. Where better to give visitors an in-sight to our great club? In saying that, they must also remove the registration to the site as it is a hindrance and no doubt stops casual browsers (who arte potential fans) from easily accessing information. Cammy F
  4. Aye, but Rangers are my team... I seriously thought that the standard of play was rotten and added to the play-acting and cheating, it added up to be the worst WC that I can remember. Cammy F
  5. Didn't watch many games as I thought the standard was VERY POOR - maybe the worst WC that I can remember... Cammy F
  6. In the Sunday Herald looking at the grass-roots level of Scottish Football (and the lack of care / finance by the SFA) and the SFA's lack of interest in a 'Team GB' etc http://www.sundayherald.com/56634 Cammy F
  7. I wasn't saying anything regarding 'arm-chair fans' - just asked the question as to who should be paying more - the people who follow their clubs everywhere, or the fans whom, for whatever reason, watch the games in the comfort of their house. Before the introduction of live football, me and my friends would regularly go to local games if and when Rangers weren't playing, or playing on a Sunday. In those days, it was cheap enough for us to do this - we would go to see the Shire, Falkirk, DAFC, Hearts, Hibs, Stenhousemuir, Alloa etc. Take Boro in Europe last season - there was a story of the 100 or so fans who had travelled to all the games, home and away and it had cost them in the region of £10,000 each. Now, I seen most of the Boro games in the UEFA Cup for nothing - doesn't seem fair to me. Now, take Arsenal - they are charging over £1000 per season ticket from their new stadium - season ticket holders getting ripped off IMO. IMO, the 'arm chair fans' should be the fans that the club charge the most for the simple reason that they aren't actively following the club and the fans who do go week in, week out shouldn't have their loyality rewarded with huge and over priced ticket prices. I could watch all Rangers away games on Sentanta (plus shit loads more football) for £180 per year - but I prefer to go and watch the game live. For that chose I get charged £36 at Parkhead, £25-28 pounds at Easter Road and Tynecastle and over £20 for every other away ground. IMO the ticket prices should be lowered and the price for watching the game on Sentanta increased. This *may* actually force more people to get out and watch the games putting more money into the game that smaller clubs really need. And, if the prices for tickets were lower, then the attendences would increase. I can not remember the last time I was at a Rangers away game and there wasn't loands of tickets from sale outside the ground (for the home end as well as the away end). As I said, this wasn't questioning whether the 'armchair fans' were any less of a fan than someone who doesn't miss a game - it was about who should pay more for the privilage of watching football. 10. I think Scotland will struggle in what is a very hard qualifying group. I hope WS takes the chance to establish young players like Stevie Smith, Burke and Boyd into the team with a view to qualifying for the next world cup. I would be great to qualify for the Euro's but I'd like to see us concentrate on the WC and do all we can to ensure we qualify for that. Cammy F

  22. .... and since we aren't there, we'll remind ourselves of Harvey in the Shankhill RSC and join in with this fantastic song... Just across the Irish Sea Stirs a heart of Loyalty Raised in Honour and in dignity Drives a will to keep us British free Not alone are we on this journey For in a land just across the sea Is a hand that reaches out in friendship And a bond thats lasted centuries And it's hands across the water Reaching out for you and me For Queen, For Ulster and For Scotland (and for Rangers) Helps to keep our Loyal people free Let the cry be "No Surrender" Let no-one doubt this Loyalty Reaching out to the Brave Red Hand of Ulster Is the hand across the sea repeat second verse) (repeat first verse) Cammy F
  23. Loyal Heart From Loyal veins my life I drew In Loyal arms I lay From Loyal Lips that Lessons new That led me day by day And hearts to rest in Loyal Breast And rocked on Loyal knee They wore and grew and thank God too A Loyal Heart in me, Then came the day for all to view When scorn and lies held sway Those evil men with no virtue They swore my life away But for dare or ill I am Loyal Still They never can decree To force retreat or stop the beat The Loyal Heart in me At times I sigh at times I rest Amid Scenes and faces strange The passing years have in my breast Brought little or no change Memories of old ever bright I hold Since rocked on Loyal knee And for her sake no jail will break This Loyal Heart in me. Love this song, nothing sectarian and it *could* relate to supporting Rangers... Cammy F
