Let's cut these stats a bit ... 178 games, 35 goals, 53 assists ...

15/16 - Championship - League Cup - Challange Cup -> 15 goals, 19 assists

16/17 - Premiership - SFA & League Cup -> 2 goals, 11 assists

17/18 - Premiership - SFA & League Cup - EL -> 9 goals, 9 assists

18/19 (thus far) - Premiership - SFA & League Cup - EL -> 9 goals (8 penalties), 14 assists (8 / none / 3 / 3 respectively)

For a full-back not a bad return, no doubt about that. But almost half of his goals came in the Championship (when he managed to score quite a few free-kicks), and 1/3 of his assists too. He's come up with more good this season, yet almost all his goals were penalties and 5 of his assists came against low key opposition. How often though did his plenty attempts at crosses and corners, not to mention free kicks, ended up nowhere near close to a blue jersey or indeed the goal? Us having Jack, Coulibaly and Co. about did him a world of good going forward, but - and no doubting his application and workrate - his defending left us open regularly last season and on occasion this season too.

We simply don't know how any other fullback will fare in his position up until we try that approach.

Lets ignore his goals as those dont impress you.

That level of assists is ridiculous players regularly hitting double figures on assists are like hens teeth.

The thing with assists is that you can give a perfect ball that should be a goal and the player misses a sitter. No assist. Then you can fall over your laces and the ball trickles through and you get an assist. It is a stat that doesen't really tell the whole story.

Not the whole story but it’s still the best indicator we have of creative output.

Gerrard on Rossiter

“However, Jordan is very close to joining Bury.

“He has been down there all day and it is 99 per cent done.”

Given that applires to all players equally including tav im not sure its at all relevant unless you have information to show hes getting lucky every 3rd game or so.

Apparently Rossiter to Bury on loan confirmed by Gerrard. A very low level of football imo, I was hoping he’d get much higher quality experience.

The most important thing right now for JR is getting games.

Going to a Championship club and ending up on the bench is no good.

If he can stay fit and get 4 months of games then that is an important step forward for the lad.

I'd consider anything we get out of or from JR now as a bonus and our recruitment tends to suggest we aren't expecting much from him anytime soon.
