  2. POTS - Tillman; consistently above average all season, no one else was. Flop - Matondo; might still come good, but enormously disappointing signing so far. Most Improved - Sakala; looked like he'd no future with us at one point, improved to the point that with a touch more composure he might become a star... Unsung Hero - Tav; 55 appearances (more than any other player) and 18 goals from fullback despite a dip in form and struggling with injury at times. Best Signing - Colak; joint top scorer this season with Tav and vital goals in Europe. Lawrence looked good before injury, Souter looked good after injury, Cantwell and Raskin haven't played enough matches yet, all 4 of them may prove better signings in the long run.

  3. A glimmer of hope I've got is that Atalanta invested in him and they've had some pearlers in recent years.

  4. If ... IF? What's the point of these Fancy-Dan neural network prediction algorithms if they can't even tell us how many goals the guy will score. Very disappointing. 😉

  5. No idea who this Charlie guy is. Charlie @CharlieRFC1872 Follow José Cifuentes will travel to Glasgow this week. Done deal between LAFC and Rangers. Deal will be valid until 2027. #RangersFC Medical tests booked, as revealed today. No Premier League move, Cifuentes will play for Rangers.

  6. Numbers work for me. I'm sure he'll sign for PSV though and score the goals to knock us out of the CL play-off round...

  7. Out of contract next summer and last two loans (at Seville and Hoffenheim) haven't went too well since he was diagnosed with diabetes. Nice want to move him on and he's available for around £5m with a possible loan-to-buy deal. Other teams interested (including PSV) and we may be too...

  8. 20 years ago Aberdeen spent 1 million on a player Paul Bernard. They also spent about 800k on Dean Windass who was highly coveted down south at the time, Motherwell, Dundee, Hibs all spent more money than they spend now. SPFL must be the only footballing economy that's went backwards over the last 20 years.

  9. OK so ........ with all these xG's tied down, exactly how many goals will he score for us next season if he signs?

  10. Done the obligatory youtube clips and he looks pretty silky so it's not a bad comparison, maybe not to his level though. He looks like he'll be able to retain the ball which is key - if we had someone who could make it stick those cup matches against Celtic would've been a lot easier.

  11. He might be more of a Bergkamp type than a van Nistelrooy in which case i'd take him.

  12. To save the clicks, the 3 players are Sam Lammers from Atalanta, Jose Cifuentes from LAFC and Cyriel Dessers.

  14. Where he signs permanently in January on reduced terms to the €5-7m being quoted now. Various teams interested but all baulking at that price with his last two loans fairly unsuccessful so Nice may have to be flexible.

  15. It's more of a personal anecdotal thing for me from watching him at games (especially at Ibrox) where, IMO, his workrate just wasn't as good. Like I say he had a 2-3 decent periods during the season and he absolutely wasn't as bad as some people have suggested recently but I do think, for whatever reason (fitness, motivation, instruction), his performances this season weren't as good as in previous ones though interestingly they are comparable to his efforts last season stats wise on this forum. For example, in terms of the stats in your next post, he won 4 MotM awards this season (and last). Three of those this season were before the WC. He also had the same number of podiums this season; though 20% lower amount of votes. Just two of those podiums came after the WC this season so his performances definitely tailed off to a degree. In 2020/21, he had 8 MotM awards and another 8 podiums; along with over twice the number of votes. Obviously that was a successful season so perhaps people were just more positive. Overall there has been a downwards trend in his numbers. Personally though, FWIW, I'd have kept him as I think he'd be better in a new look side.

  16. I often questioned his ability to do his main job, which was to assist and score goals. He was flippin' hopeless at both.

  17. Just had a look back at the MOTM threads from Jan-March Motherwell March - 1 MOTM vote Hibs March – 2 MOTM votes Celtic Feb – 1 MOTM vote Thistle Feb – “Kent deserves a mention” Hearts Feb – “Davies superb as were lundstrum sakala and kent.” St Johnstone Jan - 2 MOTM votes Killie Jan – 6 MOTM votes Aberdeen Jan – MOTM with 12 votes Dundee Utd Jan - 2 MOTM votes Celtic Jan – 6 MOTM votes “MOTM by some distance” Yes, he had some fitness issues in April-May but to suggest that he didn't seem interested for the whole of this season is really unfair, and just seems to be perpetuating this twitter myth that he had an attitude problem for the whole of this season. During Feb, many fans were hoping he'd sign a new contract and while some questioned his scoring record, I don't recall anyone criticising his effort or attitude. Whether his performances and lack of appearances in April and May were due to fitness issues or the fact that he had decided to move, we'll never know but it certainly appeared to me to be fitness related.

  19. I think that's down to clubs in those leagues bringing through some terrific prospects and selling them on at high prices. We're starting to see a bit of that in Scotland, with players going to Italy but not enough to boost the coffers and player recruitment.

  20. Didnt Nice pay 20 million for him What have they put in your coffee this morning? Btw yes i'd take him. Love a Danish forward.

  21. Yeah, thats a downside. Unless he comes in for a low fee on low wages for 4 years and you get 4 good years out of him. Also you would expect if we have Dessers 28, Colak 29/30. Roofe (lol) 30. Then you'd expect a younger guy to come in whos perhaps a bit of a gamble (like Morelos was) as competition.

  22. The likes of Portugal, Holland, Belgium, Austria etc have clubs that have been spending a bit more cash these days compared to 20 years ago. But your right there probably is similar examples but I doubt its at the scale of the SPFLs financial regression.

  23. Arfield off to Argyle towear the green? Maybe he’ll get to wear his own shirt. A good season and they’ll change their name to Plymouth Arfield.

  26. Borna was one of our better performers last season IMO. Gets a ton of flak for the mistakes he has made against that other mob. Depending on what his wage is he is a more than capable first choice and/or competition for Ridvan. And if Beale goes 3 at the back then he would be playing further forward naturally so the defensive side of his game would be less important. I am biased, have always liked Borna
