Notice the B Team are playing Luton tonight - thought Igamane would benefit from some minutes but not in the team. Last I heard it was 3-2 to Luton after 70+ minutes.
-
Or not allowing a winger to get to bye-line, or not tracking his runner? I'm getting swayed here, useless bugger does f'all when you think about it.
-
Like not saving weakly hit shots from 30 yards out?
-
He'll not be the only striker in the world who is / was wasteful though, that's the point. He needs someone who'll supplement his 16, 18, 20 goals, like the example I gave relating to the season we won 55 - Morelos, DeFoe, Roofe, Kent, Hagi, Tav, Aribo, Arfield all chipped in.
-
A goal a game v Celtic? You do know McCoist "only" scored 28 in 54 games against them? You're asking the impossible there. Dessers goals have mostly been opening goals, equalisers and winners, he's scored in OF, EL and CL qualifiers. Scored 2 in a Scottish Cup Semi Final. He has only been here 1 full season. In that season he was 1st Rangers striker to score 20 league goals since Boyd and Miller. Maybe, just maybe if other players showed the same attitude and / or chipped in with their share of goals, then we'd be better off (remember McCoist had Hateley, Boyd had Miller etc)
-
So did Kenny Miller and a few others.
-
What's so confusing? Dessers scores goals end of debate.
-
I repeat myself due to old age 😀
-
Really, first I've seen you post that.
-
Exactly - typical of the Rangers support that when discussing lack of goals, the player(s) to blame are those who actually score the goals and not those who don't 😀
-
Copland still closed, hopefully ready for the Hibs game.

Myth. What was the attendance for the St Johnstone game again? Those 6k can buy tickets for all home matches (via public sale and seat sub), yet there are unsold tickets for almost every home game (and some in significant numbers). We (as a club) struggled to give away tickets at end of last season and beginning of this season.

I don't know where your trying to take it to be honest. My original response was to a post stating that said Dessers doesn't score in important games. I replied saying he does (and has) and suddenly you've said its not about goals but "presence". I also stated that most of his goals for us have been opening goals, equalisers or winning goals. Dessers doesn't offer a Morelos type presence (few would) but its undeniable that he offers goals, something no other player in our squad can currently claim. Dessers is the new Tav, no matter what he does, it'll not be good enough for some. He scores goals, he's always available, he doesn't let the flack get to him. Wish we had more that offer what he offers.
-
Do DeFoe and Roofe are a presence? They played as much as Morelos. Roofe outscored Morelos as well. So your argument falls down.
-
And off course those type of strikers grow on trees and you can pick them up from your local Poundland. Our whole attacking line is weak, not just the number 9.
-
Look at the season we won 55 - we didn't have a presence then either. Morelos, Roofe and DeFoe shared the striking responsibilities, only Morelos could be classed as a "presence". All 3 of them contributed with goals (ironically none scored more than Dessers did last season), but we also had Tav (who finished joint top scorer with Roofe if I remember correctly), Aribo, Kent, Arfiled all scoring goals on a regular(ish) basis. In our current squad, we could have a striker with all the presence in the world, it wouldn't make 1 iota of a difference. No matter who our number 9 is, we are over-relient on them to score our goals. Using Sunday as an example, our striker could have scored a hat-trick and still wouldn't have finished on the winning side.

Absolutely agree. Also, there is no requirement for a bigger Ibrox. Its hardly like we sell out every game (in reality not on paper). Also if the form / performance of the last few seasons continues, we could be shutting stands down.

Dessers has scored in "big games". He's scored in every competition we've played in, including Europe. We have no attacking options other than Dessers. Danilo is way off fitness after injury, Igamane is an unknown quantity, we couldn't get Sima back. Matondo and Cerny will chip in with a couple of goals, sure Cortes will as well. Said earlier, Dessers is the only player we have who'll get over 20 goals. Tav would normally get as many but he has fallen away dramatically. Someone broke down Dessers goals last season and the vast majority were "important" goals that either won us points, rescued points or put us ahead in games. If we persist with 3 forwards, all 3 need to be hitting 15-20 goals a season. Our midfield don't score enough, neither do our defenders. Its getting to the stage where if Dessers doesn't score, neither do Rangers.

A fresh approach as in winning games? Our current manager has a win rate of under 50% over than last 22 games (9 wins). Even taking this season in isolation, we have 3 wins from 7 games played. Clement appears to be a manager who doesn't play a settled 11 players, he likes to rotate. His formation leads us to be very narrow so we are exposed down both flanks (see Sunday as the latest example), our midfield are constantly over-ran and other than Dessers, we have no players who'll score double figures. I'd argue his system isn't flexible, it just doesn't work and looks random and scatter-gun. In fact, for most games, it's hard to work out what the system is. We now have the international break to lick or wounds and Clement and his team have time with the new players to integrate them into the team / system. They'll have to hit the ground running as our schedule included a domestic cup tie, 4 potentially tricky away games (Dundee Utd, Killie, Aberdeen and Dundee) and the commencement of the EL. Basically, we need an approach rather than a fresh approach.

Yeah, didn't they look at building a new main stand when they built the other 3 stands and decided against it (cost).
-
During yesterday's game Jefte was booked for "persistent fouling" after commiting his 1st foul. Beaton clearly points to areas of the pitch and holds up 4 fingers. So did Jefte get booked for persistent fouling after 1 foul or did Beaton book him simply because we as a team had committed 4 fouls? Nobody from the club will ask the question, but it would be good for Beaton / SFA to explain the situation.

Tav should be being phased out of the team, but his replacement (Sterling) is being used to cover other positions we are short in. Agree with Butland and suprised he didn't leave in the summer. Kelly wasn't signed as back-up in my opinion. Did a deal fall through? Another issue is fitness, we still lose a lot of players / minutes to injuries. As an example, Propper hasn't finished either of the games he's started. The manager needs to decide what his best starting 11 is and stick by it. This continual chopping and changing isn't doing is any favours in my opinion. Butland Sterling Souttar Propper Jefte Raskin / Diomamde Barron Cerny Bajrami Cortes Dessers / Danilo / Igamane

Better hope Ibrox is ready for Dundee game or the crowd will be lower than St Johnstone. Hopefully when we do the same work in the Broomie that we've learned some lessons.......

I believe the lcurrent vice-chairman of St Mirren is a friend of Bennett and or Park. It was reported that someone was sacked for the Copland fiasco but no names were mentioned so we'll never really know. What did happen (although I was slaughtered on here at the time for saying so) was our board or someone close to them, leaked a story to The Sun that blamed Bisgrove for the situation and absolved Bennett and Co of any blame. Let's not forget that it has been the board's incompetence that has led us into our current situation (gross mismanagement, continual incorrect appointments, NEH, etc).
