  1. Maybe yahoos who are keen to see Rangers fans referred to as dogs, airheads, knuckledraggers, grunts, clowns, morons, goldfish etc. made it up all up. I have't seen a shred of proof our section sang anything offensive, which is highly unusual, given the current desire by many to film everything and post it on social media.
  2. I read UEFA aren't meeting until the day before the YB match, so any punishment is likely to occur after that fixture. I can't verify that though.
  3. He was the same when he played for us. He's still getting called up for the national side, so retirement may be a while away. Terrific result yesterday but Wednesday night is where the real domestic tests start.
  4. You should suggest this next time you're over for a match. In between telling people they're thicker than dogs and goldfish, of course.
  5. There's reading between the lines and there's drawing incorrect conclusions. I said bans don't work. I think, however, that fans caught singing the songs and add-ons, we know we shouldn't, should be banned. The goldfish and dog references are great, JFK. Really terrific stuff. Are commas not commonly used in America?
  6. You must've missed my additional comment that these things are always likely to happen. That's regardless of bans, abuse on forums by people living in America and Ireland and also regardless of attempts to educate them - because we'll always have a percentage that a) drink too much and b) don't care. I said 'we' (supporters) need to make it clear. Not 'they' (the board) because they already have. I didn't say 'forget' banners and I didn't say they're 'good PR' either. Stop jumping to silly conclusions.
  7. Not really.
  8. Do people still read The Daily Record?
  9. Bans don't work - that's a fact.
  10. I'm not defending anything. I'm suggesting that we take a more sensible approach in dealing with these matters. We need to make it clear, repeatedly, that the club and support will be punished (for certain songs and add-ons but not banners in airports). Not that it'll make much difference either way. We're always going to have a percentage of overly intoxicated and daft fans.
  11. Gerrard has said too much there. Should've been kept in-house.
  12. UEFA won't sanction Rangers for a banner in an airport. Get rid of them? Capital punishment or lifetime bans - what do you reckon? These people follow Rangers all over Europe. Some of the behaviour is not exactly useful but calling them names and demanding bans might not be as credible as trying to educate them about the damage they're doing. Leave the perma-offendedness to the yahoos and ScotNats.
  13. That banner didn't make an appearance at the match and I doubt it was ever intended to. Some of the hissy fits it prompted have amused me.
  14. We'll have to wait and see if there is any closure but Bears in BF1 were refunded for the Legia Warsaw match, so refunds aren't really in doubt.
  15. Sorry to hear that. The lad has had a tough time with injuries.
  16. What is said on football forums is often incorrect. This was a good example of that. If you've ever heard Sweet Caroline at a Rangers supporters function or on a supporters bus, you'll know the add-on had nothing to do with the F word. I really wish Rangers supporters would realise certain words and songs will harm the club and box clever. This isn't going to go away and needs to be cut out at European matches.
  17. He really has become a terrific asset. It's impossible not to smile when he does. Morelos and the Colombian lad at Inter Milan are two of the best strikers in Europe at the moment.
  18. I agree but we all know it's likely to happen from time to time.
  19. The "idiots" who never actually used the word you referred to? So non-existent idiots. I never liked Neil Diamond anyway.
  20. You would hope so but I suspect two days in 'coffee' shops and pubs resulted in the daft behaviour. Sense and reason tend to vanish in these scenarios.
  21. UEFA can't punish clubs for things that happen outside the ground. That's why I felt the hissy fits about the (daft) banner were rather silly. However, we should just adopt a zero tolerance policy, "aggressively" hand out lifetime bans to any Bear (tits, morons, fuds and clowns, apparently) who has ever uttered a nasty word about the yahoos and look forward to an empty Ibrox Stadium. Stick 3,000 Bears in Holland for a couple of days and expecting them all to behave in a civilised and respectable manner is fantasy land territory.
  22. It's the songs that would result in ground closure, not the flares.
  23. People do seem confused about the add-on. Just to be clear, if it's the add-on which was allegedly sung during Sweet Caroline, it's about an Argentine chap, not the Irish.
