Rangers 4 Dundee 0 (Miller, Morelos, Murphy, Candeias)

The decision not to award the penalty & book Morelos was ridiculous. The referee was made to look rather stupid.

Even though the game was over by then I want to see Rangers challenge the yellow card & get it rescinded. It wasn't the only questionable decision made by the referee & his assistants.

What we're now seeing however is the result of Hugh Dallas being replaced as referees supervisor at the SFA by someone called John Fleming. Standards have fallen big style. I remember today's referee, Greg Aitken, when we were in the lower leagues. I wasn't impressed by him then. Now he's refereeing in the premiership. That says it all unfortunately.

Good day

Three points, four goals, clean sheet and we regain second spot.

But you can't help but feel that we are struggling because we don't know who should be playing and what our best shape should be to accomodate them. It's partly down to some players having gone off the boil, others coming back from injury trying to get up to speed and injuries.

We have lost trust in Goss and he surely can't start next week.

Docherty tried to do too much yesterday and either ran into trouble or made passing errors.

Dorrans isn't quite at it yet.

Halliday hasn't played much but did well for 30 minutes, albeit we were ahead in the game when he came on.

Holt is a reasonable option.

Windass is injured.

Miller hasn't played much but is there and importantly put a chance away at 0-0.

McCrorie is an excellent option but may play at the back.

Funnily enough, Holt, Halliday and Miller played in our semi-final triumph over Celtic a couple of years ago.

Of the almost certain starters next week, Foderingham and Tav are the two who started that game in 2016.

In the 0-0 at Parkhead (New Year) we started with McCrorie, Kranjcar and Holt.

In the other 1-1 last springtime it was Holt, Hyndman and Miller.

Murty will have a lot of thinking to do in the coming days because it appears a bit up in the air.

I wouldn't be surprised if Murty tries the same "diamond" shape that helped him against the Scum a wee while back. I fully assume it will be a back-4 of Tav, Martin, Alves and John, with McCrorie in front of them. Who else will be there is anyone's guess though.

- Docherty & Dorrans together have not impressed - for three games on the trott. Greg tries too hard, Dorrans isn't there just yet and a high enough level.

- Windass, albeit injured, should not be there unless we play counter attacking footie.

- Goss slipped into the game yesterday and as opposed to D&D, picked up passes and positions rather than chasing players with the ball. The trademark of a good DM ... and how do we miss Jack.

- Halliday shows enthusiasm and was quite solid yesterday, but will he be as good against the likes of Tierney, Brown and Co. without getting run over claiming for fouls he won't get?

- Holt may not give you the quality some seem to crave, but he will be running himself into the ground, hounding the Yahoos all over the park and cover the defence better than D&D.

- Murphy and Candeias may probably start, though we might sacrifice Candeias early on for someone more physical. Did that before with that diamond shape, methinks.

Miller may very well be a certain starter now. "Experience" will be quoted to death. Okay then, if we go 4-diamond-2, fine. Put him in the whole behind the 2 strikers that should be Cummings and Morelos, and let him rotate a bit with the former. Holt on the right-midfield and Murphy on the left.

NB: Simon Murray ... sent away by TLB from Hibs on loan to Dundee, contract at Hibs till 2019. Looks very much like a striker/right-winger version of Docherty, no-hiding, aggression and ability-wise. 26 these days, 16 goals and 6 assists in 37 games this season, both for Hibs and Dundee. Came through the Yahoo BC though ...

Glen Kamara ... is actually a Finn by "birth and nationality", came through the Arsenal u18-u23s and signed up at Dens till 2019 too.

Maybe we have to keep in mind with their midfielders/defenders that they came to us with virtually 6 or 7 players behind the ball and covering one another, which eases the pressure off the individual. A Camara at Rangers won't get that luxury.
