BDO lose BTC appeal

Recommended Posts

An Aberdeen fans group has urged Scottish football authorities to strip Rangers of titles after the Big Tax Case verdict.

Dons Supporters Together have urged those in power to punish the Glasgow giants after the Supreme Court on Wednesday ruled in favour of HRMC over the Ibrox club's use of Employee Benefit Trusts (EBTs).

Celtic later that day released a statement that called on league chiefs to review their initial ruling which in 2013 found no further action should be taken because the use of EBTS did not give Rangers any "unfair competitive advantage".

The SFA then put out a statement of their own that said "no further disciplinary action should be taken".

However, Aberdeen fans groups Dons Supporters Together are not satisfied and have called for the Ibrox side to be stripped of the 14 trophies the club won during the EBT years of 2001 to 2010.

A statement read: "Dons Supporters Together aim to represent the Aberdeen FC supporting community and have done since their inception. Those supporters that travel home and away, week-in, week-out and spend a fortune while doing it.

"We all appreciate that the Scottish Football League has its faults and its critics. But, we fully expect, and it is our absolute right, that the sport we love and invest in is fair and honest.

"On 5th July 2017 the Supreme Court backed HM Revenue and Customs in its fight with Rangers FC over their use of Employee Benefit Trusts between 2001 and 2010. This allowed Rangers FC to recruit members of staff of a certain quality that they could not ordinarily afford. Rangers FC undisputedly cheated the taxman to win 14 trophies.

"Dons Supporters Together share the view with supporters who have invested in the Scottish game, that Rangers FC should be stripped of the 14 trophies won during these EBT years.

"We now appeal to the Scottish football authorities, media, supporters and clubs in Scotland to review this matter and re-instate our trust in those running the game."

The SPFL, which later took over the running of the league after the merge of the SFL and SPL, said on Wednesday they "consider any implications for the SPFL".

Just another "Sell Out Saturday" nonsense.

Aye, because they all "invested" in the game when we got demoted huh ? Attendances were down drastically in every stadium across the country other than Ibrox and those we played against away from home.

I just got the wife and son ST's for this season seeing as they have moved back home - I wish those ST's were for games against English teams in the English leagues, no matter how low we would need to drop. Scottish football, and the "supporters" are hating themselves to death. I even saw some nonsense yesterday that Rangers use of EBT's was the reason for the national team's demise !!!

Anything that has gone wrong in Scotland apparently is due to Rangers and its fans. Unbelievable.

I can tell you for sure Ian that I would 100% support a boycott on away grounds. I would also give each visiting team the absolute bare minimum of ticket allocation as mandated by the league.

I wouldn't give ANY of those teams a penny of the blue pound.

They hate us so much, they blame us for everything, they want our titles stripped - fuck, they even moan about spending money to keep up with us... where did their money come from ???? Yep, the blue pound - Killie (who are the ONLY ones I have respect for from 2012) gave us TWO stands at Rugby Park the day we won the league - and these same teams complain they spent to keep up.... they were spending OUR money to keep up. Without our money, and Celtic's, they would have folded by now regardless of trying to keep up.

I do actually believe it is time for Rangers fans to take drastic action of boycotting every single away game and giving them all not one penny - lets see how it looks on TV when they have, for example, Motherwell v Rangers and one of the stands behind the goal is completely empty.

Sadly, some of our fans would never boycott - whilst I understand the reasons, I also think that now is the time for drastic action to show that we, as a club and support, can cut off their financial lifeline to them. Lets see how long they last with none of our money in their bank accounts.

Retarded sheep wouldn't benefit trophy wise anyway unless prize money.

Indeed. The next thing will be that Rangers should have been relegated in the 1st year of the EBT as every game should be seen as a forfeited game - so we will need to give back the prize money we got from every EBT year, and seeing as we didn't get relegated at the time we should be relegated now, one division for each year we had EBT's. So we should be placed in the Glasgow amateur leagues, division 7.

There is absolutely no end to the madness of this lot - crackpots the lot of them.

As someone posted on Twitter last night.... when will we have a stripping of titles due to the widely known understating of attendances at Parkhead during the 70's when it was cash entry ???

Hearts reduced away fan ticket allocation, why can't we at least do the same?, also get the away fans in BF1 & BR1 like they used to be, I know I know plod say they can't be in there!, why not?, push for it!, pay extra for it!. With ST sales as high as they are Rangers fans would snap up any tickets freed up with an away fan reduction.

But it absolutely should

Though something would have to be arranged to keep RSCs going

I find it strange that the sheep decide to comment on stripping titles from Rangers.

In the year that Juninho played for the clatties while having a totally hidden and illegal EBT the sheep finished second.

Strip the mankies of their title and the sheep gain.

As I said - "strange" they don't take that one on.
