Champions League 2nd Qualifying Round: Rangers v Panathinaikos

It would be nice to get our hands on some of the champions league riches -
Why are you concerned about the new articles? Presumably the new ones will be the model articles, unless you know something different? What reduction in transparency? Being a PLC costs more and makes it more difficult to issue shares. Also I'm not sure why you raised the points in this thread. A statement about a SFA fine has got nothing to do with our corporate arrangements. We can have a view on the statement independent of the points you raise.

".....As part of our defence today, we flagged numerous examples of similar incidents on club channels. These incidents raise legitimate questions about Scottish FA rules and how consistently they are enforced. To our knowledge, none of these cases appear to have resulted in charges against the respective clubs....." ________ How did the SFA respond to that ?
-
I agree but Brown's comment was unnecessary, could have used the word 'incompetent' for example.
-
Far worse said on other channels and never a thing is said about it. We should not pay the fine.
-
He was a guest though, he wasn't giving his opinion as anything other than a punditry guest on a partisan club TV channel. Which he was also quickly shot down by Tom Miller. This wasn't an official viewpoint of Rangers FC, and other clubs haven't been held to the same account.
-
I can see the lack of consistency argument but it was a stupid remark by Brown on Rangers official tv channel.
-
I'd be more concerned with the new Articles of Association that the consortium want to bring in and the reduction in transparency.

Champions League 2nd Qualifying Round: Rangers v Panathinaikos

1. We are currently in CL qualifiers and should be looking to give it our very best shot. 2. How exactly would we prioritise the league? Do we play kids in Europe ? We have seen that our players are generally more motivated in European football rather than domestic. How do you change that? 3. Finance. The new owners won't bankroll continued failure, they want to take money out. How do you plug the increased gaps left by much reduced European revenue. Bear in mind that we will be wanting to use monies from player sales to invest in squad. 4. What happens if we prioritise domestic football but lose the league? Would you continue to prioritise the league and not bother so much about European footbal? Do you call that a coherent and viable business model? 5. Do we let our hard earned coefficient go down the toilet? Higher coefficient means increased prize money. - European group football is necessary for our business model and current financial situation. - Your binary choice is flawed and presumes we win the league if we are out of Europe and doesn't even consider a worst case scenario that is very possible. - Winning the league isn't a guarantee of a CL League phase place Note 25/26 SPFL winner would have to play one CL qualifier 26/27 SPFL winner currently on path to play 3 qualifiers. Second place would go straight to Conference League qualifying (3 rounds) - Today

Rangers FC today has been found by a Scottish FA judicial panel to have been in breach of Disciplinary Rule 38, following a remark made during commentary of the Hibernian v Rangers game in May. The club has been fined £3,000. We feel it is necessary to highlight the broader concerns this outcome raises and the wider implications this has for clarity and confidence in their regulatory processes. John Brown spoke emotionally and spontaneously as someone who cares deeply about the club. His words were not scripted, and they were not an official club comment. The ruling however sets a precedent where even spontaneous, corrected remarks made during live coverage of a clear refereeing error are enough to trigger a formal sanction. That is neither proportionate nor consistent, especially when other clubs have made stronger comments on official platforms without consequence. As part of our defence today, we flagged numerous examples of similar incidents on club channels. These incidents raise legitimate questions about Scottish FA rules and how consistently they are enforced. To our knowledge, none of these cases appear to have resulted in charges against the respective clubs. The lack of consistency with the Scottish FA’s policing of similar incidents leaves more questions than answers. That is why we will be contacting the Scottish FA Chief Executive and President to seek clarity on what policies and processes the Compliance Officer has in place, if any, to ensure a consistent and proportionate approach to enforcement and the equal treatment of member clubs. We shall also be asking the Scottish FA whether they accept that a rule that cannot be applied consistently across all clubs and all platforms risks losing credibility as a fair and enforceable regulation. Our aim here is to understand the rationale behind the differing outcomes. A lack of consistency, or the perception of it, undermines confidence in the disciplinary process and exposes all member clubs to uncertainty about what is and is not allowed. There remains no clear guidance on how clubs are expected to manage live broadcast content, though we note the panel acknowledged that the club’s internal editorial guidelines may serve as a constructive step for others going forward. To be clear, we referenced these other examples not to suggest they should have resulted in sanctions, but to highlight the clear inconsistency in how similar incidents have been handled. Club media channels are, by nature, passionate and partisan. Informal, tongue-in-cheek and emotional commentary comes with the territory, especially in live settings. But, in choosing to pursue this case, the Scottish FA has opened the door to closer scrutiny of how similar situations are handled going forward. If this is now the standard, they will be watched closely to ensure it is applied across the board, consistently, without exception and without favour

Let us know what they say. They are normally pretty good at getting back to you. I've seen people use their phones but best to get that confirmed by the club.

Yeah, I totally agree and to be fair, that’s how it should be. Thelwell and Purdy should be leading the squad-building process, and Martin has to trust them to give him the tools he needs. I just think the delay in movement might be because Martin will still want to evaluate a few things firsthand, figure out where his most urgent need is. For example, we've been told, the Propper deal hasn't gone through yet because he wants to speak to the new manager.... If it’s just a conversation, surely that could’ve been done over the phone by now? -
It wont matter. Thelwell and Purdy will make all the big calls on transfers and they have been well aware of the playing squad since January. I made a point that when Martin was hired, that from that point forward he needed to rely on the football operations team to build him a squad which will give him a fighting chance. Some of the names linked so far, and lack of actual 'ins' at the moment make it seem like he will have an uphill struggle.

Yep, heard that an era or two ago over on FF. Someone described a raving reporter as being "just a bawhair's width away from the loony bin". -

I really don't think the transfer rumours will really pick up until Martin has had the players for at least a few days of preseason and he's had a chance to see them on the training pitch and speak to them face to face. Most return Monday, I think it will be pretty quiet until Wednesday next week at least -

To say that transfer news are slow is a nice understatement. Its speed can be measured in "Angstrom per Week" these days ... PS: The angstrom (/ˈæŋstrəm/; ANG-strəm) is a unit of length equal to 10−10 m; that is, one ten-billionth of a metre, a hundred-millionth of a centimetre, 0.1 nanometre, or 100 picometres. -
Simple win the league

Ferguson still harboured hopes of the job permanently and knew he'd need to go on a good winning run to be in with a chance. No way he was allowing one of our centre halves to miss the last part of the season, even though it was all but over. The club was in such a state of flux with ownership change and senior appointments still not sorted no one was going to over rule him.
