Realistically where are we now

Recommended Posts

We were head and shoulders above Celtic in our cup match and destroyed Dundee too. I don't think there's that huge a difference between the divisions. Certainly not between the lower teams in this league and the upper ones in the second anyway. Our style has just completely fallen apart this season: the pace is pedestrian, the flowing passing moves are largely gone, we're extremely predictable and just don't have the same cohesion on the park. We've made poor signings to the detriment of the side and we're just nothing like the exciting, vibrant, high tempo side of last season.

Put it this way, if the side we had a year ago was playing in this division right now, there is no way they'd be languishing in 5th place.

If you believe that you don't know much about football.

I don't think you believe it really.

Replace them or improve them like any manager with under performing staff.

Regardless managers always carry the can.

That's a fact. Literally true in football.

It's not an opinion.

The manager gets sacked the players remain.

That's what he did ... with the fine-tuning taking time. After all, we only have so many players about. The Scum game aside, we have outplayed folk without having the cutting edge. We've tried and find that for these last few weeks and after settling the defence, we seem to have now found a midfield-attack - line-up that works well enough. The only thing that needed to be done was putting chances away ... and that's the work of the strikers, not that chap on the touchline.

I agree but it remains a fact that he Carries the can for their failures like any other manager

Where are we now? Languishing in second place. Languishing because our aim is top but in the meantime with the massive advantages the current top have it's acceptable. And I still say we're far and away better than all but one other. The sheep are shite against any side with just a hint of quality while Hearts are inconsistent and despite our flaws we're better than both.

It's significant that the press etc have been labeling us as playing badly but haven't said the same thing about the sheep or Hearts yet here we are above them both. Playing crap. What does that suggest will happen when we start playing well?

We have been out of the top tier for years. We were told we would be 10 years behind Selik because of the ground they would gain in our absence. Anyone actually believe we are years behind them? And some people are annoyed we wont win the league this year!

Off the park definitely. On it we might get away with being so far off behind it.
