  1. And Chris Killen. tbh this forum doesn't appear to be reflecting the views I'm getting elsewhere. Yours is more indicative of how others I've spoken to feel - that for such a dyed in the wool Ranjur, moving to such a tim infested dump is really, really strange and slightly offensive.
  2. I'm delighted he's gone to be perfectly honest with you Just confused at his choice of destination.
  3. Just like Lovenkrands had previous playing there for us then doing so for Newcastle and Schalke. Never made him any good at it
  4. Not when they were in the Premiership.
  5. The only positive I can give him is that the Championship as a whole is a big step up from the SPL. Brough aren't as big a side as either of the OF though. Nowhere near it. But they play in a better league.
  6. Usually while being played out of position though. Why, when it's anything but his favoured slot. You wouldn't expect Boyd to excel there, so why should Lafferty?
  7. And others who will defend him likewise. Now that he's gone, let us all just move on from this.
  8. I'd be happier with Papac at CB than Weir.
  9. I'd be genuinely gutted if Weir is first choice CB next season. He's given us great service, I'm not denying that, but if we still have both Bougherra and Wilson, they surely have to be first choice pairing. And if we don't, we surely have to sign someone new. It would, imho, show absolutely no ambition to continue with Weir at CB. And we'll get raped in the CL.
  10. Kyle has shown in patches that he can score. In fact his scoring record was far better than Boyd's at the end of the season, where the latter's form deteriorated into a total shambles. Kyle's scored simple goals and great goals, and while among our fans he will always be an acquired taste, he's never hid and has always worked hard wherever he's played. Even our own assistant manager Ally McCoist has publicly admitted we've been unfair on him playing him out on the left wing a lot - played up front is his strength and he's generally done well there. I'm not going to sit here and claim he will replace Boyd's goals, goal for goal, but Boyd's dire form while we still won the title shows that it's not strictly necessary to do so.
  11. I'm really surprised he's gone somewhere with so many ex-tims. For such a 'dyed in the wool Ranjur' this is a very confusing move for him. And it is, as others say, very uninspiring - a mediocre Championship side with fairly average ambitions. Odd, really odd.
  12. . Touche
  13. His value will already have gone up to about £5M on the back of that goal I'll bet.
  14. Been a very insipid world cup so far I have to say. A few slightly bright moments but overall very underwhelming. No one has really stood out in either individual player or country. As Gribz put it, the onus is on Brazil and Spain to brighten this tournament up.
  15. Took way longer than expected
  16. I'd take him. Played very well against Mexico with a particularly fine goal.
  17. It does seem that Webster is in the form of his life and we're getting him back at a very good time. In saying that I'd still prefer a Bougherra Wilson partnership next season, but the chances of both remaining are slim so Webster is a more than able replacement for either.
  18. tbh it's a contextual comment and can apply depending on circumstances. I'm not sure what more McGregor can achieve at Rangers - he's been here all his career bar that loan spell, and has played in the CL and the then Uefa Cup. We're not good enough, as things stand, to progress to the last 16 of the CL again, and he's achieved that anyway. It's a tired old line, but not strictly one which is untrue. More one which is depressing to hear.
  19. The major difference between McGregor and Boyd here is that Boyd's statement was directly from him, stating he wanted a new challenge and it was time to move on etc. McGregor's 'quote' is an indirect and potentially innaccurate comment from his agent. But I do admit McGregor's own silence suggests he is at least considering the move.
  20. :sw::mb::wilson::sp: :sd::me::lm: :sn::kl: Solid 4-3-3 with attacking intent.
  21. You could say the above about Thierry Henry too - he has been average at Barca and was dire for Juve but was absolutely phenomenal for Arsenal. Sometimes even class doesn't rise to the top in the wrong conditions. Maybe the question should be about ability and not success? Sometimes fairly average players can achieve a lot in their career - how else would a decent but nothing else defender in Materazzi win the sodding world cup.
  22. Certainly for us.
  23. And still this rumbles on I see.
  24. McGregor is one of the few players we could demand a premium for, so anything less than £7M shouldn't be entertained. That said, we would be better off keeping players as good as him, as finding another McGregor won't be easy, and Alexander is never good enough to be number 1.
  25. Laudrups. Brian was man marked by about 3 players in Europe every time and our entire tactic was 'give it to him' - never stood a chance. Did superbly for his country in a more balanced team.
