The Summer 2018 Transfer Window Rumours and Deals

Recommended Posts

Kante is a strange one: at one or two things, he's world-class, but as a general midfielder, he's average at best. He is a machine at times.

It goes to show how a team can build on a player's qualities. Every player has their own skill-set.

I don't like designating a player either 'good', or 'bad'. I'd rather look at what they are good at, and not so good at.

4 million for Skrtel, no way.

4 million here, 4 million there, splashing the cash in a crazy imaginary world

Four million pounds seems to be the number this year :D

Rangers Set To Seal Stunning Central Defensive Signing

Since Steven Gerrard was confirmed as the new Rangers last week, speculation has been rife as to whom he may look to recruit. The Englishman’s profile makes the club a big draw once again, and it’s believed that many currently plying their trade south of the border could now be considering a move.

One name repeatedly linked in recent days has been that of Ryan Shawcross. The Stoke City captain has built quite the reputation over the years in the Premier League, but it’s believed he is now seeking a new challenge after his club’s relegation from the English top flight.

Rangers want Brighton’s Connor Goldson as James Tavernier emerges as £3.5m transfer target for Crystal Palace

SunSport can reveal the Seagulls stopper is on Steven Gerrard’s radar as he tries to bolster his backline.

I wouldn't like to see Tavernier go. He's one of our best players.

Yes, the general quality is lacking in our squad, but you don't improve it by selling your best players and hope you get someone better. You move on the dregs first, building on what you do have.

Shawcross is a solid defender. But, he's used to a compact, deep-block defence. Similar to Alves in that way.

SG may be going that way, with Skrtel 'linked' -- although I don't belive it -- too. They can do well, but they'd need a better support structure around them, more protection etc.

I haven't seen Shawcross in years so can't really comment on him, a bigger issue I have with centre half's is positioning and awareness, they don't necessarily need to be quick, but those two things are a must for me. As long as there are other players to support I don't see speed being an issue

I really hope we don’t waste more money on veterans at centre back. There’s absolutely no chance we’ve bid £4m for Skrtel though. Liverpool sold him for £5m 2 years ago when he was 31.

The Brighton guy sounds like a good prospect. I’m confident those are the kind of guys Allen will be looking at.
