  1. An immaculate minutes silence observed for remembrance Sunday before the kick off of this match.
  2. Doubt they or anybody else for that matter would be so financially reckless for a 30 year old. Neymar who fetched a vast sum is at least only 25 and just coming into his prime years.
  3. Munich police flares warning to Celtic fans travelling to Germany for big Champions League game POLICE have warned Celtic fans travelling to Germany for the crunch Champions League game with Bayern Munich that they will be prosecuted if they use flares. Bayern police have also told those fans without tickets that they won't find any on the black market and said they won't find a pub around the stadium that will show the game. And they warned: "Peaceful, enthusiastic supporters are warmly welcome in Munich. On the other side the police will deal firmly with aggressive or violent persons." The Wednesday match at the Allianz Arena in Munich is a must-win for both teams who have ambitions to progress out of the group stages of the Champions League. And the Munich police have taken the chance to warn fans on what they can expect when they arrive. Celtic faced a wait to get clearance for a safety certificate in July after police warnings over flares set off by fans. At a meeting in June, Police Scotland raised concerns with the club about fans at the match against Hearts on May 21 when several flares were set off from the stand in the 67th minute to celebrate the Lisbon Lions European Cup triumph. Bayern police have warned that the use of pyrotechnical objects is "strictly prohibited" in Munich and misuse will "be prosecuted consequently". The force warned that after the terrorist attacks in Paris security measures have increased and added: "Please be aware that the use of firecrackers could cause a panic situation amongst the spectators. In this context we want to point out that CCTV is in operation in the surrounding area of the stadium as well as the entire stadium." The Munich force warned that in Bavaria the possession of "little amounts of drugs even for personal use" will be prosecuted. And the police added: "The tickets for this matchday are already sold out. Even on the black market there is no chance to get a ticket for this match. Please have in mind that there are no pubs or bars arround the stadium to see the match on TV. The only chance to see the match on TV could be in the city centre." They stressed that their operational concept was focused on "dialogue and conflict management by means of communication". "If you have problems or questions during your stay, you can turn to any police officer for help. In addition to this general offer, the police has appointed 'information officers' wearing white uniform hats who are on duty in the city centre and at the arena." The force message concluded: "The Munich police wishes you a good and fair match and a pleasant stay in Munich." http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/news/15590482.Munich_police_flares_warning_to_Celtic_fans_travelling_to_Germany_for_big_Champions_League_game/?ref=mr&lp=8#comments-anchor
  4. Official Rangers Podcast S2 E14 https://rangers.co.uk/news/headlines/official-rangers-podcast-s2-e14/
  5. Back around the 1990's I was in Hamilton town centre and saw one of the foreign imports of that time in an electronics store obviously looking for something or other and he had one of the coaching staff who was decked out in tracksuit etc with him. Perhaps driving him around and handling any talking that was required.
  6. I would love to see him partnered with a tall ruffian like Moult. Opposing defences wouldn't know which one to focus on.
  7. COLIN STEIN knows all about hitting the ground running. As starts go, the one he made to his Rangers career couldn’t have been much better. Now he hopes current Ibrox marksman Alfredo Morelos can build on his encouraging opening to life in Light Blue and continue to lead the way for Pedro Caixinha’s side this term. Stein moved from Hibernian in 1968 and immediately endeared himself to supporters as he netted a hat-trick in the league match with Arbroath at Gayfield. That was followed up with another three strikes on his Ibrox bow against Hibernian as the Gers recorded a 6-1 win. And just days later Stein completed a remarkable run by netting a brace in the Fairs Cup success away to Dundalk. It was the start of a glorious Gers career for the striker as he went on to become a Light Blues legend. The chances of Morelos following in his footsteps and firing Rangers to European glory are slim but the Colombian has made his own impression on the Ibrox crowd so far this term. After getting off and running with a double against Dunfermline, the 21-year-old hit six goals in his next four outings as he emerged as a key part of Caixinha’s attack. The form of Morelos has been one of the main positives for the Portuguese to take from a mixed start to the campaign for his side. And Barca Bear Stein is pleased to see the forward quickly making a name for himself following his summer switch from HJK Helsinki. He told SportTimes: “It is great for a striker to come into a club and score goals straight away. “It gets the crowd on your side from the off, it gives you lots of confidence and it is very rewarding for you to come into a team and score goals. Your new team-mates find out about you as well. “If a striker has got confidence, he isn’t afraid to try things, he gets his shots away quicker, he takes less touches. “When you don’t have that belief in your game, you take extra touches and that gives a defender a chance to clear his lines. “Confidence has a big part to play. You have got to have ability, obviously, but you need that confidence if you are going to score goals. “If you get the backing of your team-mates, that is half the battle. You have to get the ammunition to score goals so you need them to trust you. “You can be the best striker in the world, but if you don’t get the service you need then you won’t score goals. “You have got to have your team-mates on your side so it is important to prove yourself early on and show what you can do.” Morelos arrived at Ibrox as an unknown quantity after a short stint in Finland but he has wasted little time in showcasing his talents for Rangers. He was denied a goal on his Old Firm debut after a superb stop from Craig Gordon and was then left frustrated against Partick Thistle and Hamilton Accies. But Stein reckons Morelos has already shown enough to suggest there could be plenty more to come from him in his first campaign at Ibrox. He said: “I have been impressed with him. He has got a good work rate and a terrific shot. “He has started well, although he was a bit unfortunate against Celtic. If he had scored that day, that would have been great for him. “But if he gets the chances, I think he will take them more often than not this season. “For any team in the world, if you have a striker that can get 20 or 25 goals, then you are worth your weight in gold. “If you get more than that, brilliant. But if you can get to that 20 or 25 mark then that is a big factor for a team. “Rangers had two great strikers in McCoist and Hateley who didn’t start off and running but they became two of the best forwards that Rangers have had. “If you get off to a good start and get the fans on your side, that means a lot to you. It is important for a foreign guy that is coming in and learning the language. “He can do his talking on the field. There is a language barrier there but if you score goals that speaks for itself.” With eight goals to his credit so far this season, Morelos is well on his way to taking the top scorer bragging rights at Ibrox this term. He will look to add to his tally when Caixinha’s side face St Johnstone on Friday night as Rangers bid for back-to-back wins in the top flight. And Stein hopes the trip to Perth will provide the Light Blues with a platform for a sustained run of Premiership form in the coming weeks. Stein said: “It is a hard place to go and St Johnstone are always a formidable team. But Rangers are a better team than St Johnstone and they have got to go up there and show that. “If they could get four or five wins, that would be great. That kind of run is what they need. “They have got to keep winning games, it is as simple as that. We will see about Aberdeen but Celtic don’t look like they will slip-up. “I am sure Celtic will win most of their games so Rangers need to keep winning if they don’t want that gap to get any bigger.” http://www.eveningtimes.co.uk/sport/15587534.Rangers_legend_Colin_Stein_backs_Alfredo_Morelos_to_kick_on_after_his_impressive_start_to_life_at_Ibrox/?ref=eb
  8. I suppose it's encouraging that no one is appearing to be overly worried that Wallace would appear to be out for sometime. His replacement has obviously made an impression and may even prove to be the man to claim that jersey rather than merely be a temporary replacement.
  9. RANGERS are approaching a clean bill of health on the injury front – and by this time next week, only long-term casualty Lee Wallace should be missing from the squad. https://rangers.co.uk/news/headlines/close-full-strength/
  10. Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha insists his side will be ready for their trip to St Johnstone on Friday after an "intense" week of training. The Portuguese revealed last week that he was using the international break to work on his side's defence. "The whole week was great. We took advantage and worked on a lot of aspects, and worked at a high pace," Caixinha told the club website. "So it was an intense week and we knew it was the moment for us to do that." Rangers went into the international break on the back of a 4-1 win at Hamilton Academical. Caixinha's side, who are level on 14 points with St Johnstone ahead of the sides' Premiership meeting, faced Morton on Saturday in a friendly match split up into three periods rather than two halves. "That is why we played the game with three periods of 35-minutes - giving 35 minutes to the players who have had more game-time and then giving a chance to those who have not played that much, as well as giving a chance to some young boys too," the manager added. "So overall, it was a really good week and we are starting this week on a totally different level as we prepare for the next match. "I think Morton play in a similar way to St Johnstone, with more or less the same philosophy, so it was good to put in practice some of those things." Caixinha went with a teenage back line in the last period against Morton - Andy Dallas, Kyle McLelland, Lewis Mayo and Scott Gray - and was encouraged by what he saw. "So they did very well, and in that period of time, we only conceded the one goal from a direct free-kick," he added. "I liked overall the three groups. They were three different groups, with a different formation in each of the periods. It was also a moment for us to try something and also for us to give minutes to the players who have not being playing." http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/41557604#top-link
  11. Get that defence working more efficiently and we're getting there. Scoring isn't the problem it was last year but defending still is. No one but the unmentionables are scoring as many as we are but 4 have conceded fewer. Glad to know it's being worked on.
  12. No mention of Rossiter. Is he fit to fill in for Jack?
  13. I think it's pretty neutral and the evening times is actually running the exact same headline with in fact the exact same article by the exact same writer. BBC and all the rest are running similar headlines with more or less the same points. The rest don't say Rangers unhappy but I think if I were a sports writer covering this I may make an educated guess that Rangers were unhappy at the trial by TV element which didn't happen to broonaldo for his antics at Hamilton. I think it's fair enough that they mention it even though they don't mention broon by name. Everybody knows who and what they're talking about.
  14. Add Jim Bett to that list. I was born and bred in Hamilton and spent all my life living there till I moved to the US in 2012. Bett was in the same year as me at Earnock High school and he came from Burnbank in Hamilton.
  15. Love the look on the faces of the goalie and defender when the first goal hits the back of the net. They look perplexed as if thinking WTF. This isn't supposed to happen.
  16. Tell him to take his rosary beads with him and see what happens to him.
  17. Everton lost their goal machine. A guy who is currently the top scorer in the league and is a major part of the reason Man U are sitting equal top. Think where Spurs would be if they lost Kane who has 11 goals so far with 6 of them coming in the league while his nearest contender in the team is Dele Alli with 3 in all competitons.
  18. After 8 games last season we had scored 10 goals and conceded 11. This season after 8 games we have scored 17 and again conceded 11. So at this point we have scored 70% more goals than the same stage last season but conceded exactly the same as before and last season 5 of those conceded goals came in a single game against the yahoos on match day 5 . We need to stop leaking goals.
  19. I would rather we play someone more local than traveling thousands of miles through multiple time zones and back.
  20. We're scoring goals now which in itself is an improvement on last season and are currently second highest scoring team in the league. But somewhat like last season we're still losing too many currently equal highest concede level among the top 5. A single factor that could be worked on which could make a huge difference.
  21. Ahead for generations my posterior. I'm supposed to take seriously someone saying they will be ahead of us for decades? What utter drivel.
  22. This was a good result and an example of what the team can do when they get going because Accies are not easy to beat. The majority of their losses are by the odd goal while they also beat hubz 3-1 in Edinburgh. Only one other has handed them such a trouncing with the exact same 4-1 result at their plastic patch and that was the unmentionables. Even after going down to 10 men we still scored again. Any other support in the league would view it as impressive.
  23. That should pretty much kill it off with hopefully one or two more Rangers goals to boost our GD
  24. Accies can be a thorn in the side which is the sole reason they have survived so long in the SPL. They're going to dig in and be under the cosh for the bulk of it. If our front guys can convert the chances they're undoubtedly going to get it could be a run of the mill win.
  25. Is it coincidence that Miller appears to be spitting out the dummy after being dropped last week? As for being dropped to the under 20's judging from recent history that's the end of the road under Pedro.
