  1. Presumably Mark Allen is behind this signing ‘spree.’ Time will tell, but it all looks a bit McParland-esque to me. Indeed wasn’t he “sporting director” at QPR..?
  2. Many ex-players like to tell tales of their time in the game, which grow arms and legs over the years. In Agatha’s case, his tale seems to have grown into a full length episode of the A-team..
  3. Jimmy Nicholl actually has a great record as a number 2 at Aberdeen & NI, which is why he has got the job. Nothing to do with how many verses of the sash he knows. Older posters might recall he had a decent record as number 1 at Raith Rovers as well..
  4. Shouldn’t forget the impact of his 1st season though & the quality players he signed that summer. He was a better manager than McCoist or Caixinha. Unfortunately he keeps letting that knob McParland follow him around. He seems a very dodgy character!
  5. Stopped reading that after the first line. Big money signing?? Wasn’t he a free transfer??
  6. I suppose the honeymoon is over for Murty now, then. In truth the club should have appointed him as soon as McIness knocked us back the first time. Yes he has impressed in the big games, but failed against Dundee twice, Hamilton, Inverness and St Johnstone. However he has more points than any other SPFL boss over the last 5 matches, & it wasn’t an easy run. Hopefully the players will try harder now they know he is boss, especially the foreign ones. Or else they can go in the January sales. The important thing is that we bring in quality in several positions. Mark Allen hopefully has players in mind. We don’t need a world class manager to finish ahead of Aberdeen, & the DoF/coach system has worked before at Hearts. Interim managers have also done well for Chelsea, and also many legendary bosses started as interims. Including a certain Walter Smith. Remember he nearly blew the title by losing 3-0 to Motherwell in his third game in charge?? Didn’t do too badly after that, as I recall..
  7. I am stunned. Unfinished business with Aberdeen?? He can’t honestly think he is ever going to win the title with them, can he?? Bizarre. This is embarrassing, but think how much worse it would’ve been if they had beat us twice & been 12 points ahead of us. Derek McInnes’s stock will never be higher, but no bigger club than Rangers are ever going to come in for him. He has just knocked back the highest wage packet he’s ever going to get offered. Unbelievable! Our board & CEO are incompetent, but must make Murty permanent now. See if he can get 2nd. If he does, he’s saved us a million quid. If not, we’ve got a full season to line up a new manager. Tell you what though, I bet Stewart Milne isn’t as pleased as he makes out about this. That £1million could’ve paid for their new training ground, and they will probably end up having to sack McIness eventually anyway!!
  8. Honestly think the guy has bottled it. First Sunderland now Rangers. He is nicely tucked up in his comfort blanket at Aberdeen & has no ambitions for anything else! Unless he fancies the Scotland job..
  9. £32,000?? Not exactly a windfall for them. Shame on Sky for doing Fraserburgh out of money, but they will be desperately hoping we get knocked out so they can show it live. I only hope we have a manager by then, and I’m not being sarcastic!
  10. Interesting point some are making that Aberdeen finished 2nd in a league without Hearts, Hibs & Dundee Utd as well as us. But there is another way of looking at it. Hearts, Hibs & United had similar budgets to Aberdeen & got relegated because of crap managers. The same thing could have happened to Aberdeen, but instead McInnes guided them to second. It was not a foregone conclusion. Now I had hoped we would’ve made an official move today but it seems we’re still waiting. So maybe everybody is barking up the wrong tree anyway. Wouldn’t be the first time..
  11. Jock Wallace was a Keeper. So was Tommy Wright, come to think of it..
  12. McInnes is down to 1/3 again with sky bet. He was 1/2 at 9.00 when I left work, so someone must be reading this thread lol
  13. We’re not aiming to win the league this season. According to Dougie Wright on Twitter, our average wage is 6000 a week, compared to 14000 a week at Celtic. Unless that changes, no manager could ever win the league with us. However Aberdeen’s average wage is only 2000 a week apparently, yet they could be 12 points clear of us by the end of the week. Our target is to win the league by 2021. Finishing above Aberdeen & Hibs would be the next step on the journey, & McInnes is exactly the right manager for this step.
  14. Alves is effectively throwing a sickie, not for the first time in his Ibrox career, and it seems his teammates aren’t buying it. Happens in every workplace. Personally I have been disappointed in him, I thought he’d have been more like an Amoruso or Bougherra type (carrying the ball forwards when there is nobody to pass to due to opponents packing their defence) but he refuses to cross the halfway line. It certainly isn’t an interim managers job to call him out though, any new manager would want him in his squad. McCrorie is as hard as nails, but he needs a spell out of the team after Saturdays mistake, so if Alves decides he is fit then I’d bring him back.
  15. I might put a few quid on Postecoglou. I feel like I have saw this movie before. Hopefully it turns out better this time around. At least this guy must speak decent English & his record with Australia seems genuinely impressive. Better than Caixinha’s record, but it’s hard to compare international football to club management.
  16. That guy has obvious mental health issues & am surprised anybody is taking anything he says seriously. I severely doubt there is going to be any book!
  17. Feyenoord are already out of Europe, and unlikely to get back in to the Champions League any time soon. If Celtic can attract Brendan Rogers to the SPFL, then we should be going after a top class boss as well.
  18. Sky would rather have the game at Fraserburgh. If they choose to show it (and they have shown every Rangers SC game since 2012) then it won’t be at Pittodrie. 3,000 capacity must be the biggest in the Highland League as well. Last year we played Dumbarton at their ground, which only holds 1500!
  19. Getting back to the original post, what a waste that the fight against organised crime is being held back due to some snowflake Celtic supporter getting their feelings hurt. You would think a pretty thick skin would be essential in this line of work, but not nowadays it seems. Police (senior management at least) are more interested in “domestic abuse” and “hate crime” than dealing with the tide of violent crime and drugs on the streets. The Russian mafia can sleep easy tonight, people trafficking is less of a priority at Police Scotland than someone hearing a poor-taste joke on their birthday.
  20. Interested in van Bronckhurst’s statement. I don’t know how it is in Holland, but in the English league, Feyenoord's current form would get him the sack, regardless of injuries & the fact he won the title last season (see Ranieri for example). So it would be a good time for him to leave, & Feyenoord might accept a cut-price offer to avoid possibly having to pay him off. Clearly the best option for Rangers, and a realistic one who would be worth pursuing.
  21. Candelas is exactly the sort of player we should be signing. Maybe not world class, but a stand out in the SPFL. The type of player Aberdeen & Hibs could never afford. Reminds me a bit of Pieter Huistra, but on the other side. Him & Tavernier are the best right wing partnership in the league. That’s probably the only position where we are currently better than any other team, however his signing was a step in the right direction by Caixinha.

    Gazza

Watched that last night. Outstanding! Never realised how much personal tragedy had affected him before tbh. Still not quite as good as the original C4 Cutting Edge doc ‘Gazzas Coming Home’ which focussed on the 95/96 season. Well worth a watch if you can find it!
  23. Jeezo. Time for King to show some badly needed leadership. Park & co need to understand this isn’t like appointing the manager of a bus depot, this is the managers position at Rangers we’re talking about & the chairman should always have someone in mind to replace the boss at any time. Clearly in this situation we should appoint Murty till the end of the season. Maybe they’re waiting for McInnes to resign & somehow negotiate a smaller fee for his contract, but there is no indication that this is McInnes’s thinking. But world class managers do not send their CVs to prospective new clubs, indeed they usually aren’t out of a job that long!
  24. Hasty appointment? It took the board 6 weeks to appoint Pedro. Seriously, how long is it going to take this time??
  25. Sorry but there is no excuse for this delay. Clubs normally appoint a manager within a week of sacking the previous one. However it seems that our board prefer to scour the globe hoping they’ll discover the new Mourinho on the cheap. It ain’t gonna happen & it will cost us more money in the long run, if we have to pay off a boss every 6 months.
