Can I just add to my last post that up until his death Johan Cruiff had a huge say and was the most respected voice in Dutch football, What Cruiff was for Ajax is Wim Jansen for Feynoord. When Celtic signed Wim Jansen as manager they were actually wanting Cruiff. It was Cruiff who turned the job down but recommended them to sign Jansen. Cruiff Jansen and Willem van Hanagem are still thought as the best technical brains behind Dutch football. The story also goes that Rinus Michels the Dutch and Ajax manager used to give team talks. After he left the dressing room Cruiff, Jansen,Israël and van Hanegam would then have another talk on the team tactics and how they would play.

Only as a youth trainer as far as I can see. He took over from Jol firstly as Interim manager and then manager. Johan Cruiff was the main reason Jol was kicked out of Ajax. Cruiff as with barcelona had a huge say in what went on at the club. He campaigned against Jol because he thought the club was in a mess under Jol's leadership.

I wrote before on here the troubles with FDB at Inter. He was asked to change the whole philosophy of the club to make them an attacking team. He had to do that without any pre-season and he had also inherited a team of veterans who were not open to change. Most were engulfed in the old Italian systems of football. That added to the fact he could not speak Italian also brought communication problems. If Frank also says he had off the field issues then that has to be added. I would forget that project from him as I don't think it is fair to judge his managerial skill on it.

Jol has got teams into Europe in the past but getting teams to the top is not his strong point. Frank de Boer took over Ajax after him and turned Ajax into league winners. Jol would not be my first choice.

I can only partially agree as I was really too young to remember him long at Rangers. I always said my father took me to Hull to see him when we were on Holiday down in England but on checking when he left Rangers I see it must have been Sunderland so that is how good my memory is.

Two players mate it is Willem van Hanegem and Rinus Israël and they were indeed in the 1970 EC cup win against the tims. Another from that team you may remember is Wim Jansen and you won't have forgot Ove Kindvall I think.

Very interesting times ahead off the field.

As I witnessed on a daily basis, Johan Cruiff, Willem van Hanegem, Marco van Basten, Ruud Gullit, Dennis Bergkamp from when I was 22 then i am afraid Laudrup was nowhere near world class. World class in Scotland as I always say.

Female goalkeepers never look very good. They look in fact like Wuman.

It only takes a few tims to bet on him to make him a favourite. I wouldn't go on the betting odds they are too easy to change.

Rangers' Lee Wallace is also back in training -
That is why I would like to see him against other teams. I think you only have to go back to O'Halloran to see a player bought because he played good against us.

The boy Kerr from Dundee has impressed me twice now I would take a further look at him against other teams.

I don't rate Hodson at all and I doubt if Krajncar will ever be really fit enough again.

I think Mark Wotte would do an excellent job and he does have a bit of feelings for Rangers. A couple of years ago I was lying in Hospital sharing a room with an older man. At visiting time he received 2 visitors a man and a woman. I learned it was his daughter and her husband. During the conversation my neighbour explained to them I came from Scotland. The husband asked me if I had a football team and I told him Rangers. All of a sudden the he started belting out the sash with FTP added to the end. I was shocked as you don't expect that in a hospital bed in the East of the Netherlands. I later found out it was Mark Wotte's brother who is a football agent. He done a lot of work for Rangers and it was via him that Rangers organised their Pre-season trips to Holland and Germany. He said he was a friend of Ally McCoist and still had contact with him. Ally was still manager then. He also said his brother was sad to leave Scotland and would move back there in a minute.

Graeme Murty will Stay in Rangers hotseat for Old Firm showdown
pete replied to ian1964's topic in Rangers Chat
Hodson does absolutely nothing for me, I think he is a very poor player. Tavernier is no center-mid he ball watches far too often. and I agree with UIlleam below he is tactically un-suitable. -

Agreed no matter who comes in they need to get a good backbone to the team. That was Warburton's downfall. We all saw it I just can't understand why he never saw it or failed to correct it. That 1-8 million for Garner should have been spent on a good solid defence. That is where you start to build a team. -
Sorry I think i got the wrong Quote.

That may be so but all the decisions on first team affairs are made by the head coach. The DOF has nothing to do with picking the team and the head coach also has the final say on what players are being brought in. The DOF will probably make a list of available transfer prospects and scouting of players. He will also do all the negotiations but I will say it again the head coach will have the final say on which players he wants brought in. There is no way any good coach will be the bum boy for a DOF.

This may make him higher than a coach. Reports to club Directors Accountable to club Directors

The head coach is the boss if he is a good head coach. Director means to Direct and not Director as in Boardroom

Rangers have held talks with Brentford’s head of football operations Robert Rowan over the current vacant director of football position, according to a report. Scottish news outlet STV has claimed that the 26-year-old met Gers officials last week as they attempt a management shake up following the deapartures of Mark Warburton, David Weir and Frank McParland. It is believed that the famous Ibrox club are set to hold formal interviews for both the management and director of football roles this week and Rowan has been identified as a possible candidate. The relatively young Brentford chief has held his position at the club for three years since 2014 and even worked with Warburton at the London club for a year. He has also had two spells with Rangers’ fierce rivals Celtic, also totalling three years. Between his two stints at the Hoops he also worked for the Scottish Football Association between 2011 and 2014 in a ‘head of technical scouting and opposition analyst’ role. Rangers are also understood to have held talks with Southampton’s scouting chief Ross Wilson, while the report names Tottenham head of recruitment Paul Mitchell as another potential candidate. However, it may be more beneficial for the club to appoint a new manager before securing a director of football.

Ha Ha You are hopeful. I am more likely to keep a few away.

PS I obviously have no chance in getting a ticket for a Celtic game.
