Touting one’s horn? Disgraceful. Ladies and young children might be reading this board. On second thoughts, they’re probably not.

”Tooting” might be safer. “blowing” should be avoided. The mischief is put right by ditching “horn” for “trumpet”

So what's with

"Little Boy Blue,

Come blow your horn"

???

I don't like to tout my own horn, but, I did.

I feel the same with Kamara, too. It took some of you a while to come around to recognising Kamara's ability.

Absolutely, I had Aribo as the one who would be our record sale a long time ago. Unfortunately the release clause prevents that being the case, he's easily worth more than 10 and he’ll show that in the EPL. And yes Kamara is the other who I think would most easily slot into an EPL side.

Aribo played 70 matches last season, and, now, it seems that he will leave -for So'ton, apparently- and receive considerably more money for considerably less work. In another occupation, I should term this a proper promotion.

Despite this, it is a step down for him, as is the case for the vast majority who leave, and playing at Ibrox, for Rangers, is likely to be the highlight of his career.

I don't think they need to be mutually exclusive.

They dont need to be - but it is no coincidence that we are signing 2006's when that age group has been largely a failure for us.  It isn't anywhere close to a sign of changing recruitment.

I did too - when I saw Aribo play the League One play off final for Charlton he looked an absolute baller - wanted us to sign him when I saw him and that summer we did.  I had no doubts the boy would be great up here and, largely he has.  He is worth way more than 10 million, of that I have no doubt - but last year of his contract dictates what we can do - and the answer is largely nothing.  If he isnt signing we have to get the best we can.... so to get his release clause value is pretty solid business

Aribo is clearly a great player.

That said his first 2 seasons every time he hit top form he got injured and took a while to come back to form. Last year he had a serious dip in form for months from Jan after starting brilliantly.

We can replace him I am sure of it.

Agree with most here in that £10M for a player with one year left is about max for a Scottish club to get. The fact we can get a percentage of any sell-on may well see us earn more in a couple of years as Southampton have a good record of doing that themselves. Feel sorry for Aribo that this is the club he is going to, utter dross and a certain bottom half club fighting relegation. From Europa final and the atmosphere of those Euro nights at Ibrox to sleepy hollow and regular pumpings with nobody even noticing. I wish him all the very best and I hope his manager finds the right slot and system to get the best out of him. Thanks for some special performances Joe, and of course for that goal in Seville that looked for a short time like making you a legend.
