I'm torn between this and a realistic chance of qualifying. If we get Chelsea and Real, best we can get is 3rd. And I'd love to see us in the last 16, for financial and credibility reasons. So it's for this reason I don't think I really have a preference at all and will take what we're given.

Hibernian 0 - 3 Rangers: Player Ratings and MoM Poll
Danny replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
I'm going to be knee jerk and vote :vw: as motm. Miller came a very close second. -
I think the difference between Martin and Weiss is that Weiss came on and changed the game - don't get me wrong, we were in the lead already, but we weren't controlling the match. Weiss came on and we immediately looked in easy street. The lad's far too good for the SPL and it's a privilege to have a player of that quality at Ibrox.

According to the commentators today Walter's on record as wanting Chelsea and Real Madrid in the CL. Can anyone confirm he said anything like this?

Looks like Dado taught our new man well

If we get a group like Utd, Madrid and Twente, we will get farked whether we've learned lessons or not.

Big fan of Bellamy me, always have been - except when he was at timmy.

Great to the first part, but why's he not going to play on Sunday.

Get raped in both games. Simple as.

I know it's not till next...Thursday is it, but wanted to discuss it now anyway. Looking at the seedings: http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/uefa/seedcl2010.html (near the bottom) It seems if all of of Sevilla, Spurs, Bremen and Zenit go out in the qualifying stage, we're in pot 2 again. Not gonna happen I don't think despite Sevilla and Spurs' poor first leg results. We'd prefer pot 2 because there are some humdingers of a draw we can get. I know a lot of you would rather lose to Inter than Sevilla, but serious humiliation could occur if we get Europe's heavyweights. That said, there's a part of me that wants the glamour ties given how well we initially did in our last group of death (Barca, Lyon and Stuttgart). We'd expect less from such a hard group.

Title I get, but Sampdoria are in the CL too. Still, not complaining one bit.

If Sevilla trash us 4-1 what would Barcelona or Inter do?

Should be sealed by tomorrow. Thank fucking fuck.

One of those teams were in a group we qualified from...

My view last season was that the money for getting to the last 16 from a realistic group outweighed any sexiness in the glamour ties we could get. I don't know what I want this year. Do we really want to be violated by the likes of Chelsea, Utd, Barcelona or Madrid?

So am I - I meant the entire Aaron fiasco, whether Walter was right or wrong. At the end of the day we signed a player we didn't use - so either our scouting wasn't up to cop or Walter was wrong. Either way, I don't want another Aaron situation. I've never heard of it, but you clearly have

We were in a dream group last year - the only one we could have qualified from. To get utterly fucked in that group was shambolic.
-
Last season we had one signing - Rothen. Who admittedly was superb against VfB but that's history now. Anyway, now that we look to have reinforced with some real quality and will hopefully play Davis in the middle, we have a much better outlook for the CL than we did a week ago. We just need some work on that defence. It worries me.
-
Regarding the SPL I'm not so concerned - a 60 year Weir could still handle it. It's the CL where we got anally violated last season with Weir/McCulloch/Bougherra at the back. We have Weir, Bougherra, Webster - that's our lot for central defence. And while Bougherra and Webster doesn't fill me with dread, I cannot see Walter dropping Weir...well...ever really. And in the CL...put simply he can't handle that level any more, if he ever could. What is Walter going to deploy at the back in matches against Europe's finest? We might now be looking quite good in midfield and attack and but at the back we're hardly blessed with Ferdinand and Vidic.
-
My hopes/expectations for this season, now, are: Win the league and qualify for the last 16 of the CL, 3rd group place at worst.
-
Believe it or not you're probably in the majority. It's I who places great importance on Europe who seems to be in the minority these days.
-
Now that we look to have brought in two damn good players in Weiss and Jelavic, my negative CL aspirations have become a lot more positive now. Still to be completed of course, but I don't expect a drubbing in that competition like I did.

TB's been rather overenthusiastically promoting Miller's departure for ages. I can only assume he's trolling.

Surely it's 'undisclosed' for a reason.
