Bump for the thread for tonight's match... Apparently :wilson: :jf: and will all start.

As with every site that has a lot of members, naturally the % of mundane posts (or posters) increases as well. Hopefully, that can't be said about Gersnet as, while we remain reasonably small, the quality of debate is retained. In general people shouldn't take forums/sites so seriously even if they can have an important affect on the Rangers support at large. But we're all guilty of that so should be prepared to laugh at ourselves from time to time.

It does a wee bit actually... Most important thing for me was the release of the share capital last night. Somebody is definitely trying to do something here - be it the club to flush out buyers or be it the bank trying to end their commitment.

I remember SDM saying as much at a meeting once... Perhaps your version is more accurate... -
I said he wouldn't be replaced yesterday and I still believe he won't be going anywhere in the short-term. I don't think it's a huge leap to say he'll be replaced if a new owner comes on but that is far from certain at this stage.

Good news - we're particularly stretched in midfield at the moment...

Rangers own Albion car park again IIRC so that should remain the case. Rangers own Auchenhowie so that should remain the case unless MIH/Lloyds see the sale of that land as one way to realise money for sale/debt recovery. MIH own Edmiston House and some of the landbank around Ibrox - doubt that would change, unless a cheap price can be negotiated - unlikely given club have no money. Merchandising is outsourced to JJB/Umbro so I doubt that will be affected in the short term - although Umbro and Carling deals run out in the summer. Catering is outsourced to Elior so can't see any changes there either depending on the contract. Slightly different for ticketing which is outsourced to RHL (and MIH company). -

I'm not so sure how close the wolf is... I feel the smoke and mirrors over the last few days have been in evidence and the usual magician isn't even there. -

Agreed - unfortunately, I doubt this will happen so quickly... -
Few problems with the server - I'm sure it will be back online soon...

The guy's info on RM seemed credible enough apparently but I wouldn't put too much stock in what he said personally - essentially he reckoned the new owner will be announced today by noon... -
Rangers Football Club are a Scottish institution just like RBS and HBOS were when they had financial problems recently. I'd have been more surprised if the minister in question hadn't got involved - party politics or not.

Agreed but I still don't think they'd go down this route unless a deal was imminent. -
Don't worry mate - we're very happy with progress right now and if the club is sold this week we can claim it as a victory....

I don't think the club would do this unless they had a buyer - or buyers lined up. -
Fair enough but what. I am saying is that you need to show people what you are prepared to do before they buy into the organisation. You have not done that in that statement IMO. Will be online later to expand further as only on phone right now.

Of course using the club problems as a means to recruit is an opportunity too good to miss for a Trust. I wouldn't criticise you for that. Unfortunately, people need something to attract them more than that convoluted statement. GerSave is a wholly worthy initiative (and under-subscribed unfortunately) but that alone won't bring in new members who want to future of the club safe-guarded. What people will subscribe to is leadership during hard times...

I think the statement is somewhat more convoluted than it needed to be but you'll never get broad agreement on what should and should be included in such stuff. I'm sure most bears want the RST to form part of any dialogue between supporters and other parties but I'm equally sure they'd want to Trust to be clear in what it wants to achieve from this. I don't think they have made it clear what they want unfortunately... 1. Are they being critical of the club or not? 2. Where is the call for transparency? 3. How do they plan to achieve this collaboration? Are they being pro-active on that front? 4. What kind of strategy do they see arising from such collaborations? I'm genuinely not trying to be negative about supporters trying to be positive but I'm at a loss in how to interpret the statement as anything other than confusing....
