    Next Season

I also think it’s important not to get carried away in our disappointment. We clearly have problems at the moment but as far as I can see, nothing that’s beyond fixing.

    Next Season

Over half a century supporting Rangers I’ve heard the same response to every setback and period of adversity- sell that player, fire that manager, sack that board. I heard it when we were winning trophies and I hear it now. In truth it’s almost never the right answer. I’m happy to go against the grain and say what we need now is unity and calm decision making …. It may not be enough to win the league next season but it will certainly achieve more than division, discontent and knee-jerk reactions.
  3. You know that's not going to happen. The real question is where will we be after another full season of GioBall?
  4. If we’re honest, that result reflects perfectly the performance of the two clubs on the day and overall since New Year. It’s stretching the imagination to see this Rangers team as a title winning outfit. What’s much more worrying than losing one league championship is the gulf that could open up next season with the financial resources that will be available to Celtic. Last season seems a very long time ago.

  6. That was so well deserved. What a season he had.
  7. I can't really claim to "enjoy" these games against Celtic. Unless we establish a comfortable lead during the game, it will be the usual nerve-shredding ordeal and, as always, the aftermath will be either agony or ecstasy. That said, I think we should win this one.
  8. Does anyone know if Jacko came through the game on Tuesday unscathed?
  9. I'm feeling it already! Let's hope some lessons have been learned all round and we can all move on. I just hope there's some contrition at Rangers and not resentment towards the supporters who objected.
  10. Something like that. Bloody horrendous rip off really.
  11. No quite as bad as the original Rangers share issue. Although I've done my best to wipe that from my memory.
  12. It's amazing this boardroom waif is able to find his office every day, being such a helpless stranger in these parts. I suspect he's a bigger boy than you think he is and his failing is less a lack of understanding, as such, and more a determination to defy it. This friendly contract is his decision and his responsibility but it will be someone else's decision to either back him or undermine him. As time passes it looks increasingly likely that Bisgrove will be taking us to Sydney.
  13. With respect, that's an irrelevance. The reason this friendly in Australia is an issue at all is because a great many supporters think it is and they expressed a hugely negative reaction long before anyone floated to idea of different earnings.
  14. The fact is you have no idea who did or didn't inform Bisgrove of likely fan reaction, so why say so? And it's not a case of absolving everyone else, it's a matter of Bisgrove shouldering the responsibilities inherent in his role as director. You seem determined to pass the buck upwards but in this matter Bisgrove IS the top. Or do you think we have directors who have to get approval for their actions? Where I will agree is that, with Bisgrove having committed the clusterfûck, more senior directors should immediately have taken control and sorted this out one way or another. You need to distinguish between creating the problem and dealing with it afterwards. Utter tosh.
  15. A few weeks ago I posted wholehearted praise for James Bisgrove and the work he was doing. But, please, don't insult each other's intelligence with posts trying to portray him as some kind of innocent functionary, a mere bystander in this debacle. Bisgrove is a director and, as such, is fully responsible for his own actions. It's clear to me that this friendly in Sydney was the work of Bisgrove, in pursuit of his agreed objectives, and that we are where we are because he failed to inform himself of the reaction of the support and has now dug his heels in so deeply that it's him or the game. It doesn't matter what others in the organisation should or could have done. Even in this age of self-serving snakery, this is the nature of accountability and the price of seniority. This is clearly Bisgrove's responsibility and his mess either to sort out of accept the consequences for. One thing is for sure, we are going to see what this particular director is made of.
  16. Mostly OK but Club1872 doesn't represent the supporters, it represents a small number of fans who choose to invest in Rangers shares. To that extent, this article is simply perpetuating a foolish lie. Club1872 could have been a general supporters' organisation but couldn't bring itself to conduct its affairs in a way that would have been acceptable to the majority of supporters. I've long wanted universal representation, a voice for all supporters, but we've never been able to set personal differences aside long enough to come close to this. The same old faces refuse to leave the stage.
  17. I get the distinct feeling that participation or otherwise in the Sydney Shame will be determined by the state of infighting at Rangers rather than any concerns expressed by supporters who are expected to open their wallets.
  18. It's been a colossal disappointment to see our directors tarnishing this special year. Talk about shooting ourselves in the foot. And still no semblance of a withdrawal or an apology.
  19. Surely for that to happen would require a Sturgeonesque level of incompetence.
  20. I can't accept this. The difference between a director and an ordinary employee is the former is expected to consider all aspects of important decisions and exercise sound judgement accordingly. Not only is Bisgrove a director but his reaction to criticism has been disrespectful, dismissive and arrogant. This isn't a handful of malcontents in a small corner of the Rangers support. As far as I can see, this is the clear opinion and settled reaction of the wider support as a whole. I can understand someone making a mistake, we all do it, but to then disregard such consensus is unacceptable.
  21. Agreed. This isn't about fees, penalties or any other financial consideration. Supporter anger is about the identity of the opposition and the profound lack of understanding by James Bisgrove that this would be an unacceptable arrangement whatever the income from it. I get more disappointed and more angry about this with every day that passes. In the face of board intransigence, I hope that protests will move on to a new and more robust level.
  22. This is the club we should have been playing. https://www.hsv.de/en/hsv-congratulates-rangers-on-150th-birthday
