  1. I think that's just the one focused on. They could bring us up for "We hate Celtic, FENIAN bastards". But we could easily sing "We hate Celtic, they are bastards". And then there's "F*** the pope and the Vatican" which really should be "even up to Aberdeen". And then there's No pope of rome which should probably be banned too. I do think we're a bunch of hypocrites slagging Celtic off for being plastic paddies and then singing "Build my gallows". And doesn't singing the sash make us plastic masons? It's no wonder Ibrox is supposed to be a morgue when we have so few real Rangers songs and catchy ones at that. The quiet fans are probably the ones who care about Rangers but not much about Ireland, the pope, fenians, the queen or the OO. And the longer we sing the non Rangers songs the less likely the quiet fans will sing even if we start to sing Rangers songs again as they'll be used to watching the game as a passive experience.
  2. Colshy, are you saying you may not be able to stop yourself singing non-Rangers songs at Ibrox that will harm our club? If you do sing them, you are an enemy of Rangers FC, not a supporter. I for one will have no respect for you as you will be delibrately harming the club I love. You will be worse than a Tim because you should have the best interests of our club at heart while they don't give a shit.
  3. I think what you are trying to say is that we have probably the worst fans in the world. You're saying they will not sing unless it's about killing fenians and fucking the pope or even doing a Celtic by singing about their home in Ireland ieven though they are Scottish (Build my gallows). If that's true then it's a complete embarrassment. Maybe in the long run we'll benefit by replacing these strange people with fans who really want to get behind the team and sing songs about Rangers. Maybe that'll also help the team play better.
  4. If simply changing words to the likes of "We are RANGERS boys" and "CELTIC blood" is unacceptable to you and you'd rather jeopordise the club, then you really have to ask "What kind of Rangers fan are you?" In my opinion not at all. I'd be proud to call my self a Rangers boy and don't know why I'd want to call myself a Billy boy which seems to be a member of a 60's razor gang. You can spin the bigotry all you like with Alistair Campbell like semantic arguements. But in the reality, if you're truly not bigotted, you would try pretty hard not to sound like one. I don't know why anyone has some strange need to mention the word "fenian" at all never mind every week. The word's meaning is now debatable anyway so even if you want to talk politics, why not use a word that is less ambiguous and that people understand? You may be able to argue some ancient meanings of the word but it still begs the question of why you have to use it. If anyone really wants to argue about semantics, you'd have to include in your discussion why so many Rangers fans want to have sex with the pope... Ah but that's different isn't it?
  5. I know what you mean and I remember an interview with one of the players about training and he said they were working on passing and moving...
  6. Ah I see...
  7. Isn't PLG suppose to be at the finals to scout for players? I look forward to him signing a few young Scots and Spaniards.
  8. Vennegoor of Hesselink is an outstanding player but I can't see Celtic affording him. He must be worth over 7M surely. Ironically he's the one I mentioned when someone asked who would you like to see come to Rangers.
  9. Adam doesn't fit the profile of that posiition in PLG's formation. It will be Hemdani. If Adam plays it will be on the left of the attacking part of the midfield. Novo will probably only get on as a sub or instead of Adam but you may see Rae or Murray on the left as Adam has quite looked the business yet.
  10. The trouble is, they may not be breaking the rules. The new rules are for racism and sectarianism. Celtic can argue that singing about the IRA is political... Even if they could be punished for this, there is a feeling among Celtic fans that only the away support sing these songs and they have been all but erradicated from CP. If that's the case then they won't have a case to answer as Celtic can only be made responsible for their home support.
  11. So you want UEFA to eff off with their champions league and UEFA cup? Well the fact is they have the power to tell us to eff off out of their competitions. People have done many bad things for years, it never justifies it. Looks like you might have to find somewhere else away from Ibrox to keep on singing your songs. That will be a test to see if you are a Rangers fan or a fan of sectarian songs. That's very debatable. How can you say an atmosphere of hate is a "good" atmosphere? Loud maybe, but good??? Take away the hate and maybe we will have a good atmosphere with better songs being sung just as loudly. If you're only there to sing about the pope and fenians then you won't be missed, we need Rangers fans at Ibrox who are actually there to watch and support the team. Well you'll be a good test to see if Rangers start kicking people out. Let us know when you get banned from Ibrox...
  12. But I think the guy only has one year left on his contract so we could get him next year for free or cheap in January... AV are not really in a position to play hardball and 500K IS a lot to us these days when it's at least an 8th of our annual transfer budget.
  13. I agree with you Jim. If you should sing about your heritage because you're a British team then every team in Britain should sing these songs, it would make all the teams sound the same. Why labour the point that we're British when it's straight from the ministry of the bleedin' obvious and there's the fact that we're only one British team out of 134? Every Scottish team we play is also British so what's the point? For the same reason I wouldn't really want us to sing Flower of Scotland or suchlike against other Scottish teams. I would prefer us to be more oriented towards our club like most fans of other clubs. In fact I only think we do it because Celtic go on about being Irish. But to actually define ourselves by what Celtic do is pretty poor in my opinion. And it just doesn't make sense against other British teams. Maybe that's the sad part, many of our fans are more defined by Celtic than by Rangers.
  14. Yep, Slovenia. I cycled there from Graz in Austria and then on to Croatia. Not the nicest city in the world (especially compared to Graz) but the countryside around it is pretty picturesque. There's a "Scottish" pub but as none of the staff speak English we weren't made particularly welcome...
  15. PS I was against giving Vignal 12 grand a week and glad when we told him where to go, so how the hell did we agree to pay Bernard 17K? I thought Vignal was average but passable whereas Bernard is just pants. The only silver lining is that we've discovered a great new talent in Smith who will hopefully go on to be a Rangers and Scotland great.
  16. Barring a huge injury crisis, he doesn't have a hope in hell...
  17. Don't think much of it at all, not catchy in the slightest, a bit downbeat and pretty old fashioned. I'll bet it never catches on with the majority of fans. The words aren't even applicable to any time served Rangers fan. More for the nostalgic than anything else. Very disappointed.
  18. If you think us beating them 6-1 on aggregate as "nearly" putting us out you'd be almost right! It was 2001 in the 2nd qualifier of the CL under DA. We then lost to Fenerbache in the 3rd round and went into the UEFA where we beat Anzhi Makhachkala in Warsaw due to the Chechnyan troubles, then Dinamo Moscow, and then put out PSG on penalties after both teams failed to score after 3.5 hours of football. After Christmas, Eck took over and we narrowly lost to Feyenoord, the eventual winners, after Van Hoydonk scored two identical free kicks.
  19. Ride of the Valkyries.
  20. I agree with you Pete. There are far too many plastic prods at Ibrox whose behaviour in the name of the church would, I presume, be very embarrassing for the Kirk. Why would we want to encourage the blasphemous behaviour that seems to have it's roots at Ibrox? I would assume the real presbyterians would far rather show their devotion to Christ and God in a church on Sunday, rather than be surrounded by the disingenuous and negative songs and chants coming from the Ibrox stands. If there are some lapsed religious people at Ibrox, maybe the removal of this aspect will actually encourage them back to church instead of Ibrox to celebrate their religion... (they can then go to Ibrox to watch football instead). There they can be taught about being good people by learned men rather than possibly learn from some uber-pseudo-prod, loud mouthed alpha male about how to spew hate at fenians (meaning catholics) and the pope.
  21. You can't compare with Druncan as he was on probation at the time and the police decided to send a report to the procurator fiscal.
  22. Totally agree with you Stewarty. We should keep religious issues out of Rangers as much as possible and maybe we'll lose the negative, pseudo religious stereotype that has held us back for decades.
  23. I think goals in friendlies and reserve games can be ignored... Let's see how long it takes him to score a competative goal.
  24. I never thought this was over but each side will be posturing in trying to get nearest to the price they want.
