  1. Totally agree gone are the days of Archie McPherson or Arthur Montford unfortunately.
  2. At the Glasgow fair we would need to play the game in Blackpool.
  3. I have just started again. Practising for next season. I had lost my love for football and watched nothing for a while. This season I have found that love back. In fact I have become a bit of a football Junkie. Last night I was watching PSV on the telly and had the Manure game on a stream on the computer next to it so as I could follow both games. As I was hoping PSV would win the scoring order made it really quite exciting. Thoroughly enjoyed it. I only watch games I am interested in though. Spanish Portuguese Italy etc don't interest me one bit.
  4. Sons of Struth 7 uur · As predicted. Legal letter from Mr Easdales lawyer. Glad to know you guys are still interested. This ones very long and full of accusations. Will take a while to wade through them all. Unfortunately I'm out just now but will work my way through each claim individually. Do you fancy the new sos top Sandy as I heard you're a big Rangers fan?
  5. I don't get the summer football thing. Is that starting the league 2 weeks earlier to allow a two week break in January? Are people going to go on holiday in march to Spain when the temperature is 17 degrees? Scotland has a weather system that can have 12 degrees in January but also 12 degrees in July. Sorry I just don't get it.
  6. This was of course tongue in cheek but cost apart I would reckon I have an easier path to Ibrox than some who travel. During a week day I would probably even be able to get the train to Schiphol. Even getting along the M8 can be a nightmare. Unfortunately the cost is too high though and if I was in Glasgow then I would want to visit my family. So Ckuf the 15.15 taxi and return flight.
  7. Leave at 6.am for Schiphol arrive at 8.00am Plane flies at 9.25am arriving at Glasgow 9.55am. Taxi to Ibrox leaving time for a few pints. order Taxi near Ibrox for 15.15 to GA. Plane leaves 16.25 arriving Schiphol 19.00. leave Schiphol +- 19.45 and arrive home at +-22.00 just in time for Sportscene. Piece of cake.
  8. Sorry just posted without thinking.
  9. Rangers transfer targets: Meet the men Mark Warburton could snap up in transfer window 13:23, 8 Dec 2015 By Kevin Mcallion RECORD Sport online gives you the inside track on potential January arrivals PA Wire/SNS Group/Getty Images/Huddersfield Examiner The men Mark Warburton could bring to Rangers in the January transfer window The January transfer window opens in less than a month and Rangers boss Mark Warburton will be keen to add some fresh faces to help his side outgun Hibs in the race for the Championship title. A few players have been linked with a move to Ibrox but the likes of Josh Windass, Matt Crooks and Vladislavs Gutkovskis are hardly household names. Here, Record Sport on-line profiles the trio to give punters an insight into the men who could be wearing Gers strips come the end of January. Josh Windass Accrington Stanley’s Josh Windass The Accrington midfielder comes from good stock as his dad is former Aberdeen striker Dean Windass. Like his old man he has an eye for goal, having netted 11 times for the League Two side this season. Windass is now in his third season at Accrington after arriving on a free following a spell with non-league Harrogate Railway after leaving Huddersfield. His scoring knack has only been discovered recently as the youngster netted his first goal for the club back in February. Since then has been in deadly form, showing the kind of finishing prowess that endeared his dad to Dons fans. Warburton will be glad to know Josh hasn’t shown any signs of the temper that landed his father in trouble with the SFA during his time at Pittodrie. Windass Snr was infamously sent off three times in a game at Dundee United in 1997 but Josh has only been booked three times in his entire career. Josh’s deal with Accrington expires in the summer so he wouldn’t cost too much and dad Dean has already hinted that he will move in January. But Rangers could face competition for a man Stanley boss John Coleman rates as the £1million bracket. Matt Crooks Getty Images/Clive Brunskill Matt Crooks in action for Accrington against Hull The utility man’s career has plenty in common with Accrington team-mate Windass as they are both 21 and arrived at Stanley after a spell with Huddersfield. But Crooks is more concerned with stopping the opposition scoring rather than bulging the net himself as he has spent most of his days as a defender or defensive midfielder. He certainly got a good grounding in the game, starting out in Manchester United’s famous academy before moving to Huddersfield and turning pro. He was so highly rated at Town that he was nominated for League One Apprentice of the Year, eventually missing out to Charlton's Jordan Cousins. After loan spells with Halifax and Radcliffe Borough, Huddersfield boss Mark Robins decided to throw Crooks into the first team at the start last season. But his debut turned into a disaster as they lost 4-0 to Bournemouth and Robins was axed, with Crooks never playing for them again. He bounced back during a loan spell with Accrington and eventually moved there permanently, impressing so much that boss Coleman tipped him to strike it rich in the game. He said: “There are just a couple of things he could iron out, and he’d be a millionaire, because there are millionaires who haven’t got his talent or his physique.” Vladislavs Gutkovskis Ross Brownlee/SNS Group Vladislavs Gutkovskis takes part in Rangers training The Latvian striker knows the way to goal, having netted an impressive 34 goals in 51 appearances for Skonto Riga, and at the age of 20 there is plenty of room for improvement. He was top scorer in the Latvian top flight last year, with 28 goals, and now looks destined to play at a higher level. Rangers look favourites to snap him up after taking Gutkovskis on trial and he has all the attributes to succeed in Scotland. The hitman has plenty of presence and is a bustling six footer who is good in the air. For a big man he also possesses plenty of pace and if he impresses at Murray Park then Gers would be wise to sign him up as Gutkovskis has already been on trial with English giants Everton and is sure to be a target for other clubs. http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-transfer-news/rangers-transfer-targets-meet-men-6974597
  10. The thing with the 2 week break in January is that in Scotland you can never tell what the weather will be like. It could be +10 degrees and sun or -20and snow and ice. The games before or after could be cancelled leaving a huge catch-up. I think they should just keep playing but if there is weather like Saturday forecast then cancel the whole competition for that weekend on time to give the players a break. Going by the weather forecast, last weekend's games could have been cancelled at least on the Thursday. Leaving it to 11.30 on the Saturday gave absolute no thought of the travelling support or even the players. If storm conditions are forecast the whole competition should be postponed on time.
  11. I wish big Lee all the best. He may not have been the best player in the world but you always got 100% effort. I hope he does well. Killie were also the only club not to vote us out of the SPL even though they only sat on the fence and never voted for us.
  12. For an amount that the English give as a tip.
  13. Yes indeed. Lazy typing.
  14. Talk that the Forth bridge may never open again at least for heavy goods vehicles.
  15. It is a well known fact we used to play in hoops. I am not sure where your going with that?
  16. Keith admitted on a blog that getting news was harder than writing. I guess this proves his point.
  17. I doubt that would mean he gets a Celtic shirt when signing for our youth setup.
  18. Why would he knock back Fulham where he could go to work on his bike with more money I would imagine and go to Swansea where he can't even speak the language.
  19. If there are other ways to get there and the pitch and weather conditions are playable then it will go through. The only time I can remember games being postponed for the weather(not pitch) is if there is snow or ice around the stadium that they can't clear in time. Given these conditions are not appropriate it shouldn't be cancelled. 1person is cold at 15 degrees and others are sub zero toughies.

The Tim joke at that time still haunts me. It was" the knew washing Powder. Gornik! Washes White out."
  21. Andy wrote a piece not so long ago. He still looks in regularly I think.
  22. We used to have a whole lot of awards including poster of the year. Funniest poster and the Gersnet hall of fame to name some. We have not done it for years though and I personally don't think it is still appropriate as we now have so many great posters. If we had writer of the year then we would have to choose one from all the fantastic writers and may risk losing some who feel the decision is incorrect. 26th is a fantastic poster but what about the work of the other fantastic writers with a different style. I am not going to name any in case I forget 1. I have no idea what Admin think of it but I prefer to keep the family feeling and not to put anyone above another.
  23. next on Warburton’s wish list at Rangers? Rangers boss Mark Warburton had scouts watching Chelsea U21s take on Sunderland. Rangers boss Mark Warburton told The Scottish Sun that he had scouts watching Chelsea U21s take on Premier League U21 league leaders Sunderland on Monday night. Gers boss Warburton is a big fan of the loan system, evident from his time at Brentford when he picked up Alex Pritchard and Jon Toral from Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal respectively. At Ibrox, his mentality of scouring the best talent at the top clubs hasn’t altered and he managed to strike another deal with Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, bringing in Gedion Zelalem. The talented manager’s style of play is ultimately a huge factor when it comes to loaning in players. When renowned coaches such as Maurico Pochettino and Arsene Wenger are happy for their youngster to join Warburton, it illustrates a trust and genuine belief that players will improve under his guidance. And as such, there could be a great opportunity for Rangers to strengthen their squad further in January. As reported by the Scottish Sun, Warburton had representatives watching Sunderland U21s at Chelsea and due to the latter’s huge squad, they are undoubtedly one club to keep an eye on. Chelsea’s transfer policy in recent years has seen them invest so much money in youth, bringing in more players that they can handle prompting a good majority to immediately leave on loan. Boss Jose Mourinho is seemingly happy for his youngsters to get game time elsewhere, and one particular player among his U21 ranks could be ready to test his abilities out on loan. Warburton’s representatives would have seen Tammy Abraham heavily involved on Monday, as the 18-year-old scored one penalty and miss another as Sunderland U21s ran out 3-1 winners. Abraham is predominantly a centre-forward, yet he is also capable of playing in wide areas and his versatility makes him a big threat in the final third. Abraham has been a prolific scorer for the youth teams, netting 14 goals in 13 matches for the U21s this season after a whopping 41-goal haul over three different age groups last season. He is an England U19 international, and scored twice in a victory over Switzerland last March, Rangers have a prolific scorer themselves in Martin Waghorn, yet beyond the former Leicester City man they don’t have quite another player like him in terms of goals scored. Kenny Miller is ageing, fellow loan star Nathan Oduwa is still very raw, therefore there is scope for Gers to try their hand at bringing in another attacking option in January – and why not Tammy Abraham? http://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2015/12/02/could-this-talented-chelsea-youngster-be-next-on-warburtons-w/
