True, but that Morelos goal is unbeatable for me. Certainly the the biggest reaction of any Rangers goal all season from me. Scored by the man I've criticised for lacking finesse in his finishing too, he set me straight that night. -

How can a centre midfielder be so good to watch? I'm wary of getting carried away as we always do, but there is no question of his technical ability on the ball. The way he loses his man so often with a quick bit of skill is just a joy to watch. -

Absolutely. I only call them a poor side due to the quality of their players. -

Not really to be fair, I just can't bear the prospect of more points dropped to such a poor side. -

It definitely was. Maybe it's just me but I hate to see a winning run broken and I hate having a bogey team who can always say "you haven't beaten us". I'd like to see Middleton get a game but in general my preferance would be for the same team to break the Kilmarnock hoodoo. -

To be fair I think Burke has ability but needs a certain system to play in. Celtic have bizarrely played him up front often. He has pace to burn and on a wing in a good team would be decent. I'm happy they've wasted their money on him though because he's nothing more than that, a fast winger. Hastie is exactly the player profile we should be aiming to sign for the squad and I bet he was absolutely buzzing watching that yesterday and can't wait for the first day of pre-season. What a feeling that must be after yesterday. -

I was just about to look this up. This was pretty much inconceivable at any time of the season before April. Especially given these are all the top 7. In the first half of the season we'd string some wins together against the bottom teams and then stumble when it came to one the top 6. What a turnaround. By the way @buster., can we use the word "huge" for Kilmarnock? In 3 league games this season we've drawn 2 and lost 1. How deflating would it be to fail to win at Rugby park after such an inspired run? And how deflating to end the season 8 or 9 points behind instead of 6? Of course strictly speaking the game is meaningless, but in terms of morale and signalling our intent, showing that we are a different team and extending that winning run to 7 it is very important. -

Somebody said the exact same thing about the U18 final. Everyone was complaing about the BBC's coverage but this guy said Celtic TV were balanced. -

What a strange thing to sing. Why not sing Celtic won't see 9 in a row? -
The header should have been scored imo. Not sure which other one you're referring to but I'm pretty sure he hit the post from an open goal too.
-
The opposition matters here too. Celtic have an answer to Morelos's physicality in Ajer. Long balls and physical duals are his bread and butter, he's the most physical centre back in the league and has the best stats in those areas. However put Defoe up against Ajer and I think you'll expose weaker parts of his game.
-
I think they will. They've been very poor in a number of games away from home this season, the cracks have certainly widened from last season. But they have loads of cash and the chance to bring in a new manager again who would be handed a big budget. I think we'll need to be far better than we were this season because they are bound to improve.

The Spring & Summer 2019 Transfer Rumours Thread

It isn’t happening, too expensive -
It is for me in terms of morale. It would show December wasn't a one off and would make a huge difference to the final league table. Players weighing up a move here will look at that table carefully and come to a conclusion on how realistic winning the league next season is.
-
The final old firm game is huge. Losing the title by only 6 points with wins in both home games against them and a very similar goal difference would really set us up for next season. I can be optimistic looking forward but I'm not so good at putting a gloss on what's behind us.
-
I don't take comfort from Aberdeen & Hibs falling away, which is mainly what that is. Both of them have been signficantly weaker than last season with the loss of key players. I do take some comfort from the fact that we are a stronger side and the goal difference shows it. But what else do you expect after spending circa £7.5m? An improved goal difference and a handful of extra points is the least you expect. "Frustrating" isn't a strong enough word for the failure to get full points from a game all season. It took almost the whole season for the management to realise that 4-3-3 wasn't working with this set of players. Kent & Candeias were too limited to be part of a real front 3, they failed all season to chip in with goals. There was a baseless hope that they would somehow just "add it to their game". So yes we are much closer to challenging for the league next season but I am far from content with this league campaign.

He didn't, he's looked shoehorned in both times. I think there's an element of keeping Liverpool happy tbh. -

I saw someone say on FF that he was sick at half time. If so then fair enough. But I watched the game back and everything was going through Arfield, Kent was invisible. We're trying to make him fit into a formation he doesn't fit into in my opinion (not only based on this game). To be fair it's not like we have many candidates for it, but he looks lost in the middle which is in stark contrast to Arfield who's off the ball movement and link up play is fantastic. The formation really plays to his strengths. -
We've had next to no-one who is a long shot specialist for a very long time. Next season, although not stick on starters, we'll have Middleton and Hastie in and around the squad who can both fly them in from distance. In my opinion in an ideal world you've got top quality players making up the backbone of your starting line-up (your Barry Fergusons and de Boers), but with room for some young talent too. I've said before we won a treble and got 97 points and 101 goals with both Maurice Ross and Bob Malcolm racking up 30 odd appearances. You don't need every position to be perfect, yet it sometimes seems like perfection is the standard required of young players by our support when they break through. For too long Rangers have clogged up the squad with fairly average older players who's value and performance are only going down year by year. There needs to be space for them to break through and (maybe more importantly) we need to actually be buying young players that fit that description like Hastie if our own academy doesn't produce them.

His first goal was a brilliant finish too, powerful left foot shot in the bottom right corner. The thing about him is that his shooting is so good they can’t stop the goals even when they know exactly what is coming. If you pause the video above at the time he shoots he’s totally surrounded by that time. Reminds of of Albertz in that way.
-
I agree with you. In my opinion we need to spend more money on one of these positions than anywhere else, by that I mean the "inside forward" and/or the number 10. Despite being top goalscorers we've lacked quality and goals there, Kent & Candeias relied on Morelos because they just didn't do it in the goalscoring positions.
-
It does, but his poor stats back me up. I said way back in August that the end product just wasn't there. Of course he did well to score against Celtic, but he hasn't been good enough to create proper chances consistently and score goals consistently. These things are really important in his position in a 4-3-3. Don't get me wrong every game is different and you need variety, but in many games this season I'd have preferred Middleton who might not be as involved in the play but has the quality to get you a goal or set someone up. As Frankie said he didn't even play well last night but scored two fantastic goals. So different from Kent who gets plaudits for looking busy and beating guys where it doesn't matter but ending the game with nothing to his name.
-
Sorry I missed that, I was on my phone at the time.
-
All gisabeer said was that Kent doesn’t have that in his locker. He doesn’t, Middleton is clearly a better goal scorer than him, never mind long distance shooter. Kent has been our most overrated player all season.

We can’t conpete with the league they play in either. Don’t forget ambitious players like Gray want to be playing in the best league in the world. I’d be amazed if he didn’t have a chance to do that.
