  1. I don't know about the rest of you but my heart sinks when I see Ryan Jack in those Scotland squads. I understand that some players may still relish the kudos of being capped at international level but I hate seeing Rangers risk its best assets for an SFA that most of us detest and which has overseen 20 years of catastrophic decline in our so-called national game?
  2. While I enjoyed and agreed with the summary from @Bluedell it's important to remember that the loss was still the full £11.3m stated. Even if some of that figure relates to a previous accounting period and even if some of that loss can be regarded as relating to non-repetitious costs, the accounts nevertheless describe the extent of the journey yet to be undertaken. No matter how well these losses were predicted by the board, no matter how much they adhere to the current business plan, it would be negligent to assume that means we are now in long term security. We're not, yet. The present board has done a commendable job so far and no doubt is fully aware of our remaining challenges. I'm sure they also have a forward business plan to take us to a more sustainable operating regime. However, we remain a very long way from turning an operating profit and even closing the current deficit is heavily dependent on qualifying for European competition group stages every year - something that is a long way from certain. We also seem very dependent on the continuing health and commitment of a small number of key individuals, without which there's no guarantee the current business plan can survive. We're on the right track at last but that's all we are. We're nowhere near a situation where anyone should feel relaxed about the future. Getting better isn't the same as being fully cured. A great deal of remedial work remains to be done and the path is unlikely to be without its challenges. It's vital the board and supporters don't allow the ten-in-a-row issue to subvert or overshadow the rebuilding of Rangers. I'd love to see the financial projections for the next five years, to see how the board sees our income streams and profitability developing ... and how much risk is attached to each element of this. In this business you need to be heavy on caution, contingency planning and operate within reasonable safety margins. This is not to pour cold water of achievements to date, which are considerable, but merely to caution that what we've actually achieved so far is more about direction than financial security.
  3. Alfie, Jack, Davis, Kent, Barisic ... all had good games. Tav getting better with every game but still a bit short of what he can be. Biggest impact overall? Little to choose between them but Jack's distribution, eagerness to be involved and ferocity in the tackle make him the choice for me again. Who knew he would rise to this level? He just look imperious in a Rangers shirt now.
  4. I think the importance of effective player trading to our financial cannot be overstated. We need to be prepared to sign players who we know may never become first team players but who can be loaned out and will turn a profit in two or three years.
  5. Yes it has. Labour's antisemitism pales beside the child abuse excusers of the SNP. Can you imagine where their named person scheme would have led?
  6. The SNP cavalry rides in to buy off the child abusers of Celtic FC and the Catholic Church with taxpayers' money.
  7. No one would be happier about that than the doubters.
  8. I think you might be right but it's too late now. I'd rather play Kent on the right and Jones/Murphy on the left.
  9. It was a joy to see Kent back in business and he did make a big contribution ... but perhaps not the biggest one. I took greater pleasure from seeing our captain continuing to improve and his counterpart on the left side also had a very good game. But I won't be voting for any of those players. ?
  10. Didn’t we fail to beat Ross County the last season they were in the SPL? Or have I imagined that?
  11. Good choices. Seeing Coopers name made me think I’d have included Tommy McLean if I’d remembered - that rarest of things, a consistent winger.
  12. Olivier Bernard was the low point for me. What an absolute imposter.
  13. Who are they buying these shares from? The club can't be issuing new shares to Club1872 alone since that would require shareholder approval at an EGM. If they're talking about purchasing new shares at an upcoming share issue then, while the money will go to Rangers, Club1872 could well end up with a smaller share of the club's equity and the club will sell the shares with or without Club1872. What's the point of any further share purchases? It's certainly not an investment in any normal sense of the word. Is there really no better way to use this money to benefit Rangers fans?
  14. We could leave Wes between the sticks, give the other nine outfield players the rest of the night off ... and leave Ryan Jack to secure his first hat trick. What a talent we have there.

  16. Eric Caldow Ralph Brand Andy Goram Dave Smith Alec McDonald
  17. That is bad news for Rangers. Lets hope they don't appoint a Steven Gerrard before we get there.
  18. I’m sure this is being pursued in good faith and with the best of intentions but, really, what a dreadful waste.
  19. I agree with all of that. Much as I'm impressed and delighted with our progress under Gerrard, I can't avoid a slight sense of unease about the Tavernier situation. Gerrard kept faith with Katic, Barisic, Jack and others to great effect and there's no doubt it's been to the betterment of the team. However, in other instances he has allowed players time out to recuperate and regain confidence. With Tav (and to a lesser extent Arfield) he has kept a starting place month after month for a player who is clearly struggling and who is in danger of becoming a target/scapegoat. We all want Tav in the team, performing at his best, but perseverance may be in danger of undermining that and turning into stubbornness. I hope Gerrard is right.
  20. By far the easiest decision this season so far. Steve Davis by several country miles. No one else even came close.
  21. There’s a suggestion here of one rule for Tav and another for everyone else. Should everyone be allowed to keep their place every week while they under-perform, while the rest of the squad is sent a message they’re neither wanted nor trusted? There’s clearly some sense in keeping faith with your key players but surely there has to be a limit, beyond which it just looks like putting certain players before the interests of the team and the wider squad.
  22. Analysis of individual contributions is one thing but too often, as a team, we follow European excursions and international breaks with poor domestic performances. I don't know if this reflects of an ongoing lack of real depth in the squad or just a tendency to lose focus and momentum. Personally I don't think we're ready to compete effectively on so many different fronts and we can expect the likes of today's struggle to be repeated for a while yet. I still think if we can stay in contention beyond Xmas when European football has run its course for the season and concentrate on the routine of league football, we have a great chance of winning this championship.
