Rangers could face punishment over sectarian chanting

Recommended Posts

Where I sit in the Sandy Jardine stand there was a lot of singing of the banned words from the front five or six rows.It was disappointing but with the sell out crowd there would have been a lot of fans not normally at Ibrox and this may have led to the problem.

Thing is,it seems like all the offended ones tune into every Rangers game waiting for this kind of thing,MSM being one of the biggest culprits,no-one from the MSM seems to listen into Celtic games,or hear every team we play what their fans sing to us Rangers fans,it does seem a one way street when this issue raises it's head now and again!

Why can't we go back to this version.

Hello hello We are the Billy boys

Hello hello you'll know us by our noise

We follow Glasgow Rangers our hearts are strong an true

We are the people that cheer the boys in blue.

Sorry the original was.

A goal, a goal, we're ready to acclaim

A goal, a goal, to win another game

We follow Glasgow Rangers, our hearts are strong and true

We are the people, who cheer the boys in blue.

The club needs to come out and condemn the song but also push very strongly why it is only Rangers who are ever targeted as being bigots, everybody hears what the vile reptiles sing at EVERY game they play home or away, they must push for an answer otherwise this will never end.

Some fans just can't stop themselves with the add ons!

This is a debate that is raging since 2007, when the Yahoo-driven campaign began in earnest.

UEFA (Catholic) Austrian delegate (after being peltered by complaints) took exception to FTP and the like and had us punished despite us being first cleared of any wrongdoing. UEFA contacted the club with regard to TBB and FTP, on grounds of them being discriminatory (rather than sectarian), and we were - as per letter mentioned above - essentially banned from singing any sort or version of TBB ever since. "But how can they ban ..." is the usual argument ever since. Well, if we want to participate in a competition, we have to follow the competition's rules. If you start yelling in an opera you'll get thrown out. House rules et al. If UEFA decide that something is against their rules, you can start debating with UEFA about it. Anything else is pointless ... and singing the song is not helping the club.

Now, the SFA and SP(F)L have gratefully took the UEFA shield to hide behind and whip up their own "bill". And for reasons rather well known - if not openly talked about - they apply their rules primarily against the club and support which has been sanctioned by the high-up from Lyon and Geneva. There is and has been large scale singing of discrimnatory and sectarian stuff ever since 2007, and you'd have to suffer from rather strng symptoms of impaired listening if you couldn't here they abuse we received from the Jambos, the Hibees, the Arabs and not least the Yahoo scum these past few years. I take it that the Motherwell fans were sure in fine voice as well. And the media and the authorities were all over them, weren't they?

As has been said, if anything comes of this, we should seriously question the way the authorities handle this issue and if they whip u any sanctions, we should take them to the cleaners.

Likewise, as has been the case for a near decade, if we want the scum support of other clubs being treated like we do, we need to report them to the relevant authorities (if possible beyond Scotland) EACH TIME they cross the line. More often than not, we rather sit on our PCs and lament about all this on various boards, but hardly take any action. It is where the Yahoos have won a war or two already ... and we won't gain any gound back by "not behaving" like them. After all, we want a level playing field.

NB: And yes, there is no need whatsoever to get TBB back, for it is discriminatory to the core. We have dozens of good and rousing Rangers tunes out there.

I disagree with your statement not the ban. There is nothing more rousing as 50.000 people shouting Hello Hello!
