Press Release from meeting of Rangers Supporters Clubs
Frankie replied to Bluedell's topic in Rangers Chat
First of all, I'd like to thank Bluedell for attending on behalf of this website and the Nithsdale RSC for going to the time and effort of organising this project. Being on holiday over the last few days myself I've not had a chance to speak with BD yet but I'd fancy the actual content of the meeting may not reflect the statement overly accurately. From experience I know it's not always easy to succinctly describe such events whilst also not giving away strategic plans for the future. Suffice to say then, while I agree the statement wording is less than clear, I'm strongly of the opinion that the event will prove more fruitful going forward. Not just in terms of exploring how we ensure we're not penalised further by what is clearly an already well-rehearsed and practised targeting of our club but indeed, how we expose this sham for what it is. Not to mention ensuring other clubs and supports are treated in the same way. Finally, I don't blame anyone for being somewhat suspicious of motives and who may or may not be involved. However, we can either continue to perpetuate divisions or try to move on irrespective of past differences. I'm confident that the guys involved with the Nithsdale will help avoid personality problems and facilitate a 'neutral' position on any agreed actions. I look forward to finding out more and I respectfully suggest we all show a bit of patience before writing off the kind of united supporter dialogue we've all requested in recent times. It may not be perfect but it's a start.- 29 replies

The problem is somewhat different here in that it was the whole of our hosting that was unavailable so it wasn't possible to publish anything. Annoying when it happens but thankfully due to the technical and financial support of bmck and craig, such problems have been minimal over the last 3 years now. Certainly today was the longest downtime I can remember for a while now.

At least you can say you have different sources to Smelly Spiers, BH... -
There are plenty of such people here as well...

Whyte offer rejected rumour - denied by Johnston
Frankie replied to BrahimHemdani's topic in Rangers Chat
Possibly. For the avoidance of doubt I have no idea how Whyte intends to finance his offer (and overall plans) but as we've said here constantly I doubt the £52million will be an act of philanthropy from a man we know next to nothing about. -

You do see the paradox in that post though? Whose to say their leadership/judgement isn't poor again here? Fact is we just don't know. We're asked in the media to sympathise with one bid or t'other. Meanwhile directors say 'if only you knew what we know' - again in the media! It's a disrespectful shambles and if they are so concerned then I'm hoping to read a full and frank explanation of why this offer has been rejected (if BH's info is true). -

The loans may be secured on the club's assets. -
This forum has its problems as much as any other. Large or small it's always difficult (or impossible?) to moderate sites in a manner that suits everyone. It stands to reason that any community will form alliances/cliques and often it does become difficult to enjoy debates when people often refuse to entertain other points of view just because certain people may write them. I'm confident though that (over ten years down the lines!!!) this forum still provides a valuable contribution to the online community and absolutely believe the quality of debate here is as good (or better) than any other site. By the same token though, I'd always urge every member to at least read other sites because every forum has a number of core posters who provide a great service to aiding out thoughts on a variety of issues - no matter if we agree or not.

Like you, I find it difficult to believe (or possibly more accurately offer an educated opinion) on rumours. While I don't doubt BH's intentions (or indeed his contacts) I'm sure he'll acknowledge that there are people on both sides of the club sale saga that are using people to feed snippets of information which may suit them or may spin the situation in a certain manner at a certain time. While it makes for good debate to discuss such 'leaks' we're doing no more than speculating really which is probably on information that is already out of date. As ever, people should treat such rumours with caution and that applies to everyone who posts such stuff - myself included! -

Yeah, I'm unsure of the formal requirements. However, I'd like to think, that if we can get together a 'petition' of several thousand shareholders and season ticket holders, the club may be morally forced into organising such a meeting. More so if, as Paul Murray infers, he wants us to detail our concerns. -
Weiss should be a bit cleverer when using such sites as he knows he'll attract such negative attention (and press). However, there's a difference between a misguided attempt at banter and receiving disgusting abuse. As for other forums, please contact the admin there as we can't answer questions on their disciplinary actions.

Absolutely. I've written several articles suggesting it's impossible to judge his intentions. I'm unsure whether or not he could attend such an EGM but if he wants to buy our shares why couldn't he address us to explain why? -

Been on holiday for the last few days so unable to contribute as much as I'd have liked to this until now. With the ownership issue no clearer and, while it may be a futile gesture, I'd like the support to explore putting together an 'EGM' petition with as many shareholders and season ticket holders as possible calling for such a meeting and an extension to the season ticket renewal deadline (which is late next week). I, for one, am sick of our club's future being played out via sources and asked to read between the lines in the media. It's well beyond time that our support are treated with the respect our annual investment deserves instead of with the disdain we're usually afforded. Where better than an official shareholder meeting where the vetting committee can tell us exactly what the problems are while also giving us an opportunity to ask questions. Then we can make up our own minds. -
Apologies guys - unfortunately our host had to perform some essential maintenance on our databases which meant both the site and forum were down for a few hours today. As always with these types of thing, we can't give a pre-warning and/or a time-scale for the fix. Please keep an eye on Twitter/Facebook accounts and bookmark our back-up forum for future problems.

See my 'wringer' article of yesterday. Like you, I'm sceptical as to where money can be made but some will argue club is being bought relatively cheaply and with a reasonable amount of investment into its infrastructure it could be sold quickly (3-5 years) at a decent profit - much like McCann did at Celtic. That may or may not be true but I'd still ask who will want to buy the club when Whyte wants to sell. They're not queuing up now at a cheap price.
-
I'd say there's next to no chance we'll sign Iaquinta - takeover or not. If the takeover does happen then we'll have to watch all and sundry being linked to us before the end of August.

My satire detection meter has just exploded...
-
Ellis doesn't have to provide anything up front apparently. Obviously Whyte is confident that whatever plans they have in the pipeline will make them both a lot of money given we're talking at least £7million here.
-
Those are the purchase price monies. This is working capital - i.e. the money needed to find the club from Day 1 of new ownership.
-
Some info I've been given today: Am told 'working capital' required from new owner is not in place to enable deal to go through as yet. Proof of said 'working capital' has apparently been provided but monies still not lodged for Day 1. As ever, this information is posted in good faith so please ruminate over it in the spirit intended.

I'm not sure about that. If you look at our PLUS page, past news announcements have been made at a range of times throughout the day.
-
Apparently the translation is wrong and we're only interested in Iaquinta.
-
I have no more information than anyone else mate. Which is why I'm the one asking the questions in the original post...

We had a late goal ruled out for offside. Unlucky lads!
