Just checked and Rangers B drew 2-2 (Z Lovelace x 2) in Tranent, coming from behind twice. Hawick Royal Albert (thankfully they've dropped the United) lost 1-0 at Edinburgh United, which was disappointing...particularly with a one man advantage for most of the match. I'm just keen to hear if anyone met 26th!

I kind of wish I was heading to Tranent now. I know Frankie and Ian are real but 26th of foot has an ethereal, fictitious character air about him.

I think it's actually Royal Albert United (I know, I know) now, after a recent merger. I went to see Rangers B recently and that was their only loss this season (at Civil Service Strollers). They're better off without me. Tranent's a lively wee town - I'm sure it'll be a good day.

Thankfully, I managed to get to a lot of grounds before the all-seater rulings came in. Tynecastle has always been a good venue to watch football but I won't be back.

Neither Ajax player got sent off. Our team are far too nice, even by modern standards. Winning is far more important than making friends.

Debatable. If a player has accepted a heavy loss, he's less likely to give it his all or use dirty tricks, I'd say. So when you let a player run clear, instead of pulling his shirt (like two Ajax players did to us) or just taking him down, it makes no difference to the outcome? Interesting way to look at it.

Maybe a tackle every once in a while. Or taking one for the team. Breaking up play. Sticking with your man. Stuff like that.

Set up to make it difficult for high quality opposition and try hard for the full match (we see these things happen week in, week out from opposition teams in domestic football, so the concept isn't an alien one). We didn't do either of these things against Ajax (both matches) or after Jack got taken off against Liverpool.

There would be no point in professional football if the more expensively assembled team won every match. There's accepting getting beat off a better side and then there's using finances as an excuse for piss poor performances. We got beaten by three better teams but we barely competed, in terms of fight, desire, self belief, effort and tactics - that's what I'm annoyed about.
