On a sidenote there are some supporters buses running to this game, and I have just heard that my own RSC, Nithsdale, are running a bus and that it is already over-subscribed.

 

I think we are going to be amazed at the numbers going to this game in Lux!

 

I agree, a certain admin poured scorn on my suggestion of 10,000 but I think we will fill the stadium which holds c.9,000 I believe.

There are hardly any decent tickets available online at the moment so will need to wait for Sunday and hope all the season ticket holders don't take theirs

 

I could have taken the wife and kids ST seats for you rbr - they wont be going as neither are in Scotland right now but I could have secured the tickets for you - they are in CD4

I think you need to recant the above statement BH because you are completely "at it".

 

At no point in time did I "pour scorn" on your suggestion that 10,000 Bears would make the travel. That is, quite frankly, a complete and utter lie on your part. What I DID say is that there was absolutely no chance that 10,000 people had booked their travel arrangements in advance of getting official confirmation of the date and time of the game. And I stand by that statement.

 

Might be worth your time just desisting with lies, which your above statement is. Or at least reviewing what was ACTUALLY said before casting aspersions.

Mark Fotheringham reckons Rangers are about to discover a new order within European football has been established in their absence.

 

The former Norwich and Anorthosis Famagusta midfielder is adamant the Ibrox club’s six-year exile has witnessed a change of the guard among the traditional continental elite.

 

That reality could be reinforced if the Light Blues progress past Luxembourg’s Progres Niederkorn and line up a Europa League second-round qualifier against AEL Limassol, who should have no problems beating part-time St Joseph’s of Gibraltar.

 

A trip to Cyprus appears the likely collision course for Pedro Caixinha and his players but Fotheringham insists anyone believing it will provide safe passage into the third round is stuck in the past.

 

He said: “I think most of Scotland’s football fans are in a dream world. Cypriot champions Apoel reached the Champions League quarter-finals a few seasons ago but Celtic can’t even get into the group stage regularly.

 

“I keep hearing the word ‘minnow’ being bandied around when talking about clubs from the likes of Cyprus and Malta but Scottish fans are in a different world altogether.

 

“Make no mistake, AEL are a good side who were in the Champions League three seasons ago.“We see teams from Cyprus and Malta coming to Scotland and beating our clubs and it’s treated as a shock but it’s not to me as I’ve been there and seen how they play, train and work.

 

“They’re good teams, technically they are of a high standard, they know the game and knock the ball about well. They also have big budgets which attracts players from all over Europe. There are a lot of players recruited from Portugal and Spain.

 

“They are very serious about the game, they have a good work ethic and know how to fight but it’s also a different style of football and that’s why they do so well. They adapt to the European style.”

 

AEL fans are among the most extreme in the hardcore range of European clubs and once again Fotheringham believes our game is deluding itself in the most passionate supporter stakes.

 

The 33-year-old spent a season with Anorthosis seven years ago and says the atmosphere at AEL’s 13,000-seater Tsirion Stadium will put the Light Blues support in the shade. He said: “AEL have plenty of backing from their fans and believe me, there’s no chance Scottish fans are better than what I experienced in Cyprus.

 

“Anorthosis fans were the best I played for and they are one of the best sets of fans in Europe.“If you look at when Apoel Nicosia reached the Champions League quarter-final in 2012, when they were knocked out by Real Madrid I remember the commentators who were covering the game in Cyprus being shocked.

 

“There were 25,000 fanatical Nicosia fans at the game and they aren’t normal, they’re mental and it’s an incredible atmosphere.“They get behind the team for 90 minutes, there are flares being let off and they sing from the start of the warm-up right through to the last minute. They are so passionate it’s incredible and it’s about more than football for them.”

 

If Rangers get past Progres to face AEL, Fotheringham reckons Caixinha will know the size of the task that confronts his side – starting with the underdog tag.

 

He said: “Rangers won’t be the favourites. There are no easy games, those days are gone. This will be a massive hurdle for them.“A few of the clubs are really wealthy and if they reach the Champions League it can bring in £12million to £15m so they’re all chasing that.

 

“The Europa League is also a big deal for them due to the financial rewards on offer. Caixinha will know all about AEL as he was at Panathinaikos. The top three teams in both Greece and Cyprus are very strong and traditionally do well in Europe each year.

 

“He’s an experienced coach and knows how to get a hunger into his side and he’ll know what’s required after last season when the team were miles off it.“Cypriot football has changed a bit in recent years as Anorthosis had serious financial issues but the two Limassol teams have come on stronger.

 

“If you throw AEK Larnaka into the fray as well then you have a good mix and a strong set of clubs doing well in Europe year after year.”

Let me make it abundantly clear to you - and perhaps you will try to remove your personal bias before responding.

 

1. You said that it could affect as many as 10,000 travelling fans

2. This is the important part so please pay close attention.... I said that there was no way it would affect 10,000 fans BECAUSE at the point in time you made the suggestion there was virtually NO WAY that many fans would have booked their travel. I STAND BY THAT STATEMENT. But the important thing for you to try to pay close attention to is this... AT NO POINT DID I SAY THERE WOULDNT BE 10,000 TRAVELLING BEARS. The "scorn" that I poured on your statement was whether 10,000 fans had made travel plans at that point in time.

3. Your post at #231 is the pertinent post. It is in that post that you make the wildly inaccurate, may, lie, that I suggested that I suggested we wouldn't have 10,000 travelling fans.

 

Check the relevant posts from me and PROVE to me I said that we wouldn't have 10,000 travelling fans. And when you actually FAIL to do so, I will still be here awaiting my apology.

 

You either unwittingly or deliberately twisted words that I never said. Indeed, in the above post you are even attempting to turn the tables on me by suggesting you hadn't suggested 10,000 would have booked travel plans. The issue, at that point in time, only affected those who had ALREADY booked their travel plans.

 

Further, your post at #231 quoted a post that mentioned the number of travelling fans and you replied to that quote that I poured scorn on their being 10,000 travelling fans. I'm tired saying it but show me where I said we wouldn't have 10,000 travelling fans.... that is the crux of this and you KNOW you are wrong.

 

I never jumped to any wrong conclusion. So, again, I invite you to PROVE that. You can't, its that simple.

 

I was miffed that the CEO replied to you ? Get a grip of yourself. I couldn't care less if the CEO replied to you. I do, however, care that you thought your trivial travel concern (in the eyes of the club, not you personally) was an issue for the CEO to deal with. It wasn't. And the fact you can't see that is evidence of just how inflated your ego is. If that is a CEO issue then we really do have problems.
