  1. It's on Rangers TV.
  2. I have an inkling that this summer will see more than a little rebuilding, with several regulars moving on. Recruitment, as ever, will determine where we go from here but it might be a big ask to expect Rangers to make a seamless transition into next season.
  3. You bring back distant memories of being captivated by world cup finals, the exotic mystery of fabled countries like Uruguay, Brazil and Argentina. Players you'd never heard of became heroes overnight. It was like opening a window on the world but without the bad taste of politics, poverty, etc. I remember falling in love with the game in 1970, it was like being introduced to champagne. Where did all that go eh? Now these tournaments are like watching the Champions League - same players, same football, different shirts. I haven't watched a CL game in years and the magic of international football died in the money pit long ago.
  4. I wouldn’t even notice
  5. I hope Ryan Jack isn't going to be another Andy Murray, unable to shake off a persistent injury and seeing his career coming to a premature end.
  6. I may be the only one but these too-frequent interruptions in the league season to play international games are frustrating and objectionable. The only point of them seems to be generating income for the SFA, UEFA and FIFA gravy-trains and since there has been no advancement of the sport in Scotland for at least half a century you have to question the sense of it all. Personally, I wouldn't miss them if they stopped tomorrow. Discuss.
  7. Why is this Celtic grunt still here
  8. When you look at the dominated title campaigns throughout Europe these last 20 years, many involving 20 clubs, you wonder if a 20-club league would be any worse here. I suspect the general standard of players, teams, pitches, referees, etc. would be little changed whatever format we used, as long as the game continues to be overseen by cretins, placemen and small-time chisellers.
  9. Glad to see this
  10. I'm not in the least interested in going unbeaten in the league season - good if we do but less important than finding out whether certain fringe players want to claim a place or need to be moved on because we will need space to improve this squad. The Scottish Cup is serious business, otherwise we should and will be focussing on next year.
  11. Seems daft to have 3 games in 38 days, (4th Apr - 11th May) then 2 games in 4 days (12th May - 15th May) Unless of course there are Scottish Cup games to be shoe-horned in there somewhere.
  12. Few made much contribution to winning this game but some made a significant contribution to not losing it. McGregor for sure but his role is always on that side of the balance sheet anyway. For me, not losing was the achievement of a generally substandard performance and I feel the principle contributor was actually Filip Helander, without whom the game would almost certainly have been lost by half time. He wasn't spectacular but he was efficient in the right places when it mattered.
  13. I think SG will be glad to get that one out of the way. Very poor performance from Rangers, particularly midfield where only Davis turned up. Puzzling.
  14. This has to be the most insipid midfield display all season.
  15. It’s a tough ask for Balogun and he’s trying hard but the reality is we’re wide open at RB and I’m sure SG will make a change now.
  16. We’re a defensive shambles on the right. Thank God for Alfie!!!!!!
  17. If Paterson can stand they need to get him on the park before this is beyond reach.
  18. Everyone should try to go once (except @Whosthedadoobviously) if only to see what a squalid dump they play in. I have SUCH good memories of them sitting helpless as 7000 bears roared out the famine song continuously for 20 minutes. That song really got under their thick skin.
  19. Rangers 3 Celtic 1 FGS Morelos
  20. I'm hopeful for a much more committed performance on Sunday, regardless of who plays in what position. I also think this will be when Alfie breaks his duck against the most odious club in football. Let's go.
  21. Sensible business but we really need to be starting next season with his replacement in the starting line up
  22. I think we can only focus on our own house and what happens in it.
  23. In this country I think real racism only lurks in a few remaining dark corners. Compared to when I was young there are very few determined racists around and most who are so inclined tend to keep it to themselves because they now know they will be heavily criticised, or worse. The big exception, as you rightly identify, is social media, which acts like an amplifier for bigots while suppressing serious debate. But that too will get sorted out in due course. I honestly think we're further along the road on this than many think, which is why there's such profound distaste at the Kamara abuse. Let's be honest, Rangers is a club whose support has been adept at issuing abuse. I see and hear much less of it now. Like general society, we ourselves have come a long way in that respect and it would be a shame not to acknowledge it and wring our hands in the emotion of the moment.
  24. That’s about as far from the truth as it’s possible to be.
  25. If the abuse of Glen Kamara and Kemar Roofe shows anything, it's the pointlessness of pretending that a kneeling gesture will somehow buffer black players from racial abuse, or that those who perform the ritual will never abuse others. The problem isn't caused by not taking a knee, any more than it's solved by kneeling. The problem is a serious one but entirely disengaged from BLM-inspired rituals. There's a danger that knee-taking and other social signalling only provides a shield of false virtue for actual racists to hide behind. Kneel or don't kneel but don't pretend it has any positive effect on those who perpetrated racism before kneeling started and, the evidence shows, will certainly not now be dissuaded by the ritual of footballers taking a knee
