who ever described le tissier as a one trick pony?

and now pirlo?!! good God.

Now, come on. What is Le Tissier best remembered for? Sure not his athleticism, back-tracking and defensive work?

And that makes him a one trick pony ? Behave

Saying that Vuckic is a one trick pony was nonsense, IMHO. Likewise would be saying that Le Tissier was. The sarcasm of it all was apparently lost with some. The remark above was a particuarly banterous one aimed at GS, who slated a certain Slovenian for his lack of what I listed.

Or, in short, Le Tissier will sure be best remembered for his left-footed strikes. No-one would reasonably argue that Le Tis was a one-trick pony though. No-one would reasonably compare Le Tis with Vuckic, but neither would one say that Vuckic is a one-trick pony because most of his goals came from his left foot. It should have been easy enough to work out, IMHO.

I'm not a big fan of Haris, though if it wasn't for him, we'd have finished outside the play-offs IMO.

I think he's a decent player and would do a job but I think he's very slow and a bit predictable.

I see :wtf:. The reason Vuckic gets called a one tricky pony is because he does the same move on a regular basis, cutting inside from the right onto his left foot to hit a powerful curler.

So despite Vuckic scoring goals with both feet and his head in his short time with us, he's a one trick pony? Got it.

Don't let logic or subtlety get in the way of a good lynching. Fill your boots.

How are we defining "one-trick pony"? "a person or thing with only one special feature, talent, or area of expertise." I think most footballers would come under that definition -- Messi does the same stuff over and over again.

Vuckic has one special talent, and that is his left foot. He's not particularly quick, or skillful, but he has a decent 'jink' (?), or acceleration to move away from a player and a very good left foot. He started his career as a striker and I think most can see he isn't particularly effective/suited in midfield. He needs to be played further up. I think he was sussed out to a degree at the end, but he was still able to beat a man to get a shot off (I'm thinking of the Hibs play-off game at Easter Road), but it seemed to me it was executed from further and further away from the goal.

If we could get him cheaply, then I'd take him; he'd do a job. He was one of our 'better' player, but relatively speaking he's not an exceptional talent.

Most players do in fact specialise, which can come under the definition of 'one-trick pony'. I think Vuckic could be considered a 'one-trick pony' in the sense that he specialises on his strength, but IMO most players do so, so it shouldn't be a derogatory assignation.
