gersnet article (image) Player Ratings and MotM Poll: Porto v Rangers
Bill replied to Frankie's topic in Rangers Chat
It’s not just the range of nominations that’s interesting but the variety of reasons given for justifying the choice. It surprises me the number of times the award is given either to the striker for scoring a single goal or the keeper for making a standout save, when the greatest contribution to the overall team performance is most likely to come from midfield or occasionally fullback or central defender. It would be interesting to see to what extent individual voters maintain the same principle or vote for the same player .... but maybe that stone is best left unturned ? -
The Spring & Summer 2019 Transfer Rumours Thread
Bill replied to der Berliner's topic in Rangers Chat
On a superficial level that all seems so admirable but I thinks it’s based on a fundamental misconception ... that believing people should be free to accumulate wealth means also accepting that poverty is acceptable, or even that one causes the other. I think the poverty that Holyrood presided over in Scotland is as unnecessary as it is shameful. The idea that limiting the wealth of a few will somehow lift large numbers out of grinding futility is a convenient lie and the purpose of that lie is purely to justify socialism. And to provide fodder for the grievance-mongers. You have to wonder how socialism could possibly survive if it didn’t ensure a suitable supply of disadvantaged people. Listening to socialists you’d think the very rich horde their money in sacks under the bed. In reality their wealth is continually invested, for their own benefit of course but also generating tax revenues, pensions, jobs, etc. It is not the role of wealthy people to make up for the stupidity of venal politicians. -
The Spring & Summer 2019 Transfer Rumours Thread

Why? Surely the salary that someone is willing to pay is the correct salary for anyone. I keep seeing condemnation of immoral earnings but I never see any logical justification ... other than envy. Honestly, I wonder how many of those who criticise high earnings would turn it down themselves. -
I look forward to the day when we no longer assess our progress by comparing the team today with the chaotic financial mess and League 2 football of five years ago. Because if that’s what people really think the benchmark should still be then we might as well give up now. Those days are long gone, leave them where they belong.

I'm confused why we are paying good money for Matt Polster to sit on the bench when it's clear he could be improving out right back problem. -

In my opinion only three players turned up for duty yesterday: Davis, Goldson, Barisic. My MOTM vote goes to Connor Goldson, who defended well and whose long ball distribution was excellent at times. A poor team performance to remind us how far we still have to travel. -

If we’re going to persevere with Tav then two things needs to happen. He needs to cut out these routine defensive errors and he needs to let someone else take corners. Personally I think with Barisic finally delivering it’s time we saw what Polster can do. -

Never heard of them. Didn’t they used to make cheap cars?

Are you absolutely sure that's not an SNP election poster? -
Neil Cameron of the Herald said in private conversation about six months ago that Gerrard was very well-regarded among the press corps because he "didn't try to bullshit anyone". We're as lucky to have Gerrard today as we were to have Souness 33 years ago - let's hope he ushers in as much success.
-
Absolutely right.

This is truly pathetic stuff from the latest hapless incarnation of the RST. No, a better word would be embarrassing. Actually, even the RST would have baulked at this rubbish. Is this really what they think the support expects from its largest representative organisation?
-
I'm surprised you think he has any choice. Because if we don't do that we will be back in administration sooner than later.

£160 million would be a little less than £7m per year, which hardly seems an earth-shattering achievement.

Ross Wilson confirmed as new Sporting Director
Bill replied to Stevie - 4lads Blog's topic in Rangers Chat
Open minded about this, just so long as he doesn't undermine our coaching team. We'll know in a couple of years whether he was good value for money. -
Last I heard he was declared bankrupt after he couldn't pay the damages awarded against him to Ticketus. Probably running a bordello in Paraguay, where tax regulations are more flexible.

A few days ago, having just been horsed by Russia, I heard the giant minds at BBC Scotland proclaiming the next match (San marino mind you) would be the start of a new future for Scottish football. That, in a nutshell, is why we're as shite at international sport as we so obviously are.
-
The way we destroyed San Marino it's hard to understand why anyone doubts this Scotland team.

I believe you’d benefit from a couple of years in a monastery. Use the time to calm down and get over your hatred of everyone who’s achieved more than you. ?

I think what you mean is you believed it at the time. ?
