  1. Celtic. 2003. Seville. Rab Douglas. Yes, I know a lot of fans have this misguided notion of Alexander in goals over McGregor. And I got bored arguing about it a long time ago now so I'm not going to restart now.
  2. Hardly. Campbell is a top defender and I for one do not want him to go to Timmy.
  3. Problem they have is their glorious past. Over 20 years since a league title - and they expect more. Once upon a time they were the benchmark in England, now Utd and Chelsea are. But Scousers can't get their head around that. A club like Liverpool these days is upper midtable - that is how good/bad they are.
  4. Looks like this story was a bit premature. Bullard is only considering the move.
  5. Respect to him for making a football decision and not a money one. Certain others could learn a thing or two from that.
  6. Had to giggle slightly at this - if it's true, then we are showing brass neck because we sold 30 year old Pedro Mendes for almost £2m.
  7. Not a player I ever rated - still seems to be living off his FA Cup solo goal of 4 or so years ago for Preston, and didn't really make any impression at all at Portsmouth or Burnley. He has 9 goals in 3 or 4 seasons in the EPL - in saying that he did quite well for Preston in the Championship which is better than the SPL, so he might be ok domestically. CL would be another matter though.
  8. An adequate backup but absolutely nothing more than that. Not an especially great goalkeeper, but sufficient when McGregor is not available. Which is exactly what you expect of your deputy.
  9. He was a permanent 6/10 player. He never imposed himself, but never did much wrong either. He was a very ordinary player with absolutely nothing to elevate him above any other player in the team. He was the very definition of average. Which is why I think this is a terrific move for him, and way better than he might have hoped.
  10. A very very good move for him - now finds himself at a higher level than the SPL with a team which promises a fair amount. Good luck to him, and I forgive *that* display at Easter Road in 2009. Also nice to see Lambert refer to us as a massive team.
  11. I mentioned him on the bench.
  12. In a better league than the SPL.
  13. So Bullard has ended up in the backwater of the SPL. And doesn't seem too thrilled about it.
  14. They're not cheap, or easy to find.
  15. Right now I can't deny our squad is thin, and definitely needs some additions this summer. Whether it gets any is another question, but looking at the players we definitely have right now, the first team doesn't seem quite so bad as what I'd originally feared. If you tweak the formation to a 4-3-3 we're still left with a pretty robust midfield and attack. The defence is definitely a question area, but let's see what we definitely have: :sw::aw::sp: :sd::me::kt: :sn::kl: I mean it's not all that bad is it? Davis gets to play central midfield, with Edu in the holding role. Lafferty plays as a left prong in attack, while Naismith showed his value in the Cup final. And a resurgent Webster is a decent option at the back. And we still have Broadfoot, Alexander, McCulloch, Velicka, Fleck in reserve. I'm not saying it's a world beating squad but it's not that bad. And with the possibility of new signings, if that happens, we look better than maybe we feared we would.
  16. I mean outwith Celtic, the SPL is barely League 2 level. In the Championship, Boyd would be going up weekly against sides as good as and better than Celtic, and in the Premiership he'd be up against much much better than Celtic every match. How exactly is he going to cope with that level of football?
  17. He has got something to prove here, he never scored a meaningful goal in his entire SPL career against Celtic.
  18. Disagree, I'd say he's under rated. I rate him very highly indeed, and he's proven many times how good he is. He just struggles with consistency, a crime many players are guilty of.
  19. According to Boyd, you're wrong.
  20. I'll bet folk thought the same thing in 2007 when we signed Webster, Ehiogu, and Weir. Worked out ok.
  21. In the absence of both Scotland and the Czechs, I'll probably support Spain. I also think they have a revoltingly brilliant squad and a great chance of winning their first world cup. I don't think England have the slightest chance. Their normal level is to make it to the quarters, but I'd be surprised if they get that far this time.
  22. Boyd going to Turkey is no more strange than Bougherra going there. But in both cases it's still a very odd choice. Unless we're talking about money in which case it makes perfect sense.
  23. This smacks of damage control imo. What's so bad about playing for Rangers and being top scorer? Why does he need a 'new challenge'? The only new challenge he wants is picking a new bank account for all the cash he'll get at his new team. I was also reading Mols in the Times yesterday, and it's true that whatever team he goes to will have to mould and build themselves around him - because he is such an inflexible striker. And I can't see any team holding him in as high a regard as that. But I might be wrong.
  24. Where has this £5M figure been quoted from?
