Whittaker's best games for Rangers were when he played in a midfield role, sure that was the role he was playing when he scored that cracker against Sporting Lisbon. Wallace is an out an out, specialist, attacking left back and is better in that position than Whittaker ever was.

I also think Wallace is stronger than Whittaker. One of Whittaker's major benefits to Rangers was his utility capability, which he personally may or may not have liked, sure most players prefer a specific position. Both players can cross a ball, though Wallace seems to get to the line more and whips in some excellent left sided balls.

I always thought Whittaker had potential for great consistency, but honestly and maybe it could be lack of positional consistency, never saw it. Prefer Wallace as a player.

I don't agree at all. Whittaker never looked great in midfield.

if we are going to talk about every mistake then we might as well say pele was shite.

See, I do not solely blame Whittaker for us ending up with no CL footie that season, but a double-hash by him within a fortnight was a big contributing factor. He was one demanding a better deal ... and essentially getting it from Whyte when the latter took over the reign. Not that many weeks before Malmö. I'm not saying Whittaker is a bad footballer, but he was prone to lapses and in general no more consistent in that right back place than e.g. Clelland. He sure was / is great when going forward on occasion and I always remember his goals and assists during our CL and EL games. I wonder if those who sing him praises right now would do the same with Kirkwood, Hemdani and some others of that team too?

Wallace not in the starting line-up? Reading some of the above makes you think that a) the "third tier players have no place in a national side - no matter what" - virus has taken a grip, and b) some people seem to think that what East Fife, Stenhousemuir and Queen of the South throw at us on a weekly basis is lightyears apart from what St. Johnstone, Killie or Dundee United would. What Belgium can throw at any of the Scottish defenders is worlds apart from what any of the latter will face on a weekly basis though. And just don't try to tell us that Whittaker was facing EPL sides on a weekly basis since leaving. He's played a whopping 16 games for the Canaries since 2012.
