The guy's a left winger, that's where he'll play surely.
-
Europe will never be anything other than 4-5-1 under Walter imo. I'd hazard a guess at Jelavic up top with Edu Davis and McCulloch in the middle and Weiss on the left and Naismith on the right. On the counter that would easily switch to a 4-3-3

Be amazed, and gutted, if Miller left. Lafferty is a talented striker who's done well at a higher level than the SPL (International for his country) and I would imagine he'll be deployed as and when needed. He's never impressed me but I'd keep him for squad depth. Naismith has shown some versatility - striker, winger and CM - he's another one who will feature according to the conditions.
-
I think like with any team it will rotate, and when you have enough players, you have the ability to do that - injuries and suspensions will dictate that we may not always have all 4 of our main front men (Miller, Beattie, Lafferty and Jelavic) all the time.
-
A really good acquisition for us - but because of his age I fear Walter benching him all the time and not deploying him. Truth is this is the kind of quality we need for the CL, I just hope he features. Another Aaron would do my head in.
-
Truth is any player of quality will cost money. It's only because we don't have a huge amount of the stuff that some fans see this as risky - I see it as us paying the going rate for a player of this ability, something we don't normally have the ability to do.
-
Weiss and Jelavic are two players who I believe can make the difference for us in the CL. That's the level of quality we needed in, and now my expectations of getting gubbed in that tournament aren't quite so pessimistic.
-
Football doesn't work that way. One will get injured, or suspended, and squad rotation will always happen.
-
I don't think this signing would have any impact on Miller's future. We need more depth, period. Doesn't have to come at the cost of one player or another. Bench on Saturday was one striker, one keeper, and a bunch of kids.

I saw links and users on a certain site being banned for copyright the other day. Definitely safer to keep these links off the board.

Apparently we just signed him... http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.index.hr%2Fsport%2Fclanak%2Fnikica-jelavic-potpisao-za-rangerse%2F507220.aspx&sl=hr&tl=en&hl=&ie=UTF-8

Ain't it Talk about on and off.
-
Isn't that one dead in the water. Heard about it ages ago but no follow up.
-
I've just been reliably informed the video on that story is from before we signed Beattie.
-
I say we'll sign him and not sign him.
-
Yup, I've heard from 'seperate sources' that this one is really back on. Apparently he will be in Glasgow tonight. Believe it if you want, I am just the messenger.
-
I just seem to recall aside those goals he was a bit slow to get going. But we're going back almost 2 years now so who cares
-
We don't have enough players to do that. You gave folk pelters for having the same attitude about Lafferty. Our squad is too thin to allow us to let any player go without quarrel.
-
He's exceptional. Very good player, one of the most dangerous and effective in the EPL. Made mincemeat of us when he was with timmy and that is why I as one of many did not want him back at the Meccanodome.
-
SO, erm, this one's...urm, back on?
-
As I recall he actually had a very slow start to his career here, didn't get going till around October.
-
Not sure he's part of the strongest Scotland midfield. I honestly consider him a bit over rated.

The truth about Thomson is this: I doubt any true Rangers fan wishes any ill on him, indeed if given the choice we'd opt for him to flourish in England as opposed to rotting away on the treatment table. The problem is that as a player for us, he spent about half his time ON the treatment table and in only about 30% of his performances did he really have any sort of impact. He was a functional, occasionally impressive player whose exceptional displays I can count on one hand (Celtic at Ibrox last season and Dundee Utd at Ibrox in the 3-3 the season before I think it was, stand out in particular) and whose average to decent displays made up the majority of his time here. The rest he was either a lumbering hatchet man whose timing was awful, or he was completely anonymous. Back to my original point, and a choice - well we're not given that choice, and personally due to his rather fragmented time at Ibrox I'm not overly bothered about his fate in England so I choose neither him flourishing nor being injured - I am apathetic. A player has to have had a real impact, usually a good one, for me to truly want to take an interest once they leave us.

I quit that place a year ago - turned into an out of control animal miles off what its original vision appeared to be. Gersnet isn't perfect, and isn't the busiest, but there generally appears a level of respect on here for each other you just don't get on the bigger forums.

My only reaction is 'thank God he wasn't playing for us when this happened'. I'm not really that interested in him tbh.
