Summer Transfer thread - fun while it lasted!

Recommended Posts

So lads, Gioan, Ortiz, Wallace, Bartley, Bocanegra, Bedoya, McKay in and Boogie and Little out, are you happy with that minus the fact we failed to secure a striker?

Thats worth a new thread for discussion.

The Sun are claiming that "Kyle Hutton and John Fleck missed out on a loan move to Sheffield United with the paperwork not done in time":

Would be quite happy if this is true especially with Hutton. I wouldnt let him out in the first place after showing a lot of promise. Its a shame for the lad that he seems himself dropping down the pecking order for new players who havent played yet plus the 2 dumplings (Edu and McCulloch just in case anyone was wondering  )

It will not help Hutton to sit on the bench.

The only difference between our youngsters, and the likes of Goodwillie, Dorrans, McCarthy etc. is that they were playing every week.

I think this is exactly what these two players need. Hutton's chances will be great diminished just now and we will reap the benefits of him playing regular football, same goes for Fleck. It did the likes of McGregor/Adam no harm in getting firth team football and it's something we need to do more of.

Looks like the sun were right then :(

Despite reports elsewhere, Rangers youngsters Kyle Hutton and John Fleck did NOT go out on loan to Sheff United.

From the Yorkshire Post this morning, looks like it will be done soon.

Manager Danny Wilson has two players ready to fill the vacuum up front created by Slew’s departure with the planned arrival of Rangers duo Kyle Hutton and John Fleck, both 20.

Able to play either as strikers or attacking midfielders, they will join Sheffield United on season-long loans

I agree he shouldnt be sitting on the bench but he should have been playing far more in the first place. His chances were being diminished due to poor management selections. Edu was absolutely rank last season and McCulloch has been injured. If the new signings dont play well and Edu and McCulloch continue with last years form then there is no reason he shouldnt be playing. Same goes for Ness.

None of them are 'marquee' players, not even close.

Goian: seems decent so far, probably about the same as Bougherra but without the stinking attitude.

Ortiz: struggled to settle in, not really performing yet.

Wallace: decent, better than Papac by a bit of a distance.

Bartley: seemed impressive last season but can't judge him yet this year.

Bedoya: only just joined, can't really comment yet.

Bocanegra: decent without being special.

McKay: obviously cannot judge at all.

I think we've done very averagely. That Wallace was our big summer signing borders on slightly depressing.
