  1. I hope Walter sits down with his staff, including Murray and sets out a direction for the club. WS is Rangers through and through but why is he so negative with selections? Does he not have confidence in the pack of cards he has been dealt with? I could understand his point if this was true but he plays the dumplings that ive no confidence in. Next season we have to get closer to Celtic and i think we will slightly but not over a season. He has got to get back to putting 2 strikers on the field. If he wants to keep 5 in the midfield then fine, play a 3-5-2. Ok, he doesnt have an open cheque book to sign 6 million pound players again but FFS lets set out ambitions higher than Scott McDonald. Id rather Scott MacLean back than him as the latter is playing at a higher level than Motherwell IMO. The dead wood needs booted out along with those who just dont have it in there locker. IMO Ian Murray, Charlie Adam, Gavin Rae and Kris Boyd are squad players at best and others arent far off them like Sebo, Novo, Thomson, but these guys have to be playing right now as we dont have anyone else. Kevin Thomson hasnt impressed me one bit and I wasnt impressed when we signed him. He has to prove this bear wrong. We are crying out for some experienced midfielders and strikers. Its worked good at the back bring in 2 older players and we still have a few young centre halfs in Svensson, Papac and Webster to come in. A quality forward needs to come in. Ive mentioned Robbie Fowler before as the answer. People say he is finished but he is 30 or 31 and still has a magical touch compared to Boyd. I honestly think he would sign for us if we went for him.
  2. Scotland squad: Goalkeepers: C Gordon (Hearts), A McGregor (Rangers), N Alexander (Cardiff), I Turner (Everton) Defenders: G Alexander (Preston), R Anderson (Aberdeen), G Caldwell (Celtic), C Dailly (West Ham), S McManus (Celtic), J McNamara (Wolves), G Murty (Reading), G Naysmith (Everton), S Pressley (Celtic), D Weir (Rangers) Midfielders: S Brown (Hibernian), C Burke (Rangers), B Ferguson (Rangers), P Hartley (Celtic), L McCulloch (Wigan), N Quashie (West Ham), S Severin (Aberdeen), G Teale (Derby) Forwards: C Beattie (Celtic), K Boyd (Rangers), S Maloney (Aston Villa), K Miller (Celtic). No Kevin Thomson, Mark Wilson or Steven Whittaker and a callup for the third choice Everton goalkeeper:confused:
  3. Are we getting near election time by any chance? Clicky
  4. After the events of the weekend it it as now simple as that? Union flags removed; 'tim' now the new ******; daft songs about politician's wives condemned; 'Dambusters' offensive to a Japanese player; culminating in 5 Rangers fans being arrested and countless warned. Meanwhile the opposition fans have offensive flags claiming we are sub-human, flags remembering terrorists, banners with politicial rebels of the past; continue to use the word 'hun' whenever and wherever they like and none of their fans are arrested. Are we really being paranoid in thinking our behaviour is being constantly highlighted and punished whilst others (particularly Celtic fans) is ignored? Obviously my thread title is a sensationalist one but it is all that inaccurate?

    Sebo

I know the likes of Novo and Hutton were top drawer today but Sebo deserves a mention. He comes in and finally gets a start, and i thought he was excellent today. He challenged every ball and ran into there defence with pace and strength and gave them a tough time. We have to remember he was up against there back 4 on his own. Boyd needs to take note on how to play upfront on his own. Ive been saying it all season that Sebo deserves a run in the team and I think he will come good if he gets a partnership going with someone - who knows it may even be Boyd but id rather he played upfront with Novo. The celtic defence hated the fact he was sliding in at full pelt. Great stuff Sebo.
  6. 1-0 Milan - but then I suppose you are all watching it anyway ........ Seems the Tims have done pretty well - but lets hope that Milan put another one away to ensure safe passage to the quarters. Also is good that it went to Extra Time as that is a killer, especially with the OF game on Sunday. Come on Milan !!
  7. AC Milan v Celtic - Home win Arsenal v PSV - Home win Bayern V R Madrid - Draw Man U v Lille - Home win That WOULD leave the last 8 IMO as: AC Milan Arsenal Bayern Chelsea Liverpool Man U Roma Valencia I think an English side could win it this year.
  8. Hibs v Dunfermline St Johnstone v Celtic
  9. RANGERS are believed to be keeping tabs on Poland striker Grzegorz Rasiak, of Southampton. The 6ft 3in, 28-year-old has bagged 19 goals this season in Saints' push to get back into the Premiership. Gers No.3 Kenny McDowall went to look at Rasiak in Saturday's 1-0 win over Ipswich, but the former Derby County and Spurs man was an unused sub. Rasiak was signed from White Hart Lane last May in a £2m deal after failing to make an impact in London. advertisement But the 35-times capped Poland frontman, who was a team-mate of Celtic duo Maciej Zurawski and Artur Boruc at the World Cup last year, has shone since his transfer to Southampton. Gers boss Walter Smith is keeping his options open on the striking front with Dado Prso's future still unclear. But he knows he needs to add firepower to a front line that has relied solely on the Kris Boyd's goals this season. I suppose we will be linked with many players in the next few months.
  10. http://www.rangerssupporterstrust.co.uk/rstsite/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=87&Itemid=1 The Rangers Supporters' Trust has today called on the journalist Gerry McNee and the News Of The World to make a public apology to the Rangers support for the disgraceful slur which appeared on 25 February. This is not the first time Mr. McNee has made deliberately provocative statements about Rangers Football Club and the people who follow it but the next time Mr. McNee wants to view bigotry close up, he should simply look in his bathroom mirror. Mr. McNee wrote: "Perhaps they (Rangers) should be looking at another fringe activity on match days when a section of the crowd jump up and down chanting 'bouncy, bouncy, ha, ha, ha'. Is that based on sectarian gangs in Northern Ireland jumping on the heads of victims? No doubt there's another explanation for that too." Gerry McNee has now reached rock bottom in terms of standards, decency and accuracy by pretending that this is a perverse 'celebration' of the sickening sectarian murder of Robert Hamill in 1997, an accusation previously appearing only on the most extreme Republican/Celtic websites. The 'fringe activity' he talks of is widely known and accepted as a terrace song and dance known colloquially as 'The Bouncy', in evidence amongst Rangers fans as far back as 1989. Indeed in 1994, 3 years before Mr. Hamill's murder, 'The 'Bouncy' is specifically referred to in the Club's own Rangers Video Diary as Security Chief Alistair Hood is jokingly asked if seatbelts will be used to prevent fans in the East and West Enclosures doing this. In light of the evidence, the Trust calls for a full public apology to be printed in next Sunday's News of the World. Should this not be forthcoming, the Trust believes that Rangers FC will have no alternative but to remove media privileges from Mr. McNee and his newspaper, in line with the Chairman's statement to the 2006 Rangers AGM. The RST continues to campaign against REAL bigotry.

    Osasuna Forum

Anyone interested would be welcome at the Osasuna Forum. http://www.forumosasuna.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=40 I haven't registered but browsed through it. They seem very switched on and have a sticky entitled, "Rangers and Celtic fans read this first" which says: They've already edited some of the defamatory posts from 'the other side' and seem to have a great attitude.
  13. What you think on the game ahead tonight, i think Mlan will win it 2-1 consdering the injuries the have, also for Celtic 3 of there strikers are doubts
  14. After Walter Smith left the club in 1998 nobody it can be said with hindsight that we went off track. We were the domestic force by a country mile for a long period of time but not able to compete with the big boys of Europe so an alternative route was taken. Domestic success wasnt enough. It started with a bang with Dick Advocaat in charge. We missed out on our 10th title in a row the previous season which sent us in to the UEFA cup in 1998/99. We matched the mighty Parma that season and retained our league title - we were champs again. This continued into the next season and we competed in Europe with 3 teams from the top shelf - once again Parma, PSV and Bayern - the latter being extremely lucky to get anything off us. Only Valencia out classed us this year and we missed out on the next stage which really was a downfall moment. But the title was retained. The next season we all expected more of the same however it couldnt have went worse. Our midfield which was a match for anyone up and down the country and contributed to around 35+ goals a season was totally sold off. Some of them wanted to leave to join bigger clubs (which has back fired) but some wanted to stay. In replacement we were told better players were coming in, however we got an aging midfielder from Hibs (Latapy), a midfielder that didnt kick a ball for us (Nerlinger) and an aging striker from Dundee (Canniggia) - nothing near to what we had just sold off. We were battered in the league by Celtic. We were soaked with debt and had to downsize dramatically. A young scottish manager came in (McLeish) and didnt have an open cheque book like his previous managers. However he still signed a high quantity of players but never seemed to know what to do with them. In the next 5 seasons we won 2 titles which could easy have went the other way. But he still gave us a number of trophies but a mighty glamours side we were not. Teams would come to our fortress and no longer be intimidated, instead they were capable of matching us. We were no longer winning old firm games left right and centre like we were used to - infact we were struggling to win them home or away while being left trailing in the league. We decided to go for a top Euro coach which delighted every Blue Nose and many expected a fix over night. Many were sensible and expected a fix over a period of at least 4-6 months and some expected a fix in a year. But nobody expected us to go backwards. We didnt think the previous season could have been worsened however it. In europe however, we were doing ok and broke into the last 16 of the CL and this season we are no means out of the last 16 of the UEFA. - This was 1 bright spark from our depression run. Something happened back stage in the dressing room that we wont end up finding out but it forced us into another change in manager. We brought back the man who has lead us to so much domestic glory and the master of getting the better of Celtic - CAN HE DO IT AGAIN?? And can he return us to the Summit of Scotland where we should be?? But Walter will certainly patch up a few wrongs that we have like defensive weaknesses and any dressing room splits. But importantly he will have the players playing for the jersey again. Along side him this time is a cult hero in Govan and our record goalscorer - Mr McCoist who knows more than anyone what its like to pull on the blue jersey. I believe he has came in at a good time as the league was gone and domestic cups were gone and he has this few months to find out what he needs in the team. Not much pressure on him except to get us 2nd spot in the league which we are favourites for. So roll on August where we can begin afresh again and this time next year we hope to be back on top.
  15. 2-0 to the mhankies at half time but Nakamura scored another peach of a free kick. The sheep are them usual self - cant raise there game unless its us. Even the fans dont turn up, there are loads of empty seats but when I was there in December for our game it was a complete sell out. Im not watching the 2nd half - i cant stand seeing any of them win even though a celtic win is better for us for 2nd place.
  16. Im tempted to go for: PRESTON v Man City Middleboro v West Brom - Draw Aberdeen v Celtic - Draw
  17. Empty San Siro awaits the mhanks You would be gutted if you had allready booked up to go.
  18. Scotland u21 lost to a far suprier German team yesterday but what is more dissappointing is that there was not one Rangers player in the team or even on the bench. Where are all these super-talents we are supposed to have. SCOTLAND McNeil (Hibernian) [McDonald {Hearts} 45]; Ross (Dunfermline Athletic), Wallace (Hearts); Fitzpatrick (Motherwell), Cuthbert (Celtic), Reynolds (Motherwell); McGlinchey (Celtic) [smith {Motherwell} 45], Robertson (Dundee United) [Dorrans {Livingston} 45], Naismith (Kilmarnock), Quinn (Celtic) [Adams {Kilmarnock} 68], Conroy (Celtic) [Considine {Aberdeen}81] UNUSED SUBS Kenneth (Dundee United), Cameron (Dundee United)
  19. Emailed to me from a mate. Name 15 ex Celtic players who are CURRENTLY playing in the English Premiership?
  20. Former Celt rejects Gers Thu, Feb 01 2007 18:45 Mark Fotheringham has revealed he snubbed Rangers to join Norwich - because he wanted to play a higher standard of football. The former Celtic star joined on transfer deadline day along with fellow Scot, Simon Lappin, who arrived from Scottish Premier League side St Mirren. Fotheringham had been training with Rangers for a week and looked set to join Walter Smith's men. However, having watched Peter Grant's side take on Wolves at Carrow Road on Tuesday evening, the 24-year-old was quick to change his mind. The former Dundee player said: "I went to watch Rangers against Hearts at the weekend, it was alright but I think the standard is a lot stronger in the Championship as a whole, with the amount of teams and the size of the clubs here so that was obviously a big decision for me but, I am just delighted to be down here, I'm buzzing." Fotheringham looks set to make his debut against Leeds at Carrow Road this weekend and admits he is excited about lining up with his new team-mates for the first time. "I am so impressed with the squad, we have got some good players here and I just can't wait to get started playing with them," he added.
  21. Thumbs up to this idea - I like Ecks thinking here of playing England at the new Wembley aswell http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/internationals/6329523.stm This is someone id welcome the return of. I can only remember the Rous Cup with Scotland and England, but would love to see the home nations like Wales v NI and Scotland v Wales etc even without England. It creates a huge interest and is worth playing for every 2 years.
  22. Now compare this to the first squad. Talk about just giving everyone a number and saying Odds in the A squad and Evens in the B squad but McGregor your in both!! Who the hell is Broadfoot, Greer, McEveley???
  23. was listening to the real radio phone in last night to catch up on the transfer gossip. Timmy after Timmy was phoning and texting in saying Keane was at Celtic Park right now for talks. Delighted so they were. One guy even phoned up to say his mate drove him there. 5 minutes later Keane was named in the Spurs starting line up for the Arsenal game!
