As far as I am aware you can do whatever you like with your own property including shares. If you intend to pay a party a sum of money then I can't see any reason part of that payment couldn't be shares gifted to a specified third party. Edit- what happens to shares when you die? Nowhere is it written that only new shares issued will be bought.
