you are jinxing us the lot of you.... aaah.. no..... what have you all done? what have you all done? damn you all to hellllll damn you all to hellllll..... gersnet, home of rational discourse on all things rangers for ten years

Lets keep timmy aspersions to PM etc. If wabash were a Celtic supporter this would be the mst pathetic and fruitless endeavour ever - going to all those lengths to fake an interest in rangers to "wind up" the most moderate and least easily wound up fans online would be actions tantamount to genuine mental instability. It may seem weird that you couldnt put a bit of paper between MF and wabashs bleak outlook, though it seems to cause pain in MF and delight in wabash, but i reckon he just really likes being right Lets keep on topic!

Its nothing to do with coping when your team has a bad result. This team had the chance to do something otherworldly spectacular this season, and last night that disappeared. If we manage the double its going to be probability defying super season for us, and I am going to be fooking delighted; but to just cest la vie an opportunity to write ourselves into the history books is just too carefree for me. Im not going to lay into the team, or say its an abberation; im just going to be quietly disappointed.

Its nothing to do with realism - the difference between you and me is I dont delight in the poor aspects of our situation.

So you are trying to prove trebles are not rare by saying we got three in one of our strongest ever decades and no English team has even that many in the entire history of the game? Excellent work; Im convinced. They are commonplace.

Why? We are talking about football.

Why does it seem, with every negative comment you make about the club and our situation, you are celebrating the negativity?

Man, don't interfere with my superstitious pessimism. If I don't say it aloud, the universe won't try to spite me, and we wont win the league.
-
Anyone else not confident? I've not seen us win a game convincingly in a while, and we've struggled against everyone we've played against. If Celtic were even remotely resembling a football team at the minute I'd be quite nervous.

Mowbray has left: Lennon as Caretaker 'Til End of Season
bmck replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
I think, given the players he's brought in, and the amount invested, and the post-loan-players-going-home sparcity, it's going to be interesting mantle to take up. -
Domestic trebles are so rare, Im thoroughly gutted by that.

I wuld pull someone up for saying what I am about to, because it runs against available statements, but I get the impression if WS wanted Boyd to stay as unreservedly as we do there would be no Alex McLeish interest and no doubt in Boyds mind.

Interesting you don't think he's been a good signing. It's a hard one to get a fix on because we can never know who would could have got instead of him, so it's impossible to make a like for like comparison. He's produced more than Novo this season, significantly more than Lafferty - but, then, he cost more than Novo, and less than Lafferty. It's hard to say. I must've missed the accolades - I think, in this thread at least, every positive comment about Miller was reasonably qualifed, even the OP. :D I think it's a natural outpouring, to some extent - but you're right, one good game does not a great player make. I think part of the reason KM is getting this treatment at is purely because of the contrast. We were all so, so, so dismayed in every sense about the KM signing that he hasn't been an absolute disaster makes the contrast seem so great, and may lead to hyperbole.

Again, good signing isn't the same thing as good player. It's not gushing with admiration to call someone a good signing, because it doesn't even imply you admire them overly as a player - just the job they've done in the team they are in. As I said above, KM is a hard player to like because of his distinct inability to do the basics, but nonetheless he's been a good signing.

My criteria are fairly simple: scores important goals for the team he plays in, contributes to the team he plays in and his cost relative to the team he plays in. Do I think he is a great football player? Obviously not. But there isnt a great football player in our team. You seem to equate great football player with great signing - which is convenient if you dont like him, and want to argue against something easy, but not what was said at all. He is a workman like player who has proved to be a very good signing for us. His goals against Celtic and that one at the weekend make his fee worth it. Could we have won without him? probably, but if my aunty had baws she would be my uncle. He was bought, he has scored important goals - he has been a good signing.

Its not gushing with admiration to say he has been a good signing wh has scored important goals.

I have always been a big Naismith fan; even when there hasnt been a lot of reasn to be. I think the guy has genuine talent. The problem is, its not the beat-three-men-and-stick-it-in-the-top-corner talent that will impose itself immediately. I think he would need a run of ten games or something, in his favoured position, to start really seeing him at his best, and its hard to imagine how he is going to get that. I think a lot of players are like this - he wouldnt goto a mid level team and stand out, but in a good team he would be excellent, but because he may not get the chance he may be one of those never-realised-his-potential players, and its sad. Thankfully WS is loyal to his signings, and there may be an extended run for him yet.

Well done for turning a I-was-right-at-the-start story into a I-was-right-nearly-at-the-start story, but I cant disagree. Good post. Miller is a frustrating player who it is hard to really, really like - but he has done it enough when its counted now for WS to be proved thoroughly right in signing him.

It was just recent on newsnow, but it may very well have been. There was no date on the article.

Selection of quotes for possible tangents of discussion: - Jeff Winters - Maurice Edu - Amoruso - Wilson - Naismith - Walter Smith and finally.... - Keane

Mind the day he died. Was in Primary school. I had watched his video like a million times and cried like a child. I tried to convince myself for over a year I was left footed so I could be like Davie Cooper.
-
We could get them to play at the Gersnet 10 year party!

I must admit to being in the "hes been terrible but dnt take off our one chance for a goal" category. My substitutions are always impeccable on manager games too. Miller, btw, must be the ultimate anti-confidence player - any normal person after that shockign contribution and those bizarre attempts on goal would have concluded it wasnt their day.

It may just be me, but if we are applying "the letter of the law" argument to justify the red card, did no-one else notice that it was the st midden player who was the first to have his arm outstretched? i think he touched (ooh err) wilson before wilson pulled him; would need to see it again.
