I think a lot depends on the Morelos situation. If there a few clubs looking at him, we have to balance getting the maximum transfer fee against leaving it too late to bring in new players.

Given their previous acts of vandalism and intimidation of Rangers employees on the street, it's certainly difficult to rule out the Green Brigade and their wannabe Provo cohorts when this sort of thing happens.

Barisic is one of the best players at the club and a regular in the Croatian side. I'd be hoping for more than £15m for him, particularly from an EPL club.

Middleton had a bit more of an end product, from what I saw of him. He scored when chances came.

Expectations and reality often differ, particularly in football. I really hope we don't sell Barisic anytime soon but if I was a footballer, I'd be looking to maximise my income at every opportunity.

Leeds will have a budget and when you try to buy a player, you start with low bids. Once a player's head is turned, that's half the battle. Leeds Utd now play in a league watched by people all over the world. Borna Barisic plays in a league no one outside Scotland cares about.

I was at the Marseille 2-2 game. Under Smith we had two unbelievable Euro runs (92/93 and 07/08) but we also had some total embarrassments.

They have a nice strip at least (red, white and blue stripes).

Under Gerrard, we've been really good in Europe but the one-leg, no crowd situation might alter things a bit. Given our history in Europe, I tend to remain pessimistic - AEK Athens, Unirea Thingybob and Kaunas always remain at the back of my mind. There are some decent sides in the next qualifier and matches, particularly if we're drawn away from home, won't be easy.
