I find statistical analysis of football boring and quite American but others seem to enjoy it all. It misses the point of 'the beautiful game'. Some people just like listening to music and have no interest in reading Bobby Keys' autobiography or trying to figure out what mode Jimmy Page used for the solo on The Rover but others do. As long as Rangers win, I couldn't care less how many 'expected goals' or 'miles run by the left full-back' there were in a match.

Perhaps that was the slice of luck we needed.

Great performance and result today. I think that, yet again, the international break works against us.

I'm a bit disappointed Hagi isn't playing. He's one of the few players we have who can play that killer pass and that's a useful skill in matches like this.

I see Separate Entity FC beat Motherwell, so we have to keep winning. Mon The Rangers!

Like every other league match this season, today's game is hugely important. I'd like to see Hagi, Aribo, Roofe, Itten and Zungu all start. Any kind of win will do but it's about time we started racking up the goals against sides like Hamilton.

A bonfire might be more appropriate.

From what I've read it was a strong line-up.

It's quite odd that we are playing Benfica for the first time (in a competitive match) but the matches either side, versus Kilmarnock and Hamilton Academical, feel much more important. I'd happily take a draw this evening. Benfica lost 3-0 to Boavista at the weekend but the cost of their squad is significantly higher than ours.
