3-2 now. Celtic falling apart.

Gazza is mentally ill and has been for most of his adult life - it's just football provided his solace away from his personal demons - something he now doesn't have and so it's his mental state and alcoholism which dominate his life. He's been given help but refuses to properly embrace it - and continues to spiral downwards as a result. It's sad, but there's little you can do for someone who won't be helped. He could control his problems if only he'd accept professional help. But he won't. And former Ranger or not doesn't change that.

Dare I say we've dodged a bullet with Thomson.

How's our old hero doing down there anyway?

Absolutely hated that film.

So the same paper which printed anti Boruc articles including papparazzi pictures of him with some mob girlfriend, plus used the headline 'Gunners 3 - 0 Gonners' is in actual fact a pro timmy paper? Give me a break. There is a real paranoia with supporters from the OF regarding the press - Celtic were bad for it in the 90s, and now we've joined them.
-
tbh, in two successive matches Adam stamped on opposition players while playing for us. No deal was ever made of it by the media, the fans, or anyone else for that matter. I've disliked his attitude ever since that, and was glad he left. That he bloomed at Blackpool is neither here nor there.
-
If he does something timmy doesn't like, he will be chanted as a mason. The facts of his background are completely irrelevant to football fans. If a protestant ref took charge of an OF game and gave a bad call against us, we'd be calling him a ******. Football supporters rarely scrutinise facts - they just give out abuse.

Liverpool have a good squad (Johnson, Cole, Gerrard, Torres, Kuyt, Mascherano) but the deterioration of the Rafa regime has been left to rot and Hodgson, a very good manager, is simply in the wrong job.
-
If it had been only coins, I doubt any similar examples would have been used. But because it was unusual items like conkers, past comparisons were made. Happens in the media all the time. Like when you see an incident on MOTD which is unusual, they often trowl the archives to see if anything similar happened before.

I know, I said that. It's part of the reason I believe they're being over rated. Why did they lose then to a rather out of form Man Utd at home? I'm not denying they're a very good team, but they've not yet beaten a really good big team this season. Either drawn or lost. And that suggests the hysteria over them is a little misguided.
-
Valencia top the table in La Liga having beaten only bottom half sides and Bursaspor - they drew with Atletico and lost to Barca. They also lost to Man Utd. They are a good team and I am not underestimating them, but they're being over-rated. Close scrutiny of their season so far doesn't actually herald them as special. That said, they will be very tough opposition on Wednesday by our standards.

As others are saying, him having a quiet period is nothing new, it's the kind of player he is. I used to think it was due to his being played on the right of midfield, but it's just because he's not a consistent player.

His stock has been steadily climbing pretty much since he displaced Letizi. His stupendous save against Bremen in 2008 gave some idea of how much he'd bloomed since becoming our established number 1, and this season he's been absolutely fantastic at quite simply the highest levels - qualifying for the Euros, including another virtuoso display against the best team in the world, plus in the CL where he has kept 2 clean sheets including one V UTD. The guy is hot property now and also seems to have displaced Gordon as the national #1. He's been linked away in the past, to Newcastle and Benfica in particular, but thankfully he remains ours. The question is how long will that remain the case? He's a Premiership quality keeper, and surely the vultures will start circling soon. Every player has his price and that includes McGregor, so is there any realistic chance we can hold onto him past January? UTD and Arsenal are both really in the hunt for a new keeper, and while Given seems likely to go to Arsenal, with UTD having a scout at Hampden, could they come in for him? Or is there any chance we can keep him?

Not that this has a great deal to with anything, but I suspect I know as much about the Reformation and Luther as you do. Maybe more. Take it you know what indulgences were?

That I can agree with :spl:

It's tempting bait, but I'm not biting. I'll just respect what you all think and disagree strongly with it. And move on.
-
I'll respectfully disagree with you - and the following from a fellow bear I know off this forum sums up how I feel about it: I think that hits the nail on the head more than anything else. Ach, I said I was bowing out of this

I'm not saying the thread isn't valid, I'm saying we're not alone in feeling this way. Which is something you seem to be one of the few to recognise. Oh and you're spot on about the Sheep, they do hate us more than they love Aberdeen. No doubt about that.

Because in this case there's nothing anti Rangers? Christ, because you don't see diddy club players being hung for various offences you take that as an attack on Rangers. How can we be the 'victims' when we're not being targeted. btw, central West Scotland press is the most important in the country, and it doesn't sell a paper to complain about Zander Diamond. It does to plaster Boruc over the front page, or McGregor. The OF are always targeted, but most fans overlook the attacks on the other team. Gah, I am done here, I can see I'm in the minority so I'll bow out. Pointless to continue.

Ach well, if you all want to slap each other on the back and play the paranoid victims, be my guest. I'm not taking part in it. *cue 100 groans against this post*

I mean by us - the fans of the club. I don't read papers for the reasons you've quoted.
-
Reading it with blue tinted specs I agree with you, but when tims read it they see it with green tinted specs and see something different. Point being that there is no particular conspiracy - just consistently shite journalism which lays in the gutter to sell papers and gain web hits. Our media is dire, and targets everyone, not just us or them. But it's easier to play the victim rather than trying to look at the bigger picture. (would a Rangers hating press have targeted Boruc in the way it did? Would it have shown a cracked Celtic crest? There are a million anti tim stories in the press, just like there's a million anti us stories too.) We see what we want to see.

You do realise that if you changed a few words in that, you'd sound like a tim? They all think the media etc is conspiring against them - they call it Daily Ranger for a reason. My point is I believe all OF fans are equally paranoid about conspiracies and agendas, and it gts tiresome reading that paranoia, whoever's behind it. Our fans believe the refs are against us, their fans call them 'masons' for similar reasons. We're all as bad as each other imo.

I've been personally rather amazed how we're doing tbh. Not only are we competing against the cream of Europe every second week in the CL and maintaining an imperious domestic campaign, not only that, but we're doing all this with practically half the size of squad Celtic have. Both sides have a 100% record this season, but we're doing it under much greater pressure and with a far smaller squad. I don't think this team is being given a quarter of the credit it's due.
