We Deserve Better - Rangers v Aberdeen

Recommended Posts

I don't know what sort of mid fielder Pena was when he played for Mexico but it's obvious his most productive role for us is on the edge and in the box. Any bit of space and he gets a shot away. Morelos created space for him before but someone did it last night as well. When the low cross came in one of our players was in distracting the defender....couldn't see who it was in the clips I've seen

It was Windass, picture 11/92.

Peña did some good stuff in attack but anywhere else still looks poor.

I thought the team looked reluctant to pass to him.

Just like Foderingham did some good stuff in goals, but anywhere else looks poor?!? There are some times we rely completely on opinion and other times we can base our statements on facts. The facts show that (despite what anyone thinks of him), Pena can score and create goals.

Pena is one of the strangest footballers I've seen. One minute he looks like bhe has never seen a football before and the next he looks like a very skillful and intelligent player.

I like him. Football is better with mavericks but as said above, he needs people to carry him to some extent (Holt and Jack looked capable last night and Dorrans is still to come back). He smiled as he came off and I genuinely felt happy for the lad. Give him a break folks.

no......he needs to play off a striker who'll block or drag defenders wide......he's got a good record in that space.......lethal actually

..

so it was Windass through the middle who made that space for Pena.......

I thought they were offside as well but Boyd and Commons seemed to think they were onside. They said if you look good a part of the Aberdeens players body was playing them on. I think he must have had an erection.:)
If any part of your body that can play the ball is offside your offside.

Titter, nothing like that at all as it happens.

Peña looks good inside the box and for a moment last night, his long range shot, out side the box too.

He spends the vast majority of the match outside of the box.

I thought Pena really burst a gut tracking back too. In one instance I recall him sprinting back quite aggressively -- only for McCrorie to overtake him and clatter the Aberdeen player... legally. :D

If we can make space for him, then he'll do a job in and around the box; that's where he is most dangerous. His build-up play can be quite good, but paradoxically also very bad. 5 goals in 10 games speaks for itself.
