The use of understands does not mean it's untrue in this instance just as it does not mean the story is untrue when a journalist uses it.

I think the point is that there is a legitimate use to cover your arse in case you end up getting the wrong end of the stick, compared to completely making up a story that has a tenuous relationship to the truth to further your agenda - be it to disparage a party or to sell newspapers, and using it as a get out clause.

 

Which is which and to what degree is subjective, but the distinction is worth pointing out.

 

"Understands" is usually followed by spin.

as i posted 2 days ago the deal for our licence is done

 

some more info i have been given is

 

spl to get 15 rangers games as part of there tv coverage,for 3 years

 

30 odd games to rangers tv with 20% of proceeds going to sfl

 

no stripping of trophies

 

a line drawn through this horrible mess

 

if this is the basis of the agreement i say well done charles green

 

will not name my source ,although earl of leven knows who it is

 

from ff. if its right it looks a good deal.

 

especially the draw a line under the whole mess part.
