  1. Looks like it is time to get behind Stevie G. The Sun are running with it now. Untested maybe, but so was Zinedine Zidane & he’s on course to win 3 Champions Leagues in a row. World class players don’t need to work their way up through the leagues. Huge gamble, but will at least sicken the tims. I just hope he doesn’t fall on his arse with 4 games to go..
  2. Neil Warnock is far and away the best manager mentioned so far, he has got results everywhere he has gone. And he has gone to a lot of clubs. Can’t see him ditching Cardiff though, but he never sticks around anywhere long though. Would certainly give Rogers something to think about next season.
  3. I can actually see us going for Gerrard. The fans want a big name coach. Steven Gerrard is a big name. He would sell season tickets. An experienced coach wouldn’t work under a DoF, but Gerrard might as he is learning his trade. He has been at Ibrox at least twice this season & now Dave King is at Anfield. A guy who only visits the UK 4 times a year. They know each other. Now consider that our boards approach to recruiting a manager seems to be a case of waiting to see who applies. If Steven Gerrard’s CV drops through the letter box, you would notice. I reckon it is likely he is at least on the short list, and King is down there to speak to him.
  4. Steven Gerrard now odds-on with sky bet. I know this means nothing, but anybody know where they’re getting his name from??
  5. Not to mention Jack, Docherty, Windass, Pena, Rossiter.. plenty of numbers, but not enough quality in that position..
  6. The top target for Rangers & Mark Allen this summer should be John McGinn from Hibs. He is the box to box midfielder we have needed since Barry Ferguson. He can tackle, has great vision and scores goals. We could build our team around him for the next 10 years. I know people say he wouldn’t sign for us, but 11 years ago they said that Scott Brown would never sign for Celtic as he was a ‘die-hard Gers fan’ Well money talks, Celtic offered him more cash & he has been their main man ever since. Lennon has already stated that £5million would get McGinn. Let’s test Celtics resolve. They might not fancy spending that much, Rogers might not rate him that highly. We need him more! If Celtic get him then they get him, but at least we’ll have tried. I reckon we have a decent squad of players now, but lack a spine & McGinn would give us that. Him and 2 decent defenders would have us challenging Celtic next season. We no longer need quantity, we need a few top quality players this summer & McGinn should be top of our list!

    A must win

No more must win than any other game v Celtic. I honestly couldn’t care about them winning the league now, because it can’t get any worse than last week. Even if we lose we would guarantee second if we win the last 3 games, so anything we take on Sunday would be a bonus for me.
  8. I would be all for this. However I think it is wildly optimistic to think 20,000 would use it on a match day. Indeed, it would be a nightmare getting the train if they did. I was at a Spurs game this year at Wembley, and the queue for the train station after full time was frightening, felt like being a sitting duck for about an hour. However if a slum like Royston can get a station then Ibrox certainly should..
  9. Too much snobbery from Rangers fans I’m afraid. Like the board, a lot seem to be waiting for Mourinho or Guardiola to send in his CV. The reality is we were knocked back by Derek McInnes, though I wouldn’t be shocked if we went back in for him. The board have had 9 months to replace Caixinha and haven’t delivered. We now have 8 weeks before the 2018/19 season starts. Time to get real. Alex Neil, Robbie Nielson & Steve Clark are all a big step up from Murty & Caixinha. Only one of them is a Rangers man, but I’d be happy with any of them. All are proven in Scotland & England. If they can sort our home form, then we will be challenging for the league next season.
  10. Forget what those puppets on Follow Follow say - any Rangers fan who thinks that Douglas Park & the board are capable of finding a manager in 2 months, when they have left Murty floundering there for almost a year already, is kidding themselves on. Would’ve been announced by now!
  11. Why didn’t we offer any of them the job then? The only ones I recall who publicly said they were interested were Billy Davies and Big Eck. Neither had much clamour for their appointment on here, as I recall..
  12. Steve Clarke is the best realistic option, though after this weekend I wouldn’t be shocked if McInnes or even Walter Smith came back into contention. Apart from those 2 there are no Rangers minded candidates. Yet I couldn’t help but think today that no Presbyterian manager would have sent a Rangers team out with so little fight in them for a game against Celtic..

    Moving forward

Morelos chucked it after about 5 minutes today. The problem isn’t Murtys system, it’s the fact he doesn’t know how to change it. Alves & Miller should’ve started instead of Dorrans & Halliday, with McCrorie in midfield. Alves gets stick but he is far better than Martin, while McCrorie is more a DM than a CB for me. The players weren’t motivated either, but I actually think the 4-5-1 worked well against them at Ibrox. It was just poor defending & finishing cost us the 3 points.
  14. How is that hard to believe? Rodgers has unfinished business down there & his massive ego would mean he’d take the job in an instant. He has worked at Chelsea before & Conte will surely be our the door this summer. I guess you’re saying Chelsea wouldn’t want Rodgers, but he is a world class manager in my opinion. They could do a lot worse, but sadly I think that is Rangers best hope at the minute. Things can change quickly in football..
  15. No coaching academy in Scotland? Have you never heard of Largs, where Mourinho learned his trade & first met Steve Clarke? We need to be realistic here. Mark Allen is the main man, & seems to be slowly building a good squad, but only a low profile coach would work under him. We are not going to appoint a big name, even if we could afford to, the only realistic option I’ve seen on this thread is Clarke & even he might knock us back. i suspect it will be Murty who guides us into Europa League qualifiers (if we finish 2/3rd) as the statement from Dave King was deliberately vague. We won’t win the league until either Rodgers leaves (to Chelsea this summer?) or some billionaire sheik comes in like at Man City, so we just have to be content with gradual progress. We are a better team than last season, so add half a dozen first team players & we should be well clear of Aberdeen & Hibs next season. Unless we gamble & bring in a new manager who is probably going to be worse than Murty!
  16. The last thing we need is another rookie foreign coach coming in, ffs! I’d rather have Murty. The last few years we have consistently replaced poor managers with even worse ones. This is because these days, any Rangers manager is on a hiding to nothing, expected to qualify for the Champions League with f-all money. Nobody better than Murty is coming. You could argue we are in no better a place than if we had kept Super Ally as boss, so we should be careful what we wish for. As long as he gets us into Europe, Murty will take charge during the qualifiers. I am also quite confident Mark Allen will further improve the squad during the summer. Why bring in a new boss who will want to sign his own players??

    The Split

Must be the first time we (or any team) have played the entire top 6 at home twice - Aberdeen, Celtic, Hearts, Hibs & Killie. Can’t play them all away after the split. It should have gave us an advantage, but Aberdeen are the only ones we beat at Ibrox - while Celtic & Killie are the only one we didn't beat away. Must be cos St Johnstone & Thistle were expected to be top 6. We will probably play Killie & Hibs at Ibrox 3 Times. Hibs can hardly complain having beat us twice there already!
  18. I saw photos of this banner before and did wonder. Park head is nowhere near the Clyde. I walk past all those landmarks on the way to the town from Ibrox, so it definitely is our stadium. Probably another Fock up that they will now be claiming was somehow deliberate
  19. He has all the attributes to become a world-class player. He would fit right in to a team like Barcelona or Man City, where he wouldn’t have to do any defending. However, he is never a defender. It’s like when Spurs used to play Gareth Bale at left-back. What were they thinking??
  20. I’m not advocating Ashley in any way. I appreciate that King & Co have put money in to the club, whereas Ashley takes money out. However their funds are not unlimited. This is not a step forward, maybe one back before we can take 2 steps forward. Most clubs do not have second mortgages over their property. Maybe a sign of the times, as banks no longer lend football clubs unsecured loans the way they once did. I’m just pointing out though that this move by the current board is something that no previous regime did, as far as I know, although it was mooted by some but would have been considered highly controversial if they had went through with it. Probably a wise move by the current board, but not by any means cause for celebration.
  21. Almost three years to the day since Mike Ashley tried to do the exact same thing, the board have applied to take out mortgages over Edmonton House and the Albion car park. Back then there were riots outside the stadium when we played Hearts, but not this time. Can anyone explain to me how it’s different this time? The statement from the club was certainly well timed, stifling panic before the story came into the public domain. But it’s not really true - a secured lending facility is not the same as an overdraft; other clubs do not have their assets used as a guarantee against their debts; and you do not grant a security just so you can “dip in and out” of debt, you would only provide a standard security if you are getting cash up front. Why was it worse when Ashley did it? Also, how does it make sense to knock back a £8million offer for a player we’ve already replaced, if we need this cash?? Fair play to Jim Traynor though, he pre-empted any protests with a well timed statement this week. Anybody who doubts his value to the club should consider how well he has sold this to the fans. However for me, this news is no cause for celebration at all.
  22. He did have to go about in an armoured tank, but it was after his appearance in A Shot at Glory, where he played a Rangers player and Ally McCoist played a Celt!
  23. Also won the ‘championship’ with them & had them beating Bayern Munich in the UEFA Cup in Germany. At half time.. he must be a fair age now though!
