Please not Kenny Miller

Recommended Posts

I'm sitting here at one end of the week, looking at an OF game at the other end. And I'm somewhat concerned at this news today that our goal-shy striker is fit again and apparently making the squad for Parkhead. It's looking increasingly likely the Runaround Kid will get a place after all. Which doesn't fill me with hope or confidence. I really thought we would be spared an appearance from the talentless Mr Misser. Oh dear.

WALTER SMITH has confirmed Nacho Novo will miss Sunday's Old Firm meeting with Celtic - although fellow forward Kenny Miller will be fit to play.

Nacho Novo gets treatmentSpanish striker Novo was injured in the first half of last week's 2-0 win over Dundee United when he sustained knocks to his ankle in two separate incidents.

Fans hoped the popular hitman might have a small chance of being available for the Parkhead clash when they saw him walk off the pitch.

But it quickly became clear he was struggling to make it and Gers manager Smith has now confirmed he will be out for the next few weeks.

Miller will at least be available, despite having to pull out of Scotland's training gathering at St Andrews with a hamstring problem.

He was withdrawn as a precaution and is undergoing intensive treatment at Murray Park to ensure he is in the squad for the derby six days from now.

Smith said: "Nacho will miss the Celtic game and unfortunately his ankle will keep him out of that one.Kenny Miller

"We are disappointed to lose him because he is one of those players who has been starting in the team and playing well recently.

"Even as a substitute, Nacho is the type to come on and make a great impact so we'll miss him in this game and the next few we have coming up.

"It is a different situation altogether with Kenny and he will be okay for the match at the weekend.

"He's getting a bit of discomfort at the top of his hamstring but the problem isn't actually in the muscle itself. He will be fine."

A confident and ambitious Rangers manager would be thinking how to best use Fleck and how to get service to Boyd. Smith on the other hand will be looking for "experience" to kill the game and minimise the risk of defeat. Sellick are in real trouble, possibly on the brink of losing their way. If Smith does a Manchester he should be hounded from the club with his arse being kicked all the way. being so afraid to lose that you are unable to win is not what we need or want at Rangers.

The one glimmer of hope is that the old fart might actually be aware of some of his critics and be listening.

We must take the game to Celtic.

No excuses, 4-4-2 please with Lafferty and Boyd up front, supported by a ready and willing midfield, up for what will be a physical test. Hartley, Robson and Brown will all be briefed to hack their way through our team. We must match them.

If ever the Rangers captain wanted a chance to show the supporters he's still a Rangers captain, then this is his time to show leadership, take responsibility and get the battle fever on.

Same goes for our manager and every player.

Battle fever. How good does that sound? How long is it since Rangers talked like that. Nowadays all I hear from Rangers is how great a club are sellick and how we need to catch them up. When Murray told us that sellick fans were more loyal than us it was obvious he could never lead this club back to the top. He's a spineless bastard who wouldn't know battle fever if he lived to be a hundred.
