Got to agree with you Craig - no other mediocre signing has received such overwhelming criticism.

If people have the right to judge which players are Rangers class then surely I've got the the right to judge which supporters are Rangers class? To me, I can't respect someone who would stop supporting their favourite club just because of the signing of a player they didn't like. At the risk of being on a high horse, I think it's childish and doesn't say much for loyalty. I may have slagged off PLG but one thing I never did was stop supporting Rangers because he was there. I also had a lot more justification as I was slagging off his actual performance as a manager, not just my personal prediction of how he would perform in the future. What got to me about PLG is that his results were rank but he refused to acknowledge anything was wrong even though it was obvious and continued to make the same mistakes because his ego was too large. This ego-trip was damaging to the club I support so I wanted him to shape up or ship out. Kenny Miller hasn't even kicked a ball yet so how can he really be judged so strongly? He won't be the player with the best pedigree we have signed but nor does he look like he'll be anywhere near the worst. In fact his past success has probably been well above average for players we have signed. Despite not winning the league, I think WS has done enough for us to warrant a reasonable amount of respect and enough to qualify him for backing for one more season. He thinks he can turn Miller into a good player for us and the player himself must have a lot of belief as he obviously knows the fans don't think he's good enough and he'll have to win us over. In fact that itself could bring the very best out of him as he's choosing to rise to the challenge. Everyone has a right to their opinion but that includes me. I think it's obvious I'm not a head nodder but when I see hysterical nonsense without much foundation, why can't I point it out? Semantically I don't think I've disparaged a single Rangers supporter. The ones I've slagged off say they no longer support Rangers so I'm actually judging non-Rangers fans. I'm of the opinion that a fan has to take the bad with the good and stay loyal, otherwise they are by definition not a fan - just someone with a passing interest in a team and maybe I'm a bit harsh on those kind of people, but when they act childishly about the club I'm fanatical about, it winds me up. I hate that, "if you don't do it my way, then I'm not playing" attitude. When anyone says they don't want to support Rangers anymore, then my attitude is, "good riddance" and I don't think I'm the only one.

I think we're a bit harsh on refs, as it's an incredibly difficult job. The only reason to me that they seem worse these days as we get clear, slow motion replays from about five different angles in EVERY game. Before we used to have about two cameras at one or two games. When the ref explained the unfortunate decisions against Dundee Utd, it made perfect sense, especially if you watch the replays with an open mind. My Sunday League team get loads of decisions against us but forget about it quickly as we can't be 100% sure we were right and haven't got a single replay to watch. I think that if we want to improve refereeing, it is to go down the rugby route and use TV replays. That way the controversy will be vastly reduced - or at least be more difficult to say who was right or wrong as it will become purely subjective about the interpretation of the camera footage. If anyone here can do better than our top refs, then get your qualifications and go and do it. And I can't imagine anyone here enjoying a tv camera watching your every move at work and thousands of people slagging off your every bad decision. I'm sure loads of people will think your pish at your job too.

Can't say I can get exited about a 33 year old reject from a mediocre club... Dailly might have done a decent job but I wan't excited in the slightest about him either. Wier may have been a great signing too, but it's Cuellar who has caused all the excitement. I'm hoping that we're going to move towards more long term team building this season as Walter had mostly to stop the rot for the last season and a half and so had some short team stop gaps.

What like Advocaat did with about 40M? Spending money doesn't guarantee anything, just ask Roman Abramovich. I'm sure Walter will have a reasonable budget but it will be in the confines of our income. We can't constantly spend more money than we have, that's why the UK is facing a credit crunch - and that's why Leeds are in League One. We have no chance of signing any big stars these days due to English teams getting 50M from TV; they are all out of our reach and we have to face it. We are competing with bottom end Prem teams and Championship clubs for players and there's not much we can do about it while the disparity of tv income is so great.

You might not agree with every Rangers signing but if one signing is going to stop YOU supporting Rangers, the YOU GTF, YOU're just not Rangers class!!! I can't stand all this greetin' over a signing. I support Rangers as a team and club, NOT individual players. They are just incidental to the cause of the club. Players come and players go, as do managers, I only support them when they are at Rangers. Too many people seem to think the club is like Big Brother or something. I don't agree with the Miller signing but if Walter thinks he's got what it takes then I'll give him a chance. If he's rubbish I'll want him dropped. However, nothing, NOTHING will stop me supporting or watching Rangers. I don't have such a frivolous or fickle relationship with the team I'm fanatical about. At the moment I'm far more disgusted with some so called fans attitude than the KM signing.

I get what you're saying but I don't personally think Lovenkrands and Sionko would add much. Sionko in particular was shocking for us and a couple of goals against Scotland doesn't change that. I agree that Ferguson has not been great of late and you need more than just playing for the shirt, but in one of his worst seasons he's still contributed more to the team than any season out of five for Lovenkrands. We need better players than both of Barry and Pete for the roles you suggest. I know playing for the shirt isn't evertything, but I'd rather have a reasonable player who gives his all than a more talented player who can't be bothered. Ideally I want great players who also play for the shirt or even if they don't are still highly motivated. Give Novo's motivation, energy and tenacity to a highly skillful player and you'll end up with someone world class - eg Gatusso.
-
Sionko did get a chance for Rangers and was rank which is why he was invited to leave. Lovenkrands too, was a big disappointment. He did little in five years and has no flexibility in position whatsoever. Can only play up front through the middle, yet is not a great striker. I really don't understand all the bleeding hearts for players who never made the grade for us AND who never even looked interested in Rangers whatsoever. We have been far more successful last season than for a while because we have players who play for the shirt and put in a shift. Neither of those two players ever did that and played in some pretty unsuccessful sides. I would by far rather play Novo than either of these players. I even think Burke has been a far better Rangers player than Sionko and I'd rather make Boyd a first choice players before Lovenkrands. I really can't understand the strange penchant for loyalty towards players who were obvious failures at Rangers. Or is it that support for the underdog sort of thing?

Just a thought, but is anyone going to now start a rival trust? The Gersnet supporters trust?

I've always wondered why Ferguson could not drop deep with Thomson and play beside him in the 4-2-3-1 formation instead of Hemdani or Dailly. That would leave his usual position vacant for Davis. Barry is supposed to play the more advanced role but rarely does. I think he played the holding role with Blackburn and has basically lost his ability or habit of playing further up the park meaning there is a big hole where he should be - in attack and defence. In a 4-4-2, as he seems undroppable, I think it would be better to try dropping Thomson and play Barry as the holding player and Davis as the play-maker - something that Barry is no longer good at.

So in what direction are the RST heading?
-
How many resignations is that now - six? How can the trust cease to be democratic when it is surely in the constitution? With so many resigning I can't help but think, that if they are doing so in protest against how someone has acted, that they would have been better staying and making a stand, as their number would be a pretty big block in any vote. By leaving, they give those they are against all the power and no opposition. I'm not admonishing them for resigning but just curious as to why they chose that line which to me can only play into the hands of whoever they are against. The lack of information is truly inexcusable for such a supposedly democratic organisation. As a member, I feel like I'm being treated like mushroom and the lack of information is very worrying. I realise that it's not always good to air your dirty washing in public, but sometimes it's necessary to preserve integrity and trust. I think the RST have blown any chance of being taken seriously and I can see now why SDM is not keen on having a fan representative on the board. If we had an RST man on the board, firstly he would be undermined by what is happening and secondly, he would be an embarrassment if he started bringing up suggestions to prevent our players playing for Scotland etc. It's petty hassle that the likes of SDM could do without in the boardroom. The trust were supposed to be more serious, professional and high-brow than just a supporters club but that is not the road they seem to be heading down.

What sites have you been browsing? The more dodgier ones?

It also seems to me that the latest RST statement has been very badly judged and given the RST ,and Rangers fans by proxy, some very bad press. I am a member of the RST who does not agree with any measures against the SFA or even the SPL. The SFA have done nothing wrong and the SPL have not broken any of their rules, they just didn't use common sense to bend a couple. I do think Dundee Utd deserve to be punished as they have unfairly slandered Rangers as cheats due to a couple of unfortunate refereeing decisions. Their comments have totally lacked integrity and can you imagine evey club threatening to go to court over every decision that television shows to be wrong? There would be thousands of court cases every year and Rangers would probably be instigating a fair chunk of them. They are the cheats for trying to get decisions biased for them and biased against Rangers. I noticed they didn't once mention the Barry Ferguson claim for a penalty/free kick, nor the three incorrect off-side decisions against Rangers, one of which would have had Novo one on one on the keeper. However, I don't know what something like boycotting Tannadice would achieve.

I don't think Frankie was saying the £10 wasn't value for money - it seems to me he was saying that while it was wisely spent before, it may not be that way in future.

One thing the article brings up is that losing the league has effectively put Walter back one year. We can't relax and play nice football when it's so imperative to win the league. By default it NEEDS to be another scrappy season but this time concentrating on the league and sacrificing the other competitions. The reporter is right that we also require to get into the CL for the money and kudos but once there, it no longer matters. The cups don't matter either. Winning the league has got to be the focus except for four games for CL qualification which will help us buy players to do it. We HAVE to be patient this year and put up one more time with a lesser aestheticism in our football. We cannot go into Walter's phase 2 till we win the league.

How many will support Miller if he plays like a headless chicken, scores no goals and gets picked every game? That's the danger.
-
I've no idea of VIinnicombe's true origin but he did play for England U21's and was consistently considered as English.
-
Nobody liked the combination of Clelland and Laudrup then? That was a bit like Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis.
-
When you think about our finances compared to down south, a mid-table Premiership player isn't that bad -just not very exciting. I think we'd prefer a mid-table La Liga or Serie A player but ironically the Premiership is now considered a better league than those.
-
Maybe Boyd and Miller can coach each other for their opposite strengths... If Miller could teach Boyd how to hold the ball up and work industriously and Boyd could teach Miller how to get in the box and score, then we could have two very good players. Neither seems to want to learn though...

The first one is good the rest are gash. The red one looks like a very old Aberdeen strip in the late 70's.

Thomson is one of the few players we should be building a team round. We can't let him go except for silly money. Players I'd really like to hold on to despite any bids are MacGregor, Cuellar, Smith (if he gets fit and back to previous form), Thomson, maybe Beasley, Naismith and Fleck. I'd also like to keep Novo to show other players how to play for a club like Rangers. Whittaker also needs a chance but I'm not stuck on him yet. If I had the ability to choose three players for whom I could veto their transfers it would be Cuellar, Thomson and Fleck.

But the ordinary man (or woman) gets the use of the improved infrastructure...
