Another freebie ... It is still unclear where Luuk de Jong's future lies. PSV is still fervently hoping for the return of its captain, who is currently without a club after his contract in Eindhoven expires. De Jong has not yet made a decision about his future and is reportedly open to a final foreign adventure. Rangers FC should provide a solution. 186 goals in 338 matches. These are the unprecedented figures of De Jong in the shirt of PSV. The 34-year-old attacker was also worth gold for the Eindhoven team last season with 18 goals and 13 assists. With his contribution to 31 goals last season, the attacker played a major role in the title extension for PSV. Partly because things went so well last season, De Jong does not intend to hang up his football boots. "De Jong is still hesitating between signing a new contract and an adventure in an exotic football country to end his career," wrote Jeroen Kapteijns in De Telegraaf. Another club in the Netherlands is not an option for the striker in any case. In addition, PSV also seems to indicate its limits: "PSV has indicated that it cannot wait for him indefinitely and is looking at other options for the striker position." With Ricardo Pepi, Eindhoven already has the ideal first choice in the point of attack. This could also be a reason for De Jong to look further. The striker does not want to play the role of pinch-hitter in his final years as a professional footballer and hopes to be of great value somewhere. Rangers FC as a closer? The Career Advice Tool of SciSports shows that Rangers FC can be an excellent club for De Jong. Although the quality of the selection does not directly match De Jong's current Champions League level, the striker in Glasgow can certainly be of value for two or three more seasons with his experience and qualities. According to the football data agency, De Jong's playing style fits perfectly with the way of playing at Ibrox. Rangers FC recently got a new head coach in Russel Martin. The 39-year-old Englishman will probably want to make some changes when it comes to the playing style of the Gers, which could possibly be to De Jong's disadvantage. Rangers FC already has three strikers in principle with Cyriel Dessers, Danilo and Hamza Igamane. The only question is where Dessers' future lies. The Nigerian striker seems open to a new adventure. Feyenoord could be one of the possibilities. Igamane is also possibly in his last weeks at Rangers FC. The talented striker could go to Lille OSC. If Dessers and/or Igamane leave, the arrival of De Jong could offer a solution. -

Euro 24m ... from the journo who broke the story of us signing him. -

Yep, I know. I was solely replying to the UEFA "guidelines". IMHO, injuries to our big buys and important players hampered us quite a lot these last couple of seasons. Danilo, Cortes, Sterling, Kasanwirjo, Balogun et al. There was de facto no strength in depth and hence I, for one, are not averse to grabbing the odd player with a solid Scottish record and decent physique, like we did in the last 4 decades. If we lose Igamane and Dessers, we'd be mad not to grab Shankland on a free. He will sure see us through many a soggy encounter at Dens or Fir Park on a soggy night in December or February. And we could still spill 8m on some fancy foreign footworker who, given our luck, break is little toe and miss 3 months. -

Round-up ... Rangers have opened talks to sign Peterborough United defender Emmanuel Fernandez, 23. (Football Insider) ... he's got a contract till 2027. Lille want Rangers forward Hamza Igamane, 22, to replace Jonathan David. (Sacha Tavolieri on X) Round down ... Meanwhile, Hibs have agreed to sign free agent Josh Mulligan, the 22-year-old midfielder most recently at Dundee, with a medical imminent. (Fabrizio Romano on X) We probably have to wait on some transfers till June 30, e.g. Poku, Shankland (😱) etc. -

We'll need the money because I don't think the new consortium are allocating as much of the 20M sterling to the transfer budget as many would like to think. -

Unless you assume they are going to dump Europe and go all out for the league. High risk strategy. -

You need a minimum of 8(usually 4 & 4) to register a full European squad of 25. If we assume we have 3 nation trained in Soutter, Barron & Cameron. We need 5 club trained players. Then you have to assume the likes of King, Rice, Curtis will be registered. Lots of noise around McCausland leaving so we may lose 1. Will be interesting to see how the recruitment team solve this problem over the next few weeks, by recruiting players from England. PS - I used AI to help me with the formatting, the details within were C&P'd from the OP, and the club trained / nation trained info came from me. So any inaccuracies are my bad.
